Just figured I would start a new thread for October.....

How has it been going every two weeks without the injections. I am seriously considering it.

I have to go to a party this weekend. It will be my first big social event since I started the diet. Any tips on how to get through the evening without blowing my diet? I know I'm going to want to have a couple of drinks. I think that will be harder to resist than the food! From the past few threads I've read it seems that some people have been drinking wine without going out of ketosis. Any tips??

I lost two pounds at my weigh-in...down 18 since Aug. 8. The doctor agreed that my weight loss is slow, but she said that at my age (49) it's not going to fly off of me. I'm just happy it's going down at all, and I feel so much better than I did two months ago. She did say that I need bloodwork repeated in December because there was an indicator tha my thyroid function may be slowing down.

I go every two weeks and there is no difference, I'm doing the same things each week with the exception of the shots. The week I report I get a shot, but I am usually too busy or forget to go for the 2nd shot. I'm losing a lot of inches doing callanetics and taking CLA/GLA combo. They give you enough suppressants for both weeks and I am not paying the extra $70.00 to be weighed. Feeling great!

I can drink two glasses of red without gaining. Just sip slowly and have a diet coke or seltzer water with lime in between. Concentrate on the protein choices that are offered and don't even step near the dessert table.

Krissy, Thanks for the tip. Thankfully, I'm not too big on dessert. I like the actual food. I'm sure I can find some protein and veggies. With the low calories I've been eating and the fact I haven't had a glass of wine in a while, I'm sure two glasses will be more than enough!

LoCarb food

Has anyone ever tried the Cheesecake Factory's locarb cheesecake? I called them for nutritionals, and they told me 1 slice has 6 carbs. I was thinking of eating 1/2 a slice? Also, wondering if anyone has tried carbolite foods? They have pancake mix, etc...
Love the program, I am down 29 lbs in 5 weeks.

(I was having problems with constipation (not enough fiber) and the clinic told me to get the B6 shots, they can help)

Thanks for the tip about the turkey pepperoni!

I am not sure if the clinic I attend will let me have the perscription or give me a shot the second week, but I am going to ask this next visit. I just started the CLA/ GLA wensday. I have soo many great things about them. Have you noticed any stall in your loss isnce taking them. I hear that happens as well. I got mine from Walmart and am taking 4- CLA and 2- of the oil a day. Is that about what you are taking? Congradulations on your loss. It is soo exciting. I have the callanetic video and have not had time to do it yet. I go to the gym six days a week and should try it on sunday to see.

I had my 8th weigh in yesterday - down a total of 27 lbs...WOW! I am so pleased - can not believe the sizes I am wearing - it is awesome - I just went and bought 3 pairs of size 10 pants for work (they were on sale) - I know I will be in them soon! It is very exciting! Hope everyone is having a great week!

Great Idea! This has been challenging just going to watch football games at friends...I miss the beer and chips and dips. But if I stay away from the food table - I can do well...oh and take an appetite suppressant too before I go!!!! Can't wait to hear some ideas!

I microwave or bake some pepperoni slices-- dip into some sour cream dip

Melt some cheese in a frying pan--top with your favorite toppings (peppers, onions, pepperoni, small amt of pizza sauce-- roll up)

Flavored sunflower seeds

Beef Jerky

Strawberry egg cream--mix in a blender: 4-5 strawberries, 2 eggs, 2 tbsp half and half or cream, 2 packets of splenda, crushed ice. Whirl till smooth--just like a strawberry frappe!

Fat Burners

Does anyone use these with any regularity--and if yes, do you find that they make any difference? I stopped the appetite suppressants a few months ago, use the FB's occasionally. Not much of a difference. I stave off hunger by eating enough protein and drinking enough water to keep it at bay. Part of me wants to return to Medi, but part of me wants to still go it alone. I weigh myself daily. Still losing, although occasional slips can stall me. Pretty dedicated to an overall high protein, low carb diet, albeit my caloric intake is well above 500 or 600 calories per day. Slow and steady. I hope to have another 20lbs off by the New Year, but I won't freak if it doesn't happen.

I checked into the nutritional info on the low carb cheesecake. Yes, there is only 6 grams of carbs, but unfortunately there are 610 calories and 29 grams of fat. I only get 500 calories a day, so even half would take up a lot of my daily calories. I haven't tried carbolite foods, but if you do please post because I would LOVE pancakes!

I take the FB reguraly now. I skipped a week and felt a difference. The Dr also told me that I needed to take them expecially if I was eating things or protein higher in fat.

There is no way I could eat 1/2 slice of cheesecake. If I even have a little taste of sweet, I am off to the races.

It is only my 8th week - but for weeks 5 & 6 I used them only on occassion and then ran out completely - I bought some more at my last appointment and used them as directed for last week and had a 7 pound loss last week. So I feel they made a difference...but I don't know for sure!

I agree with you! I could not only have 1/2!
So I have to stay away entirely. (Glad there is no cheesecake factory near me!)

Thanks for the tips! I love the pepperoni and sour cream dip- I eat them plain now...but with dip- I won't feel like I am missing out on anything at all! I will have to try the smoothie - that sounds delicious!!! I can make it through the weekend now!!! Any thoughts on the new Miller Geniune Draft 64 calorie beer - 2.6 carbs I think????
I stick with red wine now.

Hey Everybody!

I weighed in yesterday and lost 7 pounds over the last couple of weeks. My lean muscle mass is down though and I didn't lose as much fat as I had been.

Survived my first party! Stuck to protein and veggies, no dessert. Had a few glasses of red wine but I'm still in ketosis today. Wasn't as hard as I thought it would be. Feeling proud of myself today.

Congrats Kimmer...wish I could say the same. I've had my first setback. I got into a bowl of candy last night, and let's just say the damage was not pretty. Doing my best to stay on track today!

2nd week weigh-in

Is it possible to not lose much weight the second week? Ive been working out and sticking to the diet--Im eating probably 600 calories rather than 500 but I feel better physically because of it.

I've been weighing myself every other day and I know I know, I said I was going to stop that but the number has been hovering right around where I was at my last weigh in. What gives?

I've added working out to my regime, and have worked out 3 times this week and intend to today. Any chance Im just gaining muscle? Possible to lose fat and replace with muscle and thus my weight hasnt changed? Please say yes

I didn't have a big weight loss the second week either. I only went down 2 pounds. They said I actually lost 3 pounds of fat and gained 1 pound of muscle. I was really disappointed, but I'm just sticking to it, trying to work out also and hoping for better results this week.

Kimmer,

I hope I get some good news like that! My weigh-in is tomorrow and I am very nervous
