Hello everybody....
Linda, For the OE, click TOOLS. ACCOUNTS...make sure the SMTP info is what your cable compand gave you. (that's the outgoing address) if everything looks ok call RoadRunner and lay the problem at their feet- sometimes the switch to "server authentication" and oyou have to put an X in the box, sometimes "secure server" is needed. They'll fix you up. I'm not sure if WIN XP even has System Restore (Win ME does). It's not without it's dangers (buggy) so don't go there til you absolutely HAVE to. It can kebollux things up really bad when it's ornery. New floor looks really stupid where new (fakey oak meets old- aged fakey honey maple)...Well, hopefully I won't have to look at it long. I guess reality will demand that I live with rugs in any 100 year old house I buy...floors just don't live that long. But I'd NEVER have wall to wall...I want something that can be removed and shampood. I've never seen a wall to wall that looked really cleaned...and in-place shampooing is a rip-off..the dirt just sinks deeper. Later edit:...yoi, a new product at the A&P: IRRADIATED CHUB BEEF...it's a $2.99 hamburger (75%lean, aka fatty). Sounds AWFUL. I wonder why they didn't have it UNREFRIGERATED....so even the A&P must diubt the "sterility" of the irradiation. These are the things you spot when bored and wandering around Jersey City!....LOL Last edited by zip2play : 03-28-2003 at 10:28 AM. |

HI Crazy 8s.
Dh caught 5 crappie the other day and none yesterday. They are in the freezer for a later date. Today is really windy and rain predicted and then cooler temps for the weekend. Got out early and got our 3 rose bushes fertilized before the rain shows up. Planning on spending a day in the kitchen grinding flour. Shawnee did you have a flour grinder. I was checking them out on the web and some are quite pricey and some others are not bad, maybe $70. Do I need this appliance? I can just do what I am doing now or get a big rock and do it that way. What did those Indians use to make corn meal???? I even found some directions to make your own grinder with some lead pipes. Shawnee I used your Barbeque Sauce Recipe yesterday on my spareribs and I really liked it. After Dh found out that it had mustard in it he said that he wants to know what is wrong with the regular stuff. He sure finished up his ribs though. Those Blueberrry Bars are a Keeper. Now to find frozen the frozen ones. I am into this “flour” baking now. Zip some old wood floors can be refinished. We have lots of carpeting and worst of all in the bathrooms. I wish I had something I could wash on those floors. I do like my w to w in the bedroom. Good luck on the house hunting next week. I will be heading for the 20% off sale at the Golden Carrot Health Food store on Tuesday. Susan what book did you decide on reading? Hope you are enjoying those RAYS in a big way. How about the low carbing? any problems there. Ginny I would think you could plant some tomato plants in the green house in containers and get a jump on them. Maybe it would upset the girls though to have a foreigner in there with them. Boy I think Shawnee sure would like to have a Green House too. We should tell Bob. Linda if they want you there at the facility they will be so happy to have you that you can set your own schedule. Go for it. You seem to be able to accomplish a lot and enjoy being busy. Pam I hope Polly is on the mend. Are you fitting tuxes this weekend? Shelly we won’t be far behind you with that pollen soon. I dread that stuff getting all over the car especially the windshields. I froze up the rest of my Blue Berry Bars after eating one for breakfast today. Out of site out of mind. But I have them scheduled in to my menu. Later guys Loretta Last edited by Loretta V : 03-28-2003 at 10:42 AM. |

Hey gang!
A beautiful Friday here! Temps in the 70's, and partly cloudy. Just what all y'all wanted to hear in the frozen/mushy northern climes. Orchid show in Huntsville this weekend, just going to spectate and for some retail therapy. Shawnee, on average, how long is your dryout before you can do some serious yard work? Maybe you could start with a rice paddy? First tulip blooming here now, a pretty little orange and cream colored one. It may be the only survivor (moles love them I think) but we shall see if the purple/white one made it alive. Daylilies are over a foot tall...won't be long for some of them to start spiking. Zip, yep, sounds like time to move in to a HOUSE and not have to deal with cheapo maintenance people. I know you'd be much happier owning your own place, even with the headaches involved. That way you could do it RIGHT the FIRST time. Don't procrastinate and let all the good deals get away LOL. Loretta, saving up for a fish fry, huh? Sounds like a good deal! I know the guys can do serious damage to a mess of crappie here--about need to cook up a washtub full just for DH. I'm not big on crappie, but bass and stripe are very good. Even if your DH didn't catch anything, I'm sure he enjoyed his time out there on the water. Linda, do you really think you want to work? You seem so happy to be close to retiring again....but who knows, just keeping one foot in the door may not be too bad. Just be sure to leave plenty of time for yourself to do the fun things you want to do! Shelly, staying busy still! How many sessions of VBS will you be teaching? Never did that myself as a kid, but friends did and once I went as a guest for an afternoon. I remember it being fun. So what other plans do you have for this summer? Pam, how's the baby doing? Hope she's feeling better, poor little one...so hard when you know they're hurting and there's nothing you can really do but love them. Susan, soak up that sunshine and get lots of relaxing in! Check in as you can. Well, I reckon I better lurk for a bit then get ready for another day in the grind.....y'all have a great Friday and I'll pop in during the weekend.

Gosh
I have no idea what a crappie is. Anything more technical...a carp (crap?) maybe. Does it taste better than.....crap? Ginnie, thanks on the: " know you'd be much happier owning your own place" That hit home and it's really the core of what I must keep telling myself- what else, after all, is there? Ginnie...three weeks into Phonecia's last bloom...THREE new keiki. Should I lop off the top 2 (on the last keiki) and only keep the lowermost (the only one on the original spike). Loretta, I tried a carpet in the bathroom for about a year...never again. It was always wet. Clean ceramic is the perfect bathroom floor. TinkPam, gosh...how many teeth does the poor pup have left? With 20 gone, can't be too many. Linda, any luck on OE? I know whwn it goes rammy life (as we know it) becomes Hell. Enjoying the martinis but thinking of quitting FOREVER.....that will be a BIGGIE...biggger than anything EVER in my entire LIFE...honest! |

Hi Y'all
We are starting to get some real sunshine this afternoon...our first day of NO rain in over 4 weeks...gonna be out there soon...chilly but inviting! ![]() ZIP....owning your own home means you never have to say " I'm sorry..." to parapharse something or other...it certainly has its pros and cons, but there's lots of joy involved, to do as ya dang well please.. Guess each puter has its own temprament; my Restore has been a Godsend for fixing lots of my problems. That Phonecia is one busy and pampered Lady, you'd go absolutely wild in Ginny's GH.Loretta, guess you've got your hands to the Grindstone today, so to speak..LOL....No, I don't have a flour grinder, just 2 coffee mills. I think if you want one, you should have it ...gotta be faster .....and you may even get into grinding your own Rye, etc. I got some store-bought Oat flour, the consistency is like white flour![]() Hmmm...was that the BBQ stuff with the vinegar/water, spices? The Indians used stones or wood to do the grinding...here's one of mine I inherited..down't have the bowl..( I grew this corn a couple years back, and dried it)...NO, I don't grind the old hard way.. ![]() ![]() Stuff to look at: http://www.cherokeeswestern.com/art/grinding_corn.html http://www.nativetech.org/scenes/grindingcorn.html Ginny, if we got several days of sun and a drying wind, we might be ok to do some digging. Rice paddy is about it for right now...or cranberry bog..LOL I have a few tulips just starting to bloom now, its a real spirit-lifter...not so many came up, so I'm suspecting your moles, or voles, or shrews. The slugs have the decency to wait til they bloom, THEN destroy them. Enjoy that Orchid Show ![]() Geez, I better get outside while there's the threat of SUN! be back later ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 03-28-2003 at 02:55 PM. |

Hi magnificant ones.
Roger, It's the darndest thing! I went back to OE several hrs later and lo and behold it was working. I had sent something from my free yahoo to myself to save there and it showed up. Gremlins?? Ginny is right, you will be much happier owning a house. If you take a mortgage, think of the wonderful tax deduction. You are handy so you could refinish floors, lay ceramic tile, etc. Hell, If I can do it, anyone can. Edited to add a crappie link. They are found all over the country. My son ice fishes for them . http://www.crappietales.homestead.com/ Shawnee, Gosh I envy you the nice weather and tulips blooming. Nothing here is coming up yet. Thanks for those sites. It's such cool stuff. My grandmother didn't leave me any of her Indian things that she used when I was little. Maybe she just got rid of them. How's the painting coming along? Loretta, LOL THese men are quite something aren't theY? Sometimes I think we shouldn't tell them what we put into our sauces and such. I don't have a flour grinder either. Like Shawnee, I have two coffee grinders. They work fine but you can only grind about 1/4 cup at a time. Ginny, OMG temps in the 70'? Wow are you fortunate. Weatherbug in my task bar says 55. Tomorrow it will cool off and Sunday we are in for some snow showers. Don't work too hard tonight and enjoy the Orchid show and retail therapy this weekend. Susan, We are all anxious to hear about the beach trip and book. Hope you are enjoying warm sand between your toes. Get lots of info on houses for sale. I'm sure you will find some that aren't quite so expensive. Shelly, right now I wouldn't mind a little pollen. It's too darn cold now for much of anything to bloom. Pam, check in girl. We all want to know how Polly is doing. I'm curious as to how many teeth a dog has too. Hi to our favorite lurker. What's up with you? I won't know anything about the job till at least next Thurs. so I'll enjoy this week off. Later gang. Last edited by LoveMontana : 03-28-2003 at 03:39 PM. |

Good evening crazy 8s,
Wow, do we have 6 -lready! Great to see that!We went to the beach today. It was pure bliss looking out at the horizon. DH and I, just a couple of quiet ole folks looking out to sea! We still cant get over seeing the Eagle yesteday! How magnificient and regal they are! High up too, DH is wishing he had brought his binoculars!Yep, I was bowled over with the housing costs! How do people afford them. I wanna know what kind of job pays that well????Think a double wide will be on the agenda for us! Just reading through the postings, we could all be self-sufficient, if we just focussed our attention. LOL! Loretta and her DH catching the Fish, Ginny and Shawnee growing tomatoes, veggies and fruit for those blueberry bars. Wow, peaches and things growing in the GH or garden. Now where we live, we can grow only in the few summer months. We can provide Water all that thawed sneux! Maybe this will be a trend for the next generation of Seniors, shot gun, fishing tackle and gardening tools, just so that we can EAT! Shawnne: I guess, you can cancel the contract on the Ark building now! I was thinking about your wallpaper stripping. Did you ever hear of the Downie soaking, it is suppossed to bring off the most stubborn paper! Lovely pic, soooo rustic! Sorry, I could not open the joke in my email, dont know if DS has the program to open it. He is so busy with his business, havent had chance to ask him yet! So I am still in the dark, like the proverbial mushroom! Pam: DH and I were discussing Polly's dental surgery last night, and wondering how she was doing? We went out for drinks and finger foods and she popped into my head. We did not know that dachshunds are susceptible to gum disease! Thank you for the heads up! Will keep a look out for Oliver! They are all pearly white now at his young tender age. God bless Polly, hope she is not in too much discomfort. Linda: We certainly intend to check out lower-priced neighbourhoods. I said to DS that we dont mind living OUT a bit, what is a half hour drive to retirees? I think I will emulate you and always have a little contract tucked up my sleeve. Now if I can just break into the Florida Public Health System I may have to go the nursing route! Havent done clinical nursing for years! I still have my licence, as I need it for the work that I do with Public Health. Florida is crying out for nurses, just not the type of nursing that I do!Shelly: How wonderful a daffodil festival! "A Host of Golden Daffodils" come on Zip fill in the verse! The sausages, onions and peppers are great legal food. WTG! yummy! satisfying and filling.Zip: Your own Place! Space! Liberated from Landlords! Yep, you can do it! How is the Tax form-filling goin! The giving up booze forever IS a biggie! I have met many AA members that join my Smoking Cessation groups and they say, the hardest for them is quitting smoking. The last thing to go after the booze is the smoking. "The one drink away from a case" is often quoted. "One drink is too much and a 1000 is not enough" is also mentioned. We all have our addictions, the secret is, to change that tape inside our heads, so it plays a more harmonious tape, that is in tune with our body. After all we are only Human! Change the thinking, change the behaviour! Hope this helps!Ginny: Wow! Great temps for you! Enjoy the Orchid show in Huntsville and retail therapy. Does that mean you will buy more Orchids?? Loretta: Wow, Catch of the Day....5 eh?? Fish, that is what I am LCing on, down here! It is no problem! Thank YOU for asking and keeping me on the straight and narrow. DH and I are not coffee drinkers and therefore do not own a grinder. So I was unable to grind the flax seed to make the flax seed meal for the ricotta pancakes. Looks like I may have to invest in one, if I am to graduate up to the blueberry bars level. It will be ONE YEAR on April 4th that I have been LCing! So still learning the advanced stuff from you gals! Waving to our favourite lurker, in between shifts gal! Susan ![]() |

Linda thanks for adding that link to the Crappie for Zip. I think they taste like Orange Roughy or close to that. A little thinner though. Like you sometimes my mail works and sometimes it doesn't. Tempramental OE.
I used my nut grinder to make the flour. I don't have a coffee bean grinder. I made some Almond flour, and some Oat flour. After I ground it a few times I sifed it then reground it. Looks good. I want to be ready to bake when the urge strikes and not have to take time to "grind" the flour. Shawnee I thing I pass on the petsel and bowl for now. Thanks for the offer. Susan my x lives down in Fla somewhere about the middle of the state in a double wide on a golf course. My sons that have visited say that it is nice. MAJOR LCF POSTER!

Hello, Crazy 8's. There is a little improvement in Polly today. She still isn't taking in enough fluids, I don't think. She'll drink a little milk, but not water. Appetite is good, though. She's sitting in her usual spot on the recliner with DH, her favorite person in the world. Polly has 6 teeth left. I believe they have 32 altogether. Believe it or not, the vet said in time she will be able to eat a kibble type food. She said their gums get hardened after a while. For now, she's eating a prescription food canned diet, at $1.00/small can. But, it's packed with lots of calories and nutrients. Tuesday, I'll go down to W. Sacramento to baby-sit 5 yr.old DGD. That's the day they're having the memorial service for the young man who passed away this week.
Zip--In what area will you be house-hunting? How great to have your own place! When you mentioned the martinis, how often and how many? Are you able to have 1 or 2 a week? Or, is it just best to not have any at all? Loretta--Yup, will be working Sat. and Sun. this week. It's usually Sun. and Mon., but Oscar has to go to Reno tomorrow, and asked if it would be possible. So, do you get that yellow/green pollen stuff too? Ours shows up around late June. Ginny--You deserve a relaxing, retail/therapied week-end. With the great weather, it'll be great! Shawnee--Looking at the stone in your pix makes me appreciate the modern devices we have nowadays. People had to work so hard years ago. Linda--You enjoy this next week, and do whatever sounds good! Working 8 hours a week might be good. I work 16 a week, and that's enough for me. Susan--You may just be on to something there. Living the natural life, free of materialistic trappings, stress, etc. Have Oliver's dental care done every year or two, and he'll be fine. My little one's wouldn't let me brush their teeth, especially Polly. The hundred or two put out for that is worth it. Shelly--Yeah, think I'd put up with a little pollen versus the cold, also!
