jbiggars63,

That is awesome. Keep us posted on your progress. Since you are such a big guy I am curious to see how many calories your clinic starts you out on. Please let us know after you have your first visit. Good luck. I know you will do great.

Hi everyone. Glad to see all the weight loss. Im into my first week since I changed going to the clinic every two weeks instead of every week. I always thought I needed the weekly weigh in to keep me honest, but I think I have been on the plan long enough that Im doing pretty well. The extra time is keeping me honest with my work outs and Im really concentrating on those. Basically using the suppressant and working out well, and keeping to low carb. So far the home scale shows good results. I officially weigh in a week from Friday.

Lucas,

You know the plan and will be fine. Let us know how your results go when you go for your first 2 week visit. A nice loss will be agreat way to start the weekend.

Mchestnut,

Let us know how your weigh-in goes this Friday. Both you and your wife have been doing great and each week brings both of you closer to your goals.

Good luck but I don't think you will need it.

Good luck Lucas! I hope eventually I'll be able to only go every other week (mostly to save money). I weigh-in on Mondays....BLEH....I guess that at least will help me keep honest over the weekend

My computer must have frozen up or something. I didn't see any new posts all day yesterday, then today there are pages and pages of posts. To those of you who reported your successes, a belated congrats! To those of you who are new, a belated .

Last night I made the miracle noodles with butter spray, parmesian cheese and a little salt. They were great. Last night I put the noodles in 1 cup of knorr vegetable soup mix (plus I added an additional chicken bouillon cube). With the dried vegetables, it reminded me of ramin.

Today I made a cheese sauce to have with grilled chicken by melting (in a skillet) 1 wedge of light swiss laughing cow cheese, 1 swiss veggie slice, 1 T grated parmesian cheese, and just enough skim milk to thin the sauce. It made about 4 servings for a total of 110 calories and 3g of carbs. It was pretty good and my family liked it too.

Ann, you mentioned chicken bread. What is that? Anything with the word bread in it peaks my curiosity.

Oops! I meant to say the night before I put the noodles in 1 cup....

BTW... I am having clothing issues, nothing fits. I know it is a good problem to have. I'm trying to decide when is the right time to buy new clothes and how much. I bought 2 pairs of jeans in a smaller size, but now they are getting loose. I don't want to buy too much in a size that I'm just passing through. The weight comes off so quickly on this plan that you don't stay in any one size very long. Maybe a good belt is the answer.

Ohhhh those ideas with the Miracle Noodles sound great! I can't wait until my shipment comes. I plan on making a ramen-esque dish as well and eating it with chopsticks....oh yum!!!
If I mentioned chicken bread...I probably typo-ed and meant chicken breast....SORRY! Unless there is another Anne on this board...?

A good belt or a "cheap"/on-sale pair of pants or something....I have been so many sizes just in the last couple of years that I have clothes ready for me when I get there-ha. The majority of my clothes are from when I was my thinnest (maintained 175 for a really long time) so I can't wait! It'll be like shopping in my own closets!!! As the weight has crept on, I have avoided a lot of clothes-shopping. It's not nearly as fun so I don't have much of a variety right now. In a way I think I have been punishing myself via wardrobe for not doing something like this plan sooner!

I am still wearing my 18 jeans but they are big---right out of the dryer---however I want to wait until the 16's don't give me a "muffin top" (I hate that expression...). Then, I have a pair of 14's...and 12's...waiting in the wings (told you I had the whole gammet) Oh, and they are all the same brand and cut---American Eagle "Favorite". I've loved those in all sizes

Ann,

Darn, you got my hopes up. Although, chicken breast with wing sauce sounds good too. It is fun experimenting.

Make sure you check out the recipes and prep tips at the miracle noodles website, Shirataki MiracleNoodle Shop!. It is important to prepare them right. McBoo suggested heating them in a skillet to get out the remaining water after you've rinsed, soaked and patted them dry. That was a good tip.

Pensacola Area

Where are my Pensacola-area peeps? Anyone find any great stores to shop in yet?

Also, some of you mentioned the AdvantEDGE drink....do you think that would be a good thing for me to use as a "snack" or is it meant to be a meal replacement? I have that window of time between work/working out/coaching before I go home and want something somewhat convenient to tide me over til 7pm. That sounded like a good idea...if it tastes good

I'll have to get some of that wing sauce. Do they sell it at Publix?

My doctor suggested "PROTEIN 2GO". It is a packet that you add to your bottled water that has 50 calories, 1 net carb, and 10 g or protein. It comes in orange mango and pomegranate fruit. I found it at publix. It uses whey isolate which is supposed to help with hunger and energy. You can taste the protein, but it tasted okay.

I'm a buffalo chicken fanatic as well. Winghouse buffalo chicken sandwiches used to be my Friday staple lunch menu along with a 32oz draft beer. I've had that exactly one time since I started Medi on September 24th, 2008.

I've used the Franks hot wing sauce and liked it but I switched to Moore's Wing Sauce and I like the flavor of it better. I constantly crave buffalo chicken and bleu cheese...

Susie,

Try Bealls Outlet. The clothes are decent and reasonably priced but don't buy too much because as you have found out you wont be in that size for too long.

I have found the sauce at every store around here (Winn Dixie/Publix and Wal*Mart)....It is in the section with ketchup and barbeque sauce. There are a few different brands but Frank's has the least amount of calories per serving (5) and zero carbs.

To simulate the hot wing/blue cheese thing, sometimes I have a scoop of cottage cheese on the side.

Moore's is good too, I have tried that one.

During all my research, the only thing I'm worried about is the loose skin issue. As big as I am (size 62 jeans / 5X-6X shirts), I am going to have this problem. Would taking a vitamin E suppliment help lessen this problem a bit? I will ask the doctor at my appointment but was currious if anybodyelse has ever heard anything on this subject.

AnneME98: The Advantedge carb control is what I use and I use it for both meals and snacks. Your right, the vanilla and strawberry have the lowest carbs but the chocolate fudge isn't too bad at 4 carbs (2 fiber) for a change or reward.

AnneME98: The Advantedge carb control is what I use and I use it for both meals and snacks. Your right, the vanilla and strawberry have the lowest carbs but the chocolate fudge isn't too bad at 4 carbs (2 fiber) for a change or reward.

Definatly ask the doctor at the clinic when you go for your very first visit. That way you can make whatever they say part of your game plan. Let us know what they say. It can help someone else that may be in the same situation.

Unfortunately, loose skin is sometimes one of the pitfalls with excessive weight loss. Think of that baggy sweater that doesn't regain it's shape--once it is stretched beyond it's normal ability, the elasticity can be compromised. Losing weight a bit slower, allows for some decrease in this problem, albeit not completely. Genetics play a part as well--good collagen, tone , etc is inherited to a point. This is why you can look at one person who has had gastric bypass and they look stricken by a terminal illness, and others appear to have excellent tone and little sagging of their adipose tissue. I recommend some strength training along the way, so that your muscle tone is at it's maximum for when the fat is decreased enough to reveal it! Don't let this discourage you. There are way to have this removed if it becomes a problem. Some insurance companies will pay for it , if it actually impedes your ability to ambulate or if you suffer from chronic yeast or skin infections due to skin folds, etc.

Definitely ask your doctor...but Krissy is right, there are ways to take care of it after-the-fact. My Dad had the "apron" surgery where his loose skin that hung practically to his knees was removed. He is still over 500 pounds but this was covered by insurance and a result of weight he did lose. I would be curious about the Vitamin E, though...let us know!

Yeah I am starting to have the same issues. Its not a bad thing but I don't want to go out and buy alot knowing in two months it will be to big. I like feeling this way much more then the feeling everything is getting tighter..LOL

McBoo I should have a good weigh in...I weighed yesterday and was 216, I am hoping to be 215 on Friday. That puts me at 35 more lbs to go. The true number will be on Friday so I can't wait.

Bealls Outlet has been a great way to get through for me especially the clearence rack with the dots. I actually found some good stuff I got 2 pairs of shorts and 2 shirts for $11.86. It was either that or tie a rope around my waist like Jethro from the Beverly Hillbillies.

Good luck on Friday. Your goal is closer than you think.
