QUOTE=NJRobyn;11434202]Hi Folks. I just started MediWeight in Staten Island on Friday. Have to say so far its been great. I haven't really been too hungry and so far no real side effects to write home about. I've been reading the board and have gotten some great ideas (turkey pepperoni) and inspiration from the success stories. I am really looking forward to weighing in on Thursday.
Robyn[/QUOTE]

Robyn,

If you have any questions, suggestions, recipes or recommendations please post. I look forward to hearing the results of you first weigh-in.

How safe is store-bought rotisserie chicken? I assume I can save calories and fat grams by not eating the skin...I've searched the "entire" internet for stats on what it would be sans skin but can't find what I am looking for...

As long as you take the skin off - not just for the fat content, but because they coat the skin with flour, yeast, etc. The chicken itself is ok.

ok well 4oz approx of turkey according to the package on the 99% Lean is 140 calories
I would estimate about 50 cal for the veggies and little bit of tomato sauce.
the spice mix I use has no calories or carbs and so much flavor. (its the grand union brand)
The low fat cheese is the weight watchers brand is 60 calories for a 1/4 cup and 1 g of carbs... and 25 calories and 0 g carbs for the ff sour cream (both of which are optional)
the veggies are like 5G for a cup and its definitely not a full cup in each serving.

The way i see it its a good option and absolutely keeping me in ketosis.
yipee
give it a shot. Its soooo good!!!

the skin alone is 180 calories per ounce...be careful. Its so hard to not eat it.

I never even looked at it! My husband prepared me a plate and took all of the skin off so I wouldn't be tempted to even have a little. That is the best part...pre-medi BUT, it was very moist and delicious even without the skin! More chicken tonight but this time....with wing sauce!

AnneMe,

The other thing you have to be really careful about is the marinade that they use for the flavorings. Most of them contain a lot of sugar.

I had a really bad start. I was anemic and when I started the plan my heart started pounding and I felt terrible. I lost 5 1/2 lbs in 3 days. I was really excited but felt worse and worse. So I quit. Now I regret it I wish I would have just kept on. Wonder if I call and only missing one week can I just start over tomorrow?

K8ise,

I would check with your doctor first before starting back on the plan. Anemia is not to be taken lightly.

When I drink plain water I drink Smart Water which has electrolytes in it also. It is the only thing I drink when I workout.

Tried the Cafe Caramel. That will be one I won't be buying in bulk for sure. It was OK but nothing great. I will try the other flavors before I go back to my old standby Chocolate Fudge.

I love Ybor City........... such great and interesting history.
My hubby is native Tampa, 4th generation on both sides. I have learned to cook a mean cuban roast pork, black beans and yellow rice (our cuban friends give it ) and our out of state racing friends request it when coming to FLA now. In fact I have to make up huge batch this saturday - no beans and rice for me this time!
What did you have at Gaspar's Grotto?

Nikki,

Remember I am on maintainance so the eating plan is different. I had peel and eat shrimp, stone crab claws. caesar salad no dressing or croutons and grits with jumbo shrimp. All small portions. It was very good we sat outside and they had a nice duo outside playing music. This was there first time trying brunch as they didn't serve their normal menu and it was really good.

****NOTE THIS MEAL WOULD NOT WORK IN THE ACUTE PHASE OF THE PLAN****

In regards to starting over, I am a re-starter and they welcomed me back like I hadn't even been gone. Definitely discuss with your personal physician and the Medi doctor about the heart racing and anemia...I never experienced the heart racing as I have with other diet pills.

I weigh in tomorrow (it will be day 14)...I feel really "fat" today. I think I had too many vegetables yesterday. Ketosis showed negative this morning...but I went strict protein all day and will check again before I go to bed. I was hoping for 5 pounds but I know I'll be lucky to get 2 I KNOW....that is 2 closer to goal but I've been good! The clinic told me that my body reacted quickly to losing weight the first time I did the plan and this time around, my body is not in as much shock so it wouldn't be unheard of for the process to go slower. I am going to Mexico for a wedding at the end of February and would love to be at/near (under..??) 200 by then. That would be fantastic. I think I need to be more careful about measuring things (like condiments...(salsa/low carb ketchup)) I have been eye-balling them and wonder if this is something that has slowed me down. Today's meals:
Br: 2 Egg Whites, 1 tbsp shredded cheese, 1 turkey sausage patty
Lu: 4oz rotisserie chicken from Winn Dixie (no skin)
Di: 5.5 oz chicken breast with Frank's hot wing sauce
Snack: Sugar Free Jell-O

Have started drinking Crystal Lite lemonade to mix up my water intake. I'll post tomorrow the results. My appointment is in the morning...

You are doing so well..just think that long term there is no possible way you wouldn't lose if you continue to eat like this.
I ran out of the low carb ketchup the other day and used the a bit of regular ketchup and it took me from moderate ketosis to trace for a whole day. I was devastated--only to find the next morning back to moderate.
our bodies are sensitive after we get all the carbs and sugar out and sometimes --its just a simple little silly thing that will knock you out.
Best of luck tomorrow...cant wait to hear how you do.
We started around the same time and have a similar goal..
I have an appointment tomorrow too --
think positive!

Good luck on your weigh in. You might want to ask about the store bought rotisserie chicken and see what they say. Let us know how it goes.

Wife bought the Franks Hot Wing Sauce...WOW it is so good and makes a difference. I have read and do believe that ketosis is different for everyone. I also believe you can still have loss when being in negative. Don't beat yourself up over it. You will be okay. 5 lbs is pretty aggressive, I think to set weekly goals really does help. Try to set attainable goals so that you don't get frustrated. 2 to 4 lbs a week should be very attainable especially if you are working out. Look forward to hearing your results today. Good Luck

Mcboo???

McBoo is there a good workout plan for us on Medi? I am almost ready to start lifting weights again, but would love to find a program out there online that I can work with. For Example...Mon, Wed, Fri...and what body parts to work out with each other.

Thank you for your help as always

I had my first slow week. I lost .2 pounds, but was up 2 pounds of water. I'm not disappointed though. I'm going to start measuring again and cut back my workouts just a little. Saturday I did a 1 hr. powercuts class followed by a 1 hr. spin. My doctor warned me about over training during weight loss and told me to do one or the other, but not both. I will take her advise.

Susie,
This happened to me too. I got yelled at 3 or 4 times for exercising too much and they were right. When I cut it back like the told me to I worked very well. It just doesn't seem right be they do know what they are talking about.

I just tried on 4 different pairs of size 14 pants that a friend of mine lent to me. They fit!!!! I'm so excited. So what if I only lost .2 pounds this week.

Go susie go! Just got some EAS advantage and protein to go - hoping this will help with my appetite. I did get a rotisserie chicken for lunch, traditional with no flavoring and pulled the skin off. It was yummy! Also had a protein to go - tastes a little chalky, but hey, I can do it. Just can't eat any more lunchmeat, sausage or eggs. Hope that my taste for those comes back soon!

Carry on, losers!

Weigh-In

Shockingly---I lost 5 pounds! I was pretty surprised. My Tanita showed a 3lb loss this morning but when I went to the office, their scale showed 5lbs. I'll take theirs over mine Mine is a few years old so I'm not sure how long I can count on it even though it recalibrates every time I step on it.

I asked about "net carbs" and such and they told me that to be safe, not to go that route...just stick with X# carbs-X# carbs. She did say, though, like everything else, that if there is something I want to try to boasts a low net carb, that I can try it then check how it affects me.

I didn't ask about store-bought rotisserie chicken but I am sure they would tell me what you have all been saying...marinade and skin are dangerous.

Last night before bed, my ketosis was back to moderate. I did protein only all day and she said that it can happen that fast (return my body back to ketosis).

I finally found the EAS Advantedge. I went to THREE different Walgreens and they were out of stock! I finally found it at CVS. It is about twice the price as the Atkins version so I am hoping I don't like it as much but I am sure it is better!

My weight loss today was about half water/half fat.

That is about it for now...I was looking forward all day to posting...I hope the rest of your Monday weigh-ins went well!

AND...a temptation I made it through today: My sister wanted to have lunch at Panera Bread. PANERA BREAD. That is like the Anti-Medi!! But, I was fine...I ordered a greek salad with the dressing on the side...took off the tomatoes and gave my sister the baguette before I could even be tempted. I know the dressing was not the best but since it was on the side, it let me "dip". I checked their website when I got home...the dressing actually only had 1 carb but sure packed in the calories. I'll calculate the carbs in the salad on my own since the website assumes I ate the tomatoes and onions...

See there .....We knew that you could do it....Congrats

Congratulations AnneMe,

All that worry for nothing. What flavor EAS did you get?
Great job on making the best choice at Panera Bread.

They only had chocolate fudge so that is what I got and I remember you said that is the best. I'll save it for tomorrow. I don't need the boost or calories today.
I am thinking of sauteing shrimp with garlic and putting that over miracle noodles with spray butter and Parmesan for dinner.
Can't wait for my husband to come home from work...I was so cranky yesterday thinking I wasn't going to get good results this morning. (I was also cranky because he used our wedding gift....a BREAD MACHINE...and it smelled sooo good but I didn't have an ounce.) Poor guy...he thought he was doing the right thing and bought the supplies to make whole wheat bread thinking I could have that. He doesn't get the whole "carb" thing...men! HAHA....just kidding!!!
