I would use the miracle whip light very sparingly if at all until you find the free. As far as the egg beaters are concerned are you adding anything to them or just the egg beaters? Also what kind of turkey are you having? McBoo Last edited by McBoo; 01-01-2009 at 06:56 AM.. |

Hi Everyone!
I've been on Medi and a reader of this board since November. Most of you are probably familiar with my husband mchestnut. I wanted to congratulate all of you who have reached your goal and applaud those of you who have decided to make a change and start the program. Here is a receipe for an egg casserole I thought some of you might enjoy. I wanted to fix one for Christmas morning but could not find one that did not require milk and bread - so I just improvised and made one myself. So here it is... Egg and Canadian Bacon Casserole 2 cups Egg Beaters (yellow box, no yolk) [240 calories] 4 slices Jones Canadian Bacon [80 calories] 2 slices Sargento Reduced Fat Provolone Cheese [160 calories] ¾ teaspoon dry mustard ¼ teaspoon salt substitute ¼ teaspoon pepper ½ cup Kraft 2% Milk Sharp Cheddar shredded cheese [160 calories] Preheat over to 350 degrees Cut up Canadian bacon and provolone cheese into small pieces. Mix Egg Beaters, Canadian bacon, provolone cheese, dry mustard, salt substitute and pepper. Pour mixture into 9 x 9 casserole pan. Bake for 30 minutes. Sprinkle ½ of cheese on top and bake for additional 3 minutes (or until melted). Cut into 9 pieces. **you can use any type of reduced calorie cheese or “breakfast” meat. Please keep in mind though that the calorie calculation below is based on the specific kinds I listed above. You may need to recalculate based on the calorie content in the specific ingredients you use. Total calories: appox. 640 Servings: 9 Per slice: 71 calories Happy New Year to all! |

Lets start with the turkey and work backwards. If you can eat the white meat and avoid the dark meat that would be a better choice and I bet you know what I am about to say next don't eat any of the skin if at all possible. TRY REALLY HARD NOT TO. Now on to the egg beaters I would have 1 cup which is equivilent to 4 eggs that would be 120 cals. If you plan on having a larger than usual amount of the turkey or plan on having the dark meat or the skin you may want to cut it back to 3/4 of a cup. Add some dry seasonings to them. If you use salt make it salt substitute. Good luck. McBoo

Day 1 - I am hungry!!!!!!! Ok .... I had 4 oz of ham for breakfast; 4 oz of ham for lunch; and 5 oz of chicken for dinner.
I am drinking a ton of water and am really, really tired. Oh, I had a cup of chicken broth as well. I think I may have another one. How long will it take for my body to adjust to this? |

Mchestnut is right. You can do this. Once you have built up to your full dosage of appetite suppressants and take your fat burners it will really get better and you will have a lot more energy. Make sure you keep getting that water in. It is very important. Also think about going in and getting the second MIC injection. I think the clinic may be open tomorrow. I would give them a call if you can get in there if not early in the week. What day is your next visit? McBoo |

Hi McBoo
Just wanted to say thanks for all the help. I want to tell you what I ate today and you tell me if that was good or bad or whatever.
Morning 1/4 cup which equals 1 egg with 1 oz of boars head ham Lunch college in 14 1/2 oz of the beef broth and 1 oz of roast beef I saved all my calories I hope for dinner I ate 10 oz of white meat turkey without the skin. Water diet pepsi and lots of hot tea I figured it to be all my calories with 27.5 left what do you think. Also took all my meds and my tongue is very cottony. I have a dull headache but not really hungry. Let me know what you think. Rhonda |

Thanks McBoo & Mchestnut,
Your advice has been invaluable as I am going thru this first week. I can't wait to weigh in tomorrow. I hope they let me have one of those lolly pops that sit on the counter at the front desk. But I think they are for the second or third phase. All I know is they look good. |

That looks good. You should be fine with that. Just be careful with the beef broth it has more calories and sodium than the chicken. Glad to see you ate the white meat without the skin. Great job. Keep up the good work. McBoo |

Hi Everybody,
I just wanted to wish everyone Happy New Year and a Happy Birthday to Susie! My Husband and I stayed home for New Year's Eve with our 23 month old son and toasted in the New Year with a glass of Champagne. Then for New Years Day, we went over to a local resort, the Gaylord Texan. It is like Christmas Wonderland over there! They have an Ice Show, extraordinary life size carvings of... polar bears, ice skaters, a cottage size Ginger Bread house that we walked through, a manger scene, an ice slide surrounded by flying ice reindeer, an ice bridge you walk over, etc... WOW! The room was 9 degrees and they give you parkas to wear as you walk in to the show. Then we strolled around inside the center Dome of the resort where there is a replica of the Alamo and the San Antonio river walk surrounded by a variety of tropical and native plants. It is quite spectacular. Our boy was snoozing his way home by the end of the day!

Nikki21, Don't feel so bad, I just had my second weigh in and lost "0" lbs! My Husband can testify for me that I measured, calculated, and ate what I was supposed to on the plan. The first weigh-in was on day 5, Dec 24th, in the morning and I lost 10.7 lbs. Believe me, I was floored! I was told to up the calories from 500 to 800 and drink more water... Eight days later along with a nasty cold/bronchitis, averaging exactly 700 cals of protein a day, Dec 31, 2nd weigh-in 0 lbs lost... and it is not my TOM and I am not taking steroids for the bronchitis. I was told that my body was in starvation mode and that I needed to up my calorie intake of proteins to a minimum of 800/day with a 200 cal snack/day. So I have. I do not know if anyone else has experienced this but it helps to know that we all have good weeks in weight loss and other times, our bodies just level out. How is your sodium intake? If it is too high that will make you retain water. If you have the time and care to share a sample menu of what you have been eating and drinking some of us her may be able to see something that may be hindering your progress. This is the first I have ever heard of for a strict compliant person having a zero weight loss at such an early stage; but like you said everyones bodies are different. So if you can post a sample and we will see if there is anything we can do to help. McBoo |

I don't mean to be critical but your calories seem way too high. I am no expert by any means but you should have lost something if you are in a caloric deficit. I have only read about increase in calories for patients on Maintenance phase. The only time our clinic will allow a bit more protein is when we workout. To answer your question about good weeks and bad, YES I found that some weeks I will have more fat loss then others. It seems every other week but I am losing around 3 to 5 pounds on average per week. I know that I am a guy and we seem to lose more, but this is about the same for my wife G8tor girl. I would just question your clinic about your concern. Please let me know how it goes. Thank you

Well, I made it thru day 1. I ended up going to bed at around 7pm last night LOL It was the only way I could keep myself form eating! Plus I was so tired and cranky. I'm happy to say that today is MUCH better.
So far, I have had 1 cup of egg beaters and 3 slices of canadian bacon, for a total of 180 calories. McBoo - I drank the Swanson chicken broth yesterday because that is all I had, but today, I am going to go buy the College Inn in the 32oz carton, like you recommended. I added some parsely and black pepper to my broth, and it was really good. Oh, I had a tablespoon of Heinz 1-carb ketchup with my eggs this morning. I need to record those calories as well. |

Hi McBoo,
I called the clinic about the Lolly Pop's and they said they are to help with cravings. They have Hodia in them and are 24 calories with 4 carbs. They don't want anyone using them the first week. She said I could start with 2 a week my second week. They look like big jaw breakers on a stick. She said they last a long time just like a jaw breaker. They are 5 for a dollar or 1.25 each. I am getting some today after my weigh in. |

got over my first day
Well first day done when to bed at 2PM could not fall asleep taking the appetite suppressant 3x a day with meals. Really don't feel hungry at all and when I do, I drink a cup of hot tea. Went to bed though with a huge headache. But I guess that is the meds. Anyone else have this side effect. And if so how long until the headaches subside. Rhonda

Hi Rhonda, I had the same problem. I cut my meds in half and only took a half pill 3 times a day and gradually worked my way up to a whole pill. I tried to take my last pill at 3:30 in the afternoon so I could be asleep by 10:00. My first day when I was taking a whole pill I did not get to sleep till around 1:30 in the morning. I am sleeping fine now. |

Mchestnut, Thank you for your concern also. I did question my counselor and she said that it was because I am taller than the average woman and that she considers me to have a large build which ups the amount of calories that I should be eating every day. She said I should be eating a total of 1000 cals/day. I am 5'7". I do not have a petite build but I would say my bone structure is about average. I do not workout. I am a stay at home Mom with my son. My Husband and I are going to start to go to 24 Hour Fitness. We just signed up. I will start with stretching classes and the treadmill to help get me going. I guess the proof will be when I go for my weigh-in on Thurs, Jan 8th. I am meeting with the Dr. of the clinic then before it was the Nurse Practitioner. |
