Ruby Spring Tuesday...3/25

Good morning skinny folk:

First let me share a major reason for wanting to move (and a good laugh)
My KITCHEN, ta-daaaa:

How would you like to try cooking a Thanksgiving dinner in THAT. Twenty points in the game of life for anyone who can spot room to store an extra serving spoon!
(sorry about the green hue- a momentary lapse: I couldn't remember the camera setting to account for Tungsten/fluorescent/daylight...gotta pull the manual).

Allentown (which was planned for tomorrow) is on hold ......rain for us both...don't want to inspect homes and gardens in sog! Gonna re-schedule. I will try to plug a complete physical with my new (and yet unseen) doctor into the mix.
I'd also REALLY like Bob to be able to come along as well- after all he's coughing up half the ante!
Brother-in-law (a trucker) volunteered to get a truck from work and move us whenever we want. THAT would earn him a lifetime of points in MY book.

Four mile brisk walk went well yeaterday- TODAY, the bike!

More later.

(Susan, If you can open this in Florida get some extra rays for the zipster.)

Good day to everyone.

Heading out in a few minutes to get a couple of errands done. Just finished the book I was reading and have the next one ready to start. Tonight is a meeting at a local church to present VBS materials to the public. It's hard to believe that time will soon be here. Will try to fit getting my hair done in there somewhere! It is time.

The weather was beautiful yesterday and even warmer temps are forecasted today and for the next couple of days. I walk the yard and sit on the porch when I get a chance.

I can understand how you'd want to move, Zip2Play. It has got to be a challenge trying to work in such a small place.
LOL at the "spot room to store an extra serving spoon!" comment.

Enjoy the day everyone.

Hi Roger and Shelly.

Roger, I can understand why you want to move. Those expensive urban appartments are convenient to cultural events but don't give one much room to entertain comfortably.
LOL, I see a bare spot above the stove that you could store that extra spoon.
Sorry your plans are on hold, but it's a good idea to have Bob look at the houses too. Have you picked a date yet?
Bless your BIL for offering to help with the move. That will save a good deal of money.
Let us know how you like your new doctor.

Shelly, enjoy the wonderful weather in beautiful NC.

Susan, have a wonderful trip.

Loretta, Ginny and Shawnee, what's up in your corner of the
world?
Not to worry Shawnee, I did go to the doctors last Monday and have been on Biaxin and my steroid inhaler. These coughs last a long time.

Pam, are you home yet? Check in when you get the chance.

The countdown has begun. YIPPIE!! 3 more days of work, and I will turn in the keys and badge and go back to being poor but happy. Fortunately I don't work more than 4 hrs each day.
Made more yogurt Sunday so I'll have some before I go to work.
Later gang.

Hey y'all,

Another gorgeous day here! The cooling in the gh is getting a little workout with these warm and sunny days. Good to know all is in order before the hot weather hits! One of the day shift guys quit us yesterday--found another job. That means not only are we short handed once again, but guess who will have another trainee in the near future

Zip, my gawd, how do you function in that kitchen! Ours here in the house is 9 x 23 including the eating area, and we are talking about expanding it when we redo the floor! Also, one of my requirements is lots of counter space (which I have) and even then it gets a bit crowded sometimes. Reckon I like to spread out a bit.....keep us posted on the developments, and hurry up with looking at the house--your kitchen makes ME claustrophobic!

Shawnee, I know what you mean about the drone of mowers! It was that way here this past weekend too. I know you and Pup sure had to enjoy getting outside for a bit. You both were probably comfortably worn out by day's end. Good feeling, huh? Tennis balls and cookies would be great...and we can always find another 'squishy rug' for an extra pup (read as saddle pad, the dogs love them!)

Shelly, sitting on the porch is so relaxing! We have a large porch on this old farmhouse, and we set out there a lot during the warm weather. We also hang a couple hummingbird feeders (time to get them out again) off the porch and watch their antics too. Do you have them around your place? I never could get your addy to work on the email so when you get a chance, resend please?

Susan, I know you're enroute already, but wishes for a safe and wonderful trip! Check in when you can!

Pam, where are you?

Loretta, what are you going to plant this year? It's about that time once again, and I'm considering a tomato plant or 2...in containers.

Linda, glad you're feeling better, now to get rid of that cough! I very seldom do any annuals, but this year I have a unique hanging basket hanger to put on the porch and will have to find something to fill it with.

Well, all, time to get moving! Have a wonderful day!

Hi to all

Gee Zip thanks for that pic of the kitchen. Well you don’t have to take a lot of steps in there. You can just turn around and reach what you need. Reminds me of a cottage we stayed in one time. You had to turn the coffee on before you got out of bed just by reaching over.
Phonecia is beautiful. What a doll. No luck with Shamoo. I am thinking about find her another home with a better grower. It is not a bad idea to visit those places even if it is raining so you can check for leaks. Today is the Feast of the Annunciation BTW. (Incarnation)

Susan you lucky girl you are on your way by now. Hope you have great time and if you get busy relaxing don’t worry we will be here when you return. Enjoy!! That word reminds of me of the hostess the other evening when we went out to dinner. She must have said that word at least 10 times. (she is a new owner of the place and I guess trying her best.) The one thing I wanted they did not serve any longer. It was an apple tart with ice cream. Oh well.

Linda you are sure counting down those days to retirement. I just love being home. Glad to hear that you are taking some rx for that nasty crud. Get well soon.

Ginny too bad about another personal change. You will be training again soon. Our weather has been beautiful too. DS helped me with some yard projects yesterday. Quite windy though and storms later today. I will plant my usual tomato plants about 6 of them and some spinach. I will wait to plant this year until around April 20 or so.

Shawnee they must do something to those pics in the magazines. I have rarely seen some plant doing a whole lot of blooming as they show them. Especially the pictures in the seed catalogs where the tomato grows to the size of a melon. Hope you liked the Blueberry Bars. I sure will stock up on some cranberries in the fall. DS and I played 3 games of Scrabble and they were close games too. I like it when it is a challange. I won 2 out of the 3. We had fun and I sure enjoyed his company. He left yesterday evening after dinner to go back north. The grandson did not give us an address nor have we heard from him. I am not sure if I can mail anything to his address from when he was in Afganistan. I guess I could try.

Gee Shelly does the general public have to approve of the materials presented in the VBS. I guess it is a good idea. Some teachers here in Ky did not like it that the Darwin theory of evolution that was presented in their textbooks and they tore those pages out. I wonder if they did not look that over before it happened. It just brought a lot of comments about the entire situation. My DSD is a 2nd grade teacher. The teachers sure are involved in a lot of extra hours above and beyond the school hours.

Hi to Tink. How was that pageant?

Have a great Tuesday all and stay well.

Loretta

I'm checking in. Out of town for the week-end, worked yesterday. Back & forth on the 'puter, and housecleaning today. DD (younger pgnt one) just called with sad news. George, the fellow who escorted me down the aisle at her wedding last August, passed away today. Apparently cardiac arrest secondary to a severe asthma attack. He was a very nice young man, probably in his mid thirties. Left behind a long-time girlfriend, and 6 yr. old son, who was ring-bearer at DD's wedding. Shocking. We never know when the good Lord calls us home. I pray for the family, and friends of George.~~ Tomorrow, my beautiful dog, Polly, will have oral surgery. It has been very much needed.

Zip--I thought my kitchen was small! Geez, my DH would never fit in yours. How nice of your brother-in-law to help with the move. That'll save so much energy, also $$!!
Shelly--VBS brings back my childhood days in the Baptist Church. Such good memories, and so good for the kids. Won't be long till that time is here. Is VBS Vacation Bible School?
Linda--3 more days--COOL!!!! I'm just working to make the payments on a Suburu we'd financed for younger DD before she got married. They bought a SUV, and he has a Mustang. So, we took the car back. Ahhh, so much better to drive than the Izusu Amigo. The Amigo is fine for 4-wheelin', but isn't a family friendly vehicle.
Ginny--You are getting to be a pro not only on your beautiful orchids, but training new people. Thanks again for sharing the beautiful orchid photos!
Loretta--We are not going to the pageant in Newport Beach. Hines Horticulture, where older DD was asst. Gen Manager, closed their doors. So, maybe we'll go next year. Fortunately, DD is financially secure for awhile, and is spending quality time with her 19 month old baby, and active in Junior League.

Hi Y'all

I'm still painting and scraping off wallpaper...ugh..however, I'm hoping this last "fix up" will last a LOOOOONG time, so I'm trying to do it right..and well...

Geez, ZIP...your kitchen was built for a fashion model, a tall skinny one who never cooks...that's about the only size person who could manuver gracefully in there...and obviously you like to cook, so I hope your future house has a huge kitchen. Your BIL is worth GOLD !

Hi Shelly..I have fond memories of a VBS when I was about 5...memorized John 3:16 and earned a RED pencil! ...still a nice memory over 50 years later.. Enjoy that porch all you can

Oh, Montana..was I having a CRS moment bout your Dr. visit?..anyhoo..I'm so glad you went, and hope you can soon get rid of that cough. Glad your last work days are short ones.
I had a mental telepathy moment this afternoon...sitting in my messy kitchen, partially painted and ripped-wallpapered...and said to Bob...wish DGBrat would show up and rescue me, come and take me away from all this for awhile...
within 3 minutes she showed up! I changed clothes faster than Superman, and got the heck out! LOL..we went to a few shops and I forgot the whole mess for awhile. She is also doing her own thing, tearing down wallpaper and installing crown molding.

Ginny, back to Drill Sargeant again soon, with more training of the new recruits...Ha, your kitchen measurements are nearly the same as mine....but I have the washer/dryer taking up the far end...there's no such thing as having enough counter space. My fantasy dream home will have a huge pantry and miles of counters...
Pup and I are packing now...forgot to mention, we both snore... ..is the invite still good???

Loretta, I sure hope you hear from DGS soon. Gee, I miss playing Scrabble. Yes, the pics are "phonyied-up" with air-brushing...
The Blueberry Bars were delightful, Thank you! for the recipe. DGbrat tried some today with ice cream...Bob will probably finish it off tonight.

Hi Tink, glad you are back. What sad news you got, sure causes us to stop and appreciate LIFE..and realize how we take it for granted. Hope all goes well with Polly tomorrow.

To all, be well and safe.

HI Susan, you lucky Gal!
