McBoo,

After really raking through my charts, I came to the conclusion that it was best to start from square one. As suggested by you and others, the carb and fat may have been too high (and I actually thought I was pretty good about those things - my clinic did not say otherwise). I am going to go back to week one and eat the absolute leanest, lowest in carbs protein I can find for the next five days before my next weigh-in and keep it between 500-600cals of protein. The good news is that I have not gained any weight, just maintained. I was very overwhelmed in the beginning about the drastic changes in my diet so abruptly. I just flew by the seat of my pants but now I get it, I think I really do!

Thanks!

Rhonda,
I haven't tried them because when I first started I asked for an honest opinion about the taste and everyone I spoke to at the clinic I go to said they didn't enjoy it. So I skipped it. Hopefully someone on this board has tried it and can give you some first hand knowledge.

Rhonda - if you can stay away from that stuff you should. I know the clinic allows it, but your best best is real, natural food. The shakes, bars, and anything "fake" can stall you. I learned that from following Atkins (which I lost 30 pounds and kept it off). Plus, it's all chemicals. I take small baggies of Boar's Head luncheon meats with me to work, and I snack on them. They are all natural, gluten free, and low fat. Also, if you can't keep something cold during the day, they make really small cans of chicken or tuna that are good for a snack.

thank you all

I really appreciate all the advice. But breakfast is the hardest meal. I can't eat eggs everyday so today I had cottage cheeses 3/4 c 0 fat. That is a good idea with the luncheon meat thanks.

Breakfast is hard for me too. In fact, I'm eating a piece of chicken now for breakfast LOL

Hi, A strange thing happend. I am now in week 2 and can have some vegies and other stuff. So after my weigh in yesterday afternoon I had 2 small pickles, 30 sunflower seeds, an extra 1/4 cup of cottage chease, and one of the clinics Lolly Pops. (Yea, I know I went a little crazy). In my first week I have been in the Sm. 1.5 range of Ketosis and did not cheat at all. I woke up this morning and have lost 2 more lbs (Home scale) and moved up to the MOD 4.0 Ketosis. This is great. I love week 2.

Hi Rhonda,

I had my Counselor take a look at this protein shake, and she approved it with flying colors. It is made from pure whey protein has 50g of protein is 210 cal with 0-3 carbs depending on the flavor and is 0-1 g of fat. It also has great nutrition. It tastes fine. I have the Strawberry, but also comes in a variety of flavors including Chocolate and Cookies and Cream. This is considered a meal replacement.

Hear is the link:

Isopure Zero Carb Strawberry by Nature's Best - VitaminShoppe.com

Also, if you decide to buy it, print the page of the flavor you want in order to get the internet discount or the store will not give you the sale price.

Hi McBoo,

The Lolly Pop was DIVINE. They have 6 or 7 flavors. When I was at the clinic purchasing them, one of the people waiting to see the Doc said the Lolly Pops give them energy. They were right. I felt great about 20 min into the Lolly. I wish I could have one every day, but the clinic said start with 2 a week.

Noodles

I use Shirataki noodles... they are made out of tofu. They have 20 calories, 0.5 grams of fat, 3 grams of carbs, 2 grams of fiber (1 gram net carbs) and 1 gram of protein per serving. There is a great recipe for fettuccine Alfredo right on the package (I add chicken or shrimp to for more protein). Sometimes I will put them in the chicken broth and add diced chicken and celery for chicken noodle soup. I made that yesterday.

I remember that McBoo had another noodle recommendation, but I don't remember what it was.

The other one is Miracle Noodles which have to be ordered on-line. They are similar but have no soy in them. The shirataki noodles you can usually get in the produce department of major supermarkets. They are in the area where they have the soy cheese and tofu usually. Get one package first to see if you like them. A lot of people don't like the texture. And definatly rinse them a lot to get that nasty fishy smell that they pack them in off.

I have held back in buying the shakes at Medi- because I have heard the same thing. Although I have heard that if you had orange crystal light to it, it makes it taste better. So I have heard. I wish they had a sample packet that you could try before buying it.

You're right McBoo. You need to rinse the noodles thoroughly and dry them too. Thanks for you recommendation on the Miracle Noodles. I think I will give them a try. Where is the best site to order them?

I also found these corn tortillas that are 25 calories, .25 g fat, 5.5 g carb, 1 g fiber (4.5 g net carbs) per tortilla. Do you think we could have these occasionally on the program if we ate very few carbs the rest of the day? Could you imagine eating tacos on the program? The brand is !Tam-X-ico's! and I get them at Publix. I used to have these when I was on Weight Watchers, but haven't dared to use them on Medi. What do you think?

Torn

Hello everyone...
I have been off medi since my wedding 11/22 and gained back almost everything I lost. Of course I feel completely crappy and disappointed with myself. I did so well for the first month on the plan and then with family in town, holidays, honeymoons...ugh. I fell off the wagon and it felt virtually impossible to get back on because I knew right around the corner would be another holiday or event. I know our lives are filled with these and I just need to decide what I want more: homemade bread, pizza and ice cream or a healthy body with a happy mind. Sounds like it would be an easy choice. My biggest problem is my tendency to binge. It's almost like OCD....when I was on plan, I was SOOO strict and as soon as I fell off, I was SOOO bad.
This brings me to where I am torn. I canceled an appointment with Medi back in November when I knew I had fallen off plan and sort of expected they might call me to see what was up but I never heard anything. I am nervous to call and see if they will welcome me back since I could only handle one month before....but sooo much was going on. Also, I am curious if there are any other "restarters" out there who did what I might do. Did you have to pay for all of the initial tests again? I wish I could just get my family doctor to give me a prescription for the appetite suppressants to save money but I doubt she would do that.
And words of wisdom would be appreciated....thanks!

Hi Anne - I fell off the wagon as well. My problem is similar to yours. If I don't follow 100% to a "T" I will binge. I started Medi with the thought of having "weekends free" in my head - meaning I'd follow Sun - Friday, weigh in on Friday, and then eat what I want Friday after weighing in through the weekend. It worked - I lost 15 pounds in 2 weeks. Problem was, after that, I started "cheating" Friday - Monday ... then Friday - Tuesday., etc., etc. I've gained back 6 pounds. I have had several appointments at Medi that I have canceled because I'm embarrassed to go back in there knowing I "failed". I have another for this Friday. No, you don't have to pay all the start up fees again. You go in just like it was a regular appointment. They weigh you and give you your shot and your meds. I am re-starting Medi tomorrow. I still have pills left - enough to get me thru until my appointment on Friday. If I haven't lost the 6 pounds I gained by Friday, then I'm still going to go. If I don't, I will never succeed, and I really, really want to succeed. It's hard when you have a carb addiction, or a food addiction, or an eating disorder, or whatever it is you call it. I suspect most of us probably have this otherwise we wouldn't be as overweight as we all are. I am really glad you made this post. I was embarassed to even post here anymore - afraid to show my face so to speak .... and your post gave me the green light to come back to the board. Thank you for having the courage to make that post. I know it has helped me immensely, because I really do need this board and the folks that post here.

Poohsmommi,
Thank you for replying. That is exactly how I felt (about not wanting to "show my face"). I am going to make a decision this week about going back or trying to work something out with my family doctor.

Susie,

Personally I wouldn't do it until closer to the maintainance phase. It could definatly be a trigger to eat more carbs. Also would you ba able to stop at just one? Think long and hard before trying this. For the miracle noodles they can be ordered at miraclenoodle dot com.

At my clinic, if you don't get the pills, and ask for a 'script, the visit is $45 (this is without the B6 injection). Then you have to take your script to the pharmacy and get your pills. Depending on your insurance, it could be cheaper. Also, my clinic will write a script for 2 weeks worth of pills, in order to save people money. Maybe yours will too? Last time I got a script, it cost me $11 to fill it at Target.

If you are ready to stick to the plan then by all means make that appointment and restart the plan. You have nothing to be ashamed of and the clinic will welcome you back. Poohsmommi I can speak about the Fort Myers clinic since we both go there and I have a few friends that left the program and then came back later with no problems what so ever from the clinic. They were happy to welcome them back and get them back on program.

You both can do this if you really want to. The rest of us are here to cheer you on and help with any questions you may have. Also never be afraid to post because you went off plan. We have all been there at one phase of our weight loss/lifestyle change journeys.

Please read and post often as I really think it does help to see both the success and the struggles that we all go through.

Good luck ladies.

Hi,
I found these Roasted seaweed sheets today at the store they are only 10 claories, 0 fat, 0 trans fat, 0 cholesterol, 20mg sodium, 80mg Potassium, 1g Carbohydrate, 0 fiber, 0 sugar, and 1g Protein. They are kinda like making a burrito. I put seasond low fat ground turkey in them, a dash of hot sauce, rolled them up and they weren't bad.

Hopeforsize6,

Just make sure you follow the instructions and rinse and dry thoroughly. It is very important. You may have to get used to the texture at first but you can use them in a lot of different ways. I am very happy to share my experiences with everyone here and so are a lot of others on this board. It really does help all of us to share the triumphs and struggles that we go thru so others can benefit from them. As far as getting rich Powerball starts here in Florida tomorrow. Maybe I will get rich that way. (Wishfull thinking).

To be honest, I have been afraid to have them on Medi. I'm not worried that I couldn't stop, I'm worried that they are mislabeled. When I was on Weight Watchers I could easily stop at 1 or 2 depending on what I had with them. I would heat them up on a George Foreman grill and fill them at full as I could with veggies and lean ground beef or chicken. Given that the main ingredient is corn, I worry that they are not really what they claim to be.

I will check out the miracle noodles website tonight. Thanks!

Start Thursday

I had joined LA Weightloss and as you have heard they shut their doors without warning. I had lost 45 lbs with another 30 to go. I saw Medi Weigtloss in the phone book and scheduled an apt for Thursday. No clue what to expect or even much about the program but I'm real excited to get the rest of the weight off. Hopefully I can get back to looseing.
