Dina,

I haven't had any issues with them just make sure you rinse them really well and dry them before adding them to whatever you are going to add them to.

First off, to the ones. I know how you feel. It was such a relief to get below that awful number.

As for the noodles, make sure you keep your protein up while having the noodles to maintain a level blood sugar.

As the weight has crept on, I have avoided a lot of clothes-shopping. It's not nearly as fun so I don't have much of a variety right now. In a way I think I have been punishing myself via wardrobe for not doing something like this plan sooner!

I am still wearing my 18 jeans but they are big---right out of the dryer---however I want to wait until the 16's don't give me a "muffin top" (I hate that expression...). Then, I have a pair of 14's...and 12's...waiting in the wings (told you I had the whole gammet) Oh, and they are all the same brand and cut---American Eagle "Favorite". I've loved those in all sizes

I have been in the bigger sizes for a good 10 years, so anything I had from before would be way out of style. I do have a very high waisted pair of jeans that I think are a size 14. What is really weird is at 150 pounds I used to wear a size 14. Now at 188 pounds, my size 16 jeans are starting to get too big. I don't know if they are making sizes bigger, or if I have more muscle tone than I did before.

I have been doing studio cycling (aka spinning) for 45 minutes, 4 times a week for 2 years now. I also do the machine weights 3 times a week. Since I had already been doing this before I started Medi my doctor had no problem with me continuing and it hasn't negatively impacted my weight loss. I used to have chronic knee pain and the studio cycling has really helped. I popped my ACL and tore my cartledge when I was only 10 years old and have been bone on bone for 39 years. Since cycling, my knees rarely give me trouble. It is a lot of fun and a great calorie burning activity. I love it.

Great job Rhonda. Good luck on making that short term goal. You can do it. I think a lot of the clinics are getting busier since it is just after the New Year. I was unable to get in the clinic I go to on my regular day and I have been going since June 2008.

Rhonda,

11 pounds is excellent. Stick to the plan and you will do it. The insurge of new patients will probably disipate with those not as serious and willing to commit. With this plan being so results oriented and results achieved, I think there will be a regular increase. As the public starts seeing how successful this plan is (and how "typical results" they really are) it will gain steam and become more and more popular. I have had so many people ask me about my weight loss and how I did it (that's how I started, seeing a friends amazing weight loss). My clinic offers $25 off initial visit coupons. I try to pass them on whenever I can. If only they had a referral plan.

BTW...

McBoo,

I missed you in your silent period. I am so glad you are back. I agree about not saying anything if you can't say anything nice, but you only say nice things. No need being silent. We love your advice. You are proof that the program works and I trust your advice. When you don't agree I love the way you put it. I do the same in my marriage..."let's agree to disagree". We don't always have to see eye to eye. I respect that. God bless and thanks for the shared wisdom. I'm planning a trip to the Bealls outlet. Size 14, here we come!

I ordered them online (miraclenoodles.com) but some people say they have found them at Asian markets, etc.

Lori,

Congratulations on starting the gym. It really will make a difference.
As far as the miracle noodles go AnneMe was correct on getting them from the website or asian markets. A lot of supermarkets sell the Shirataki Noodles that contain soy and have a few carbs in them in the refrigerated produce section near where they keep the vegetarian chesse and tofu.

Chili?

Does any one have a good recipe for low-carb chili? Any ideas when adapting a traditional recipe? It's FREEZING here in Florida (I know you guys up north are laughing through your chattering teeth at that)...but brrr! This weekend would be a great weekend for chili I live in the panhandle of Florida and it is supposed to drop to 20 tomorrow night!! 20F!!!

Any way.....lean ground turkey is the only thing I know so far

Cook up some ground turkey or chicken with some garlic, onion/scallion, peppers. Add some McCormick's white chicken chili mix and some chicken broth. (I frequently add in some diced canned tomatoes with green chiles too). You can get pretty inventive. Top if off with some LF sour cream and shredded cheese (small amt) and/or salsa.

Actually yes we found a low carb chili when we tried South Beach. We modified it a bit,,,Buy my wife uses...Ground Turkey...Low Sugar Tomato Sauce, Onions, Green Peppers, and chili mix. We had to take out the black bean but we top it with 1/4 of low fat cheese. It taste yummy.

Protein!

Oh you guys are making me so hungry for Chili!

guys, i am within 7 lbs of my goal and having a very hard time eating. I don't have any appetite and particularly not getting much protein in. I haven't had a b-12 shot in 2 weeks - getting it tomorrow at my weigh in.

Eggs and lunch meat are totally out of the question. I am in a rut right now. I am still losing weight daily, but just not hungry - any one of you old timers ever go through this?

I am sure that the shot tomorrow is going to help. I just wish I had an appetite - ha, never thought i would say that!

I am going to try the AdvantEDGE low-carb drink this afternoon; I'll let you know how that is but perhaps something like that will help you get your protein in. Are you taking all of the appetite suppressants? When I was barely getting in 300 calories, they told me to cut back on the suppressants and that helped.

A turkey burger with some pickles, ketchup and mustard is always a filler-upper. What about cottage cheese? One serving typically packs about 11g of protein.

You are so close to your goal! You don't want to get sick or too weak....

EAS AdvantEdge Carb Control drink would be a great way to get some added protein in and the chocolate fudge (my favorite) is only 110 cals, 3g fat, 2g net carbs and 17g protein and it actually taste good.

Chilli does sound good too since it is so cold and only going to get colder over this weekend. Thanks for those recipes all.

Net carbs

I have always heard about this but am not quite sure I understand....We count total carbs, right? But perhaps we can be happier if there are fewer "net" carbs? Any insight....I forgot to ask at the clinic last time. I knew I had a question but I went blank!

I haven't verified it with my clinic but I only count net carbs. I always subtract out any fiber or sugar alchohols. I do try to stay away from the sugar alchohols mostly though.

I agree about it being too dang cold for Florida. Brrrr.. I have had to wear a jacket the last two mornings.

The EAS chocolate fudge has 4g carbs and 2g fiber. I think you are right in the acute phase you count total carbs and don't do the net. I am in the Wellness Phase (3rd phase) and it works on the glycemic index/load so net works there. Check with your clinic and see what they say. Let us know.

guys, i am within 7 lbs of my goal and having a very hard time eating.

I don't even worry about whether I am hungy or not, I make sure to get in my meals and make sure to get plenty of protein. If you are not getting enough protein in then some of the weight loss can be lean muscle instead of fat.
