Newbie!

High everyone! I am really excited to have found this place. I just started Medi a week ago and had my first weigh in today. I lost 12 pounds...9 of it was fat! I have read some of the past threads and am so thankful for the suggestions and recipes from those who have been doing this a little longer. Does anyone know of any pasta/noodles that we can eat while on this? I am missing pasta! Also, what do you guys think of walden farms products? I am very nervous about this next week. I am on vacation from work and will be visiting family - hopefully I'll stay strong. Congrats to everyone for their hard work!!

Very cool. I was able to wrap a regular large bath towel around me the other day and got a little happy about that myself.

Hi Dabbadooey,
I am new to the forum, but have been on Medi for 6 weeks. Question.....did you have a hard time getting them to let you go every 2 weeks? How did they handle the meds? I need to cut back to every other week for financial reasons.
Thanks!

hi there. Had my week 6 weigh in. Was concerned about it but still ended up losing 2 pounds for a total of 21.5. I may need to do some things to kick start thinkgs but I am still losing and still chugging along.

Welcome Halliesmom! I have to drive 45 minutes to get to my clinic. I simply could not go every week. There is also an option to go once a month, but I do not know what that entails.

I weiged in today. I was a little confused. They said I lost ten pounds of fat but gained 4.5 in water. So I am not sure if I should be happy or what. Im drinking a ton of water. But they said it could be because of my TOM. Lost 22 lbs in three weeks. Not bad. I put on a pair of jeans I couldnt wear a week ago. So I guess the water weight isnt slowing me down to much. I want a pasta sooo bad. How do you make meat ball soup? Sounds good. Im soo tired of tuna.

Weigh in today.... 17.8 lbs total for my first month! I'm sooooo excited.

I'm down at least one size in pants, I think a few more pounds and I can be comfortable in the next size down!

New treat I love...Promise Super Shots. They are with the yogurt in your grocery store. Only 45 calories and a boost to help with blood pressure (lots of potassium) or other issues like cholesterol. (By the way, the potassium helps you let go of water weight)

Congrats on all the weight loss everyone!!!

Congratulations on your loss, YOU ROCK Is the yogurt a low carb, higher protein type like "Carb Wise"? there are also other brands by different names depending on the region of the country you live. I don't count calories but I do count the carbs. I would love to try some new yogurt, I'll look for it at the grocery store. Keep up the good work

I started Medi on 8/14 and have lost 22 pounds so far. Optimistic but it's still a mindful task. Glad to find some friends!

CONGRATS about the jeans! That feels sooo good! I'm down to about 5 things in my closet that I can't get back into yet- which is much better than 15! Keep it up everyone!

I think I may be out of Ketosis? Are we suppose to stay in Ketosis the entire time? Im in week the start of week 7. should I go back to week 1 diet? Im not looking forwarded to that at all? Im going for a mid week MIC so I will ask then.

Hi there,

I just started this 4 days ago and I am miserable... LOL. I am not hungry exactly but I am so light headed and weak. I am going to for the shot MIC shot tomorrow, but I am actually worried about driving.

It has been a VERY tough weekend.

About the shakes though...

My doctor gave me a sample, to see if i liked it before I bought it. He also told me to blend it with about 8-10 oz of water and a good amount of ice cubes, and add in a spoonfull of instant decaf coffee grounds, and it was WONDERFUL..

I hope that helps someone.

I've been out of ketosis for about two weeks and starting my protein only again tomorrow. *sigh and grrr* The ladies at the clinic said ketosis is not the only definer in whether you're burning fat or not. But they did say I should be minimally in the ligtest pink area so yes... technically we should be in ketosis for the duration of our weightloss phase.

GOOD LUCK!

Welcome Anjetta! The first week is definitely the hardest but keep reminding yourself it only gets better from there. Just 3 more days! I was also shakey and lightheaded during my term. I think I was on the bridge to becoming diabetic but it passed.

If it's truly bad enough to be hesitant on driving then maybe have something a bit more substantial before leaving. A shake is good, maybe some nice ham and eggs or something of more quantity than normal. You'll have to sacrifice the intake later but at least you'll have something in your tummy while driving.

Best of luck!

When you completely eliminate carbs from your diet those first few days, you actually can experience hypoglycemia (low blood sugar--shaky, weak, irritable, lack of concentration) as well as dehydration (exhaustion, foggy thinking, weakness). Your brain uses two things only-- glucose and oxygen. Your body eventually breaks down everything you eat into usable glucose for brain function and energy (calories). You probably need to eat something with some element of carbs in it to feed your brain. I don't believe that anyone should have to suffer like this (diet or not). It is just not healthy. Eat some protein carb food= cottage cheese, some sugar free pudding, glass of milk or a few wedges of laughing cow cheese. You should feel better. Stay hydrated as well. The enormous amt of diuresis from the high protein will tax your kidneys and deplete your potassium (which can also cause muscle cramps).

Hi there,

Have been doing well with Medi-Weightloss. I'm losing slower than most of you, but since I've been on at least a lower-carb since 1995, I expected that. I am seeing weights that I haven't seen in years, so I am very happy.

We had to go buy me a new wedding ring yesterday. My original one keeps falling off, and I don't want to resize it until I'm at the weight that I plan on staying at, so we got a temporary one without the sentimental value that I can keep resizing as I go. My ring size has gone from a 10 to a 7.5 in two months!

So, hang in there, it just takes patience!

Thanks for the encouragement sarahque. I am not losing as fast as some here, but I am on the road to greatly improving my health, and at 49 it's just not for vanity anymore!

HI there. just got back from my midweek MIC. I told them of me coming out of ketosis(due to Beer) and they said to give my body a few days to get rid of the beer, and on the normal diet. She says if I dont go back into ketosis on my own by friday, then I will need to go back to week 1 diet for a few days. Im generally not a beer drinker at all, but was out at a game and did not plan for any other options. I have been able to stay in ketosis and still have a few glasses a wine a week and still loose. I guess the beer is what did me in. Hopefully, I can get back in without going back to week 1 diet but we shall see. Will plan for a long walk tonight..

Hi everyone!
Just wanted some ideas here...
I am coping with my first cold of the season I have done great so far on Medi, but this is not the best diet to be on if you feel lousy! I am trying to find comfort foods that are Medi approved but also sound good when you are under the weather. Meat does not sound great with a sore throat, and I know that my old comfort foods (mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, ice cream) won't fly Any advice would be appreciated. I weigh in tonight so we'll see how it goes- I haven't cheated no matter how tempting it has been!

I make a nice soup with chicken and shrimp. Saute up some garlic and onion, add in some sliced scallons, chicken broth, cilantro, lime juice and Goya seasoning packet (optional). Throw in some peeled shrimp and chopped chicken. Serve steamy in a bowl with a little lime juice and hot sauce on top.
