No, but I did talk to her on the phone Monday and she said she was with Ft. Myers office just helping out in Cape. My counselor is usually Yancy.

Good luck to you, as well! Maybe I'll see you, I go in for my 2nd shots tomorrow @ 11:45.

Feeling better now, I had some shrimp for dinner.

Does anyone know about GNC's "100% Whey Protein" mix? I have vanilla and chocolate. According to the label, 1 scoop has 120 calories, 2g fat, 4g carbs, 20g protein. Ingredients: Whey protein concentrate, whey protein isolate, hydrolyzed whey peptides, artificial flavor, lecithin, salt, acesulfame potassium, cellulose gum, xanthan gum.

I really like this mix (of course, I used to mix it with milk and bananas) and hope that I can use it.

Also, what about firm tofu?

Thanks!

Ok, I'm starting to get a little annoyed at my readings!

1/23 1/30 2/6 2/13
454 - 443 - 438 - 434 Weight
63.3 - 61.8 - 61.1 - 60.6 BMI

Above looks fine but below is driving me nuts

219 - 258 - 258.5 - 219.5 Fat Mass
235 - 185 - 179.5 - 215 FFM
172 - 135.5 - 131.5 - 157.5 TBW

Now, I assume that since I started weightlifting last Saturday and have done that 3 times, I am probably holding some water but to gain 26 pounds of water seems to be a bunch. AND, of coarse, when the water changes, the fat changes. It is showing nearly a 40 pound fat loss in a week...(I wish!). Good news is, ultimately, I had a 4 pound loss (9 pounds in Feb, 20 pounds officially with Medi, 44 pounds since 1/9, 59 pounds from my high weight around Christmas) AND I have lost 2 inches from my waist. She upped my water intake from 64 - 128 oz's too 100 - 144 oz's. I usually got in 80 - 100 oz's so will make a concerted effort to get 120 this week.

What did your clinic say about this? I have seen some pretty funky numbers on the scale a few times and I just chalk it up to sometimes the machine needs to be calibrated.

Bioelectrical impedance analysis which is what the scales are using to measure your body composition can sometimes be off depending on your hydration levels.

I wouldn't be too concerned unless you go next week and the numbers are still all screwy.

It may also be due to my size. Not many people on here my size so it may just be a product of that, I guess. From my high point of 493 to my goal weight (220) is 263 pounds. 59 of it is gone now and forever.

Also found a water guideline...64 oz of water per day for a normal weight then add 8 oz more for every 25 pounds over. In my case = 144 oz. Am going to do 140 oz a day and see what happens the next few weeks.

Thanks McBoo for the advice, I will purchase the low sodium deli meat from now on, maybe that is why I retained water.I definately need to start being more creative with my food choices, but I am so new at this I am afraid to make a wrong choice, like the winter squash!!!I will have to try some of the receipes posted here. Happy Valentines Day to everyone, if my husband gives me chocolates he is dead!

Not a bad week for being sick.

It wasn't all bad today. I lost 2.5 lbs but lost 6 lbs of fat. I am hoping that next week I will below 200lbs. It has been about 10 years since I weighed below 200. I am ready to start doing some light strength training along with my cardio. The fat % down is my number one goal right now. Great job to all the losers this week.

The days you work out you should try and drink more water, also are you working out before you go in for your visits? I know that you are really good about tracking your sodium intake so It is probably not that. I am not sure how much you are sweating or the intensity of your workout routines, but I have been advised that anytime I drink Cafffine and/or workout that I need to increase my water intake. This has helped me with my water retention but I am one of those that hold onto water. I guess its a genetic thing. I feel your frustration though, its enough to drive you nuts. Hang in there...You are doing fantastic

Recipes

I have now tried two of your recipes, Susie, and they were great. Loved the crustless pizza (made a couple days ago) and the cheescake (made this to help get through Valentine's Day treats at my school today). It worked perfectly. I actually put the cheescake in a mini-muffin pan that I had lined with mini-muffin cup liners, and I was able to get 14 mini cheesecakes (about 1/2 full in mini-muffin pan) out of the recipe you posted. I only had 1 though...saving the rest.

Thanks, I love the pizza and cheesecake bite recipe. I keep the cheesecake bite recipe in the freezer all the time and usually have 1 as desert before I got to bed.

Hi All-
Happy Valentine's Day. Congrats to JBiggars, Phyllis and McChestnut. Your successes are definitely inspiring me to keep going.

Yesterday I bought a brand of ham steak called Cumberland Gap. The steaks are in the vacuum sealed type package and called Honey Ham Steaks. The nutritional value says

serving size: 2 oz
calories: 50
total fat: 2 grams
total carbs: 1 gram
protein: 10 grams

Does that sound possible? The ingredient list says, "cured with water, honey, salt, dextrose etc etc.." Since it includes honey will it still be ok to eat them?

Have to admit, the steaks were delicious! To cook them all I had to do was saute them in a pan for a bout 5 minutes as they are cooked already. And because of the low calories and fat I actually ate a whole one which was about 5 ounces. Amazing how full I felt. All I had with it was two pickles. Prior to Medi...that would have been an appetizer!

Thanks for all the great advice everyone offers. It makes this much easier.
Regards-
Robyn

So very true.............. I know that is how I felt my first few weeks on the plan. I was so sctrict with myself that I barely got in my calories needed and sent my body into starvation mode. I have always been a lable reader anyway now I just pay more attention to all the numbers and ingreds.
Remember: when in doubt ask your clinic and your fellow losers!

Great job!
BE careful with the re-intro to strentgh training. I just added light weights back on Thursday and I am sore; forgot I hadn't done that in a while. I did about 30 mins on weight machines (I am bad with form so I like the machines) didn't even do everything, mostly arms with hip abductors. Light weights, 3 sets of 10-12 (stretch that muscle between rep) then random treadmill lvl 5 at 3mph for 40 mins (ESPN2 Daytona coverage came on and I kept adding mins to the treadmill LOL).
Walked durning morning break with some ladies in the office yesterday and will do some cardio today at the gym and maybe a 20 min pilates dvd at home tonight.
Good luck and I know you'll be under 200 next week!

I eat the cumberland gap products and haven't had a problem. The ham steak is delicious (I put some mustard on it and then grill on my foreman grille...tastes great). I also like their smaked park chops (60 cal for 2 oz) with the spritzer honey mustard on and grilled on foreman. I have not had any problems with either of these and counselor has said they are ok.

Good luck and I know you'll be under 200 next week!
TY Nikki, Yeah I am going to take it really slow at first so that I am not in too much pain. I have found that in the past I always had the thought that you needed to go in a kill yourself at the gym, then only to find out that I would just burn out in a couple of months. The whole medi experience has put eating and exercise in a better perspective for me. I found out that the hardest part of the plan is the final phase, since you are open to more foods and choices. Mcboo can give better info on that, but this is what my clinic told me. So with hearing that I know now that I have to have a realistic workout routine that I will stick with.

Have a great weekend

I am in week 2. My next appointment is Monday afternoon. I have lost 6.5 pounds the first week. I have enjoyed reading everyones suggestions and comments.
