I am off to the gym and then over to Fleamasters to the new Skinny Pantry Store to see what they have that will work on the program. I will let you know what I find when I get back.

This is the start of my second day. Oh me, oh my a lot harder than I thought. Any suggestions if I go out to eat? Or is that for much later in the program.

If you go out to eat, here are some choices you can make for early in the program (before veggies):

Grilled shrimp (ask for them to be cooked without butter and any sauces on the side)
Grilled fish (prepared same as above)
Grilled chicken (same as above)

I remember eating early on the program at TGIFridays and getting a cajun-type shrimp. It was delicious because the only thing that was on it was a spicy dry-rub.

Chinese--avoid anything on a buffet and order your favorite meat steamed. Low sodium soy sauce will add more flavor.

Sushi--anything without rice, fish is great!

Drink lots of water to fill yourself up and keep yourself busy to avoid temptation. Focus on enjoying the company you are with MORE than the food....that helps me.

If you know WHERE you are going, check out the restaurant website and any nutritional information they might have for certain dishes. This can give you an idea of what to order when you get there.

GOOD LUCK!!

K8ise,
Also make sure you are taking all of your appetite suppressants regularly. That should help. If you are still feeling hungry, you need to let your clinic know. The first few days are the absolute worst but it WILL get better. You'll also get more creative in food preparation. Get some turkey pepperoni to snack on (17 pieces is a serving with 70cal/ 0 carbs/ 4g fat) and some light laughing cow cheese.

I just had my miracle noodles delived and made a Pad Thai. It was great and I am feeling quite fool. My only complaint is that I did not get all the water out of them after I soaked them and they diluted the sauce. Next time, after I soak and dry them I will heat them in the microwave, then drain and pat them dry again before adding the sauce. Yummy! Yet another tip to make this lifestyle change more manageable.

The Skinny Pantry was a very good find. They have quite a few items that are on the medi plan which is great because Terry the owner is a medi client. I will definatly be going back there for some of the hard to find items that I usually get by mail order. If you are in the area you may want to stop by and see if there is anything you might need but can't find.

Susie,

The easiest way to dry the noodles is to dry them in a dry skillet on medium-high heat. It really makes a difference.

mcBoo - can we have an EAS shake every day? The clinic told me to get strawberry because it's only 1 carb, but I forgot to ask if I could have it once a day.

Sherri,
If you get the EAS AdvantEDGE Carb Control (no I am not typing with my feet thats how it appears on the package).

The counts are as follows.

For the chocolate fudge which I think is the best flavor:

Calories-110
Fat 3 grams
Total Carbs 4 grams
Dietary Fiber 2 grams.
Net Crabs 2 grams
Protein 17 grams

It would be fine everyday as long as the calories fit into your prescribed number of calories for the day.
It is also a great source of protein and it taste really good.

Sherri, I see you are in S.W Florida which clinic do you go to?

Meal Suggestion

Morning everyone......
Have been meaning to give you this meal idea I came up with.
Mediterranean Chicken and Spinach
1 1/2 lbs boneless skinless chicken breasts (3 pcs in pck I got. I split these into 6 filets)
Black Olives , chopped
Roasted Red Peppers, chopped
Pam Olive Oil Spray
Garlic powder
Cracked Black Pepper
Lemon Juice
Spray a glass baking dish with the Olive Oil Spray ( I used a 9 in square glass pan). Lay the chicken filets out flat on a cutting board (you can pound out flatter if you wish) spray the filets w/the Olive Oil Spray and dust lightly with Garlic Powder and Cracked Balck Pepper. Place 15 grams each of chopped Black Olive and chopped Roasted Red Pepper on each chicken filet. Now just roll up the filets and place seam side down in the baking dish. I just folded the ends over to meet each other, nothing fancy. Spray with the Olive Oil spray again and dust with the garlic powder and black pepper again. Last step I just put a little lemon juice on the top of each filet, not much. ake at 350 deg for about 25 mins.
As a side dish I made cooked (sauted) spinach with Feta Cheese. Sauted the spinach with Olive Oil Spray and a little fresh garlic. 1/2 cooked spinach got 1/4 c (28 g)Feta.
1 Chicken Roll = 167.5 cals , 2 carb, 2.5 fat
Spinach with Feta serving = 105 cals, 6 carb, 6 fat
I wanted to add some Feta to the chicken BUT did not want to add the carbs!
It was a nice dinner that even my nonplan hubby enjoyed

I have a question about the supplements that my clinic has given me they told me that the vitamins are included in the price each month but the fat burners and the calcium aren't. Is that the same with your clinic and if so do I stay on them after the month or not the clinic told me that I didn't have to purchase them if I didn't want to. If I don't purchase them can I go to like a GNC or Vitamin Shop to get the same thing. Just wondering. Rhonda

Correct, the vitamins are free, but the fat burners and calcium are extra. You will continue to stay on the Fat Burners/Calcium after the first month. I would assume that we continue to take them until we get to our goal. We do buy the Fat Burners at our clinic but buy the calcium at GNC. I have heard that the Vitamins at Medi are really really good. I really don't even take the calcium pills though but we do have alot of cheese in our diet.

I go to the one off of Metro in fort myers. I live in the cape but my mom works at the one in fort myers, so I go there. It's also on my way to work, so it's easy to go in the morning.

Rhonda,
It is correct. Of course you go to a place like GNC to get fat burners or any other supplements. Just make sure they are good quality. You may even be able to save some money that way. You most l9ikely will be on the fat burners until you reach your goal as Mchestnut has said.

The food recipe, tips and ratings of different low carb products are great on this site. It is also good to compare experiences and what we have learned from our Medi Dr’s and Nurses and support each other on our journeys of losing weight, whether we have medical issues to deal with or not. This thread should probably stick to that and not get into prescribing what a person should do on the diet. Sharing experiences, yes, prescribing a diet plan and acting as a Medi Clinic rep, NO. That is dangerous. Unless that person is a Medi Dr/Nurse or a Nurse with a background in nutrition or someone with a MS degree in Nutrition. There is a whole biochemical science as to why and how the body does what it does that gets down to the molecular level. It is actually very complicated. So, if there are any questions as to what can be had on the diet and how much, call your Clinic, ask them. That is what you are paying them for, then share it on the website. If there are conflicted reports between Clinics, stick to what yours has told you. Remember, they have your blood work, interviewed you and also have the health history and medications (if any) you listed on the new patient forms. No one here has that info and cannot make a proper informed decision. You will not get charged an extra weekly fee if you go in and meet with your Medi Dr on a day that is not a weigh-in. It is like getting free medical advice and the proper one at that.

That being said, this diet should be taken seriously because it is a very extreme low carb “diet” and definitely needs to be Medically supervised. The supplements are built around the stresses and effects this diet has on the body, and this is a very stressful diet on the body. Ask the Medi Clinic about the supplements and why you should take them. Mine told me the Omega 3 are prescription strength. Calcium is also a very important supplement because our bodies loose it on this diet and will attack our teeth and bones to get it, if not supplemented. Again, check with your Medi Clinic what your own dietary supplement specific needs are. Someone in their 20’s may not have the same needs as someone in their 40’s or 60’s.

Exercising - also check with your Clinic first and keep them informed, because they may adjust some of your diet ratios to make sure you actually have enough fuel to burn the extra cals needed. In the beginning, my Medi Clinic Dr did not want me to exercise at all. Just do my normal daily routine with my son. For others it may be different.

Remember, this diet is about getting you to a “healthy” BMI and then your personal Medi Clinic will teach you how to integrate back into a healthy eating lifestyle.

Good Luck to ALL!

I feel quite comfortable asking McBoo and others on this board, questions, and, as long as they don't mind answering them, I'll continue to ask. You, however, are certainly free to call your clinic as opposed to asking here.

The clinic has also told me that as well. As long as they are good quality. The fat burners, calcium, fish oil, and vitamins are not prescription pills. The vitamins, though, are strong - like prenatal. Should be really good for your hair and nails!!

Thank you I also agree with you and all on the site. There are a lot of people with a lot of information and they have also have been on the program longer. I ask question in the clinic but when I am not there this is a wonderful place to get information. So thanks Sheri. Rhonda

I love this site and value the input and SUPPORT given here! In fact I was telling my clinic about this site and they thought it was wonderful to have this extra support. I almost get ideas for questions to ask when I go in for my appointments now.

I feel like I missed something...? We all pay to go to the Medi clinics so coming here as a support group is obviously something we ENJOY and use voluntarily to supplement our plan with....hmm....

Anyway....I have an appointment tomorrow afternoon and will post when I get back and I hope there are tons of questions and answers by that time. I check this site just as often as I check my personal facebook page!!!!!!

Holidays are finally over

Hello Everyone,

I missed a week last week...was hectic at home and at work..I felt it though....not getting the shots makes a big difference and I only lost 2 lbs within 2 weeks...but as I see it...I havent gained any...since starting in November...In total- 32 lbs DOWN!!!I havent been excersing either ....which has been delaying me losing more. like everyone else, it tends to get expensive especially the weeks I need to buy vitamins...But I know it will be a good year!!!!

With the Most Sincere Appreciation

I just wanted to take a moment to say Thank you to everyone on this site who has been so supportive throughout my first week. I am so excited/nervous about my weigh in tomorrow at the clinic. I certainly hope I have wonderful news to report back to all of you who have been so supportive.
I certainly would encourage anyone with questions, concerns, or just down-trodden spirits to join this site, as it provides a wealth of information as well as so many personal stories and encouragment. As for anyone who does not feel that this site is helpful or encouraging, please do not continue to chime in, nor bring each of us down by expressing your dislike or personal issues with any other poster. There are many of us who rely on the suggestions of those that have gone down this road before and would be lost without their guidance.
It is so easy to become frustrated, but that should never be taken out on someone who is trying to only help you after your request. I might be out of line, but I feel really strongly about this and I want everyone to continue to get all the support and guidance they need. I know I personally need McBoo's insight as he is clearly someone who made this program work for him.
