Hi KK8ise
You will loose the 30 lbs very fast if you stick to the program. Keep comming back to this site for support. Everyone is so knowledgeable. There is information here for every phase. Plus reading about others experiences really helps.

Good morning everybody! Well, my 2 days of enjoying Christmas Eve & Christmas Day turned into 2 weeks of eating pretty much whatever I wanted... the good news is that I have been in the gym almost every day and have not gained any weight. I haven't lost any, but I haven't gained any. I've also kept up with my gallon of water a day.

That is why I am so glad I have devloped a liking for working out and going to the gym. As long as you can keep up with that piece, you don't have to worry so much.

I go back to work on Tuesday, but today I'm back on track with food, etc. I'm on my way to the gym now. I'm guessing if I hadn't stuck to working out, i'd have gained five pounds.

Have a great week everybody!

Roev,

Don't worry about the ketostix. It just takes some people longer than others to register anything on them. As long as you are losing weight all is good. Some people never show more than a trace. Your body may be using them efficiently.

McBoo,

I just ordered the angel hair miracle noodles. I remembered you had a great recipe for Pad Thai. Would you care to share that again or refer me to where you posted it? My son loves Pad Thai and I told him about your recipe. He is really excited to try it with the miracle noodles.

Thanks again for all your great advice. The tips you give really do help make it a way of life and not a diet.

Hi Roev210,

I just turned 49 and I am probably pre-menipausal. I have actually noticed that my TOM has gotten lighter. Also, I have had big weight loss weeks during my TOM. In the past I always gained because of water retention. I do make sure to drink lots of water during that time.

As for your headache, it will go away. Be sure to drink lots of water and drink the low sodium chicken broth. I still use the chicken broth and I am 46 days into the program. Once you see the rapid weight loss it will all be worthwhile. Week two will be much better. It is actually surprising how quickly my body adjusted to the low number of calories. Good luck!

I did so well for the first month on the plan and then with family in town, holidays, honeymoons...ugh. I fell off the wagon and it felt virtually impossible to get back on because I knew right around the corner would be another holiday or event. I know our lives are filled with these and I just need to decide what I want more: homemade bread, pizza and ice cream or a healthy body with a happy mind. Sounds like it would be an easy choice. My biggest problem is my tendency to binge. It's almost like OCD....when I was on plan, I was SOOO strict and as soon as I fell off, I was SOOO bad.
This brings me to where I am torn. I canceled an appointment with Medi back in November when I knew I had fallen off plan and sort of expected they might call me to see what was up but I never heard anything. I am nervous to call and see if they will welcome me back since I could only handle one month before....but sooo much was going on. Also, I am curious if there are any other "restarters" out there who did what I might do. Did you have to pay for all of the initial tests again? I wish I could just get my family doctor to give me a prescription for the appetite suppressants to save money but I doubt she would do that.
And words of wisdom would be appreciated....thanks!
I hear you loud and clear. Why don't you try doing a modified Medi on your own. I cheated a smalll amt during Christmas, but have managed to lose the three lbs I gained by just eating clean (eggs for breakfast with a small amt of cheese, and just some veg and protein the rest of the days. I use my leftover fat burners also. You can do this on your own, you just need to get on that scale every day and be accountable to yourself. In the end, you are all that you need to accomplish anything.

Do you think you can still lose weight without the diet pills? 500 calories isn't much ....

Rhonda,

My clinic instructed me not to test my ketones until between the hours of 3:30 - 5:00pm. Go back and check it later and see what shows up.

Hi Poohsmommi,
I stopped taking the pills 2 days ago. I am having no problem sticking to the plan. I am in week 2 and I drink alot of broth with hot sauce. I am very sensitive to the meds and don't like them. On friday I went to the clinic for my weigh in and told the Doc I didn't like them and he told me people have done the plan without them with great success and it will make it easier when he has to take me off them because he said you cant take them forever.

I sure couldn't do it without the meds. Kudos to you. While I frequently forget to take the meds and don't usually get all my doses in (and still do fine) I worry about the day they take me off. Hopefully by then my calories will be significantly higher. I am learning alot to get more volume for my calories. Good luck to you.

Susie,

By the time you reach maintainance and they start to wean you off the meds you will be fine because your stomach will have shrunk so much you won't ba able to eat anywhere near what you used to. Also your mindset changes totally and you really won't want to.

Great job Hopeforsize6. Keep the meds on hand should you need them at some point but if you can do it without them that is great. As I got further into the program I was forgetting to take them all the time and when I went on maintainance I still had some left and just stopped cold turkey with no side effects whatsoever.

The broth really is a great help. I still enjoy it occaissionally and cook with it often.

As long as you are eating enough protein in your diet to satiate you, then you should be fine. Also, keep in mind that sometimes when we are dehydrated/thirsty-- this can mimic hunger. Keep drinking your fluids. For myself, I do not follow a 500 calorie diet-- this has always set me up for my body going in starvation/conservation mode-plus I am miserable on VLCD's. While I love this Medi Thread, I am not, by any means a medi perfect person. Mine is probably more akin to a modified Atkins. Granted, it has taken me six months to keep 30 lbs off, but I actually feel good. I refuse to starve myself in the name of weight loss. I plan on reaching goal this year, which is fine. The extra 75 lbs did not get added on in twelve months, so it certainly won't come that quick. As long as the scale moves in the right direction, I am at peace with my weightloss efforts. I am 30lbs lighter, and that is very important to me.

I just replaced my avatar with a more current picture of me and my daughter from Sat Gator Basketball Game. I kept my tebow picture as my profile pic. I think you can tell a difference in weight loss between the two. I will post my weigh in results on Wed Afternoon.

You are looking great McChestnut!

I went to the clinic today and got weighed in. It was my first weigh-in in almost 2 weeks since the clinic's been closed. I lost 2 pounds , which I am grateful for because in that 2 week period was my anniversary, Christmas, and my birthday. I ate right for the 2 weeks, but had way too much wine. I am ready to get serious again. I am going to cut out vegetables for a few days until I can get back into ketosis.

Wow! You look so young!

I went to my clinic to talk to my Dr about not being able to lose weight or get into Ketosis for most of the 17 days I have been on this diet. She really studied my results, had a more in depth urine test done and diagnosed me with PCOS. Which explains why my body was holding on to the weight - due to too much insulin being produced even though I am not diabetic. She has given me medication to start taking tonight and hopefully in the next week, she said I should be able to lose 1-2 pounds. Let me also say that my clinic Dr, for a short period of time, was also my Family Practioner 3 yrs ago so she is familiar with my health history. I have to go, but will fill in some more info later.

Oh, she also thought my carbs were too low in general, so that was not an issue in the not losing weight scenario.

Hi everyone. I have been MIA for awhile and off the diat for 3.5 weeks. Got back today and weighed in and gain 3.4 pounds. Also, discussed other options to weekly visit for financials reasons, plus feeling a little burned out. I got 2 weeks worth of pills and am going to try that route. Im afraid the weekly weigh ins do help keep me focused so we will see.

It happens to all of us. Life goes on. Christmas is a time to be enjoyed, not feared. You enjoyed yourself, and you are back on track. You go girl!

Thank you everyone, I couldn't do this without my wifey support and all of yours. I forgot to mention that our clinic here had a ticket entry if you lost at least 3lbs for the week. I was able to have two entrys in and i WON!!! I got a medi starter kit (the same that we got when we joined).
