SUNDAY, March 23rd
Rise and Shine and this SUNday morning!
The temps are Soooo much milder up here. The rain yesterday washed away a lot of the sneux, we have patches of grass, not green yet but grass. Oliver brings in the odd broken branch as his trophy, reminds me of the "Doves bringing back the Olive branch to Noah,"after the storm was over...........I know a bit of a stretch....funny how the ole mind works. LOL! Stayed on the straight and narrow last night at DD's. The sauce was a little heavy for DH, too strong a cheese for him. I loved it, all legal, cream, butter, herbs, cheese....he did add pears but I only took slivers for a treat. Been sorting and dumping papers these past couple of days. Finally my Mind is back to normal and can cope with the categorising, organising....just gotta do it more regularly then it wont be such a chore. I am sure those winter doldrums are Seasonal Linked. I am totally feeling mentally stonger! Glad to see that you are all on top of the yard work. I'll be back later! Susan Last edited by SuSUN : 03-23-2003 at 08:43 AM. |

Mornin' all,
Up late last night, so just starting to really move today...got a few things to do in the greenhouse, and will be making the effort to do some Suzy stuff as well as catch up on my orchid inventory/scanning. Susan, WTG on the 120! Good job! That last lb will come off soon too, so don't worry! I bet you're chomping at the bit to get to some warmth and sunshine. Shelly, we have Ryan's here too, went last night and I behaved myself. The one we go to has a steak buffet that is WONDERFUL! The bleeding hearts here are getting big--even saw buds on one yesterday as I cleaned out flowerbeds! Spring must really be here now! Shawnee, the sunshine felt great yesterday, and it's out again today. Wishing you could enjoy it with us too! If it peeks out for you, grab Pup and a tennis ball for a break in it and ENJOY! Linda, hope you're feeling better today...those bugs just suck. And you certainly don't want to pass them on, but know you'll miss dinner with the moms. Feel good quick, y'hear! Loretta, cannas are just starting to peek up here too. THat was one of the beds we cleaned out yesterday, and saw some shoots starting up. Our bed is a bunch of mixed ones, but don't know the names anymore...just pretty! Zip, hope the aches leave quick! Rumor has it ol' Arthur is a nasty feller. My medicine cabinet will soon include allergy stuff as it is time once again to cut the yard. Yep, country girls get allergies too and I'm even allergic to hay dust--go figure! Pam, hope the weekend is wonderful for you and yours. Have fun with the gang, and we're awaiting results! Well, off to try something with these pics.....

Hi Susan and those who follow
Glad you enjoy that dinner Susan. It is a nice feeling to get organized and feel accomplished about that, until the next pile comes along. Good to hear that the grass is showing through for you. Ours is starting to green up, weeds mostly. Zip do you take the Omega Fish Oil? I think they keep those joints feeling better. That and the glucosamine with chondroitin. I have Dh taking both of them and his hip has really become almost pain free. His other aches are lots of time weather related. Hope you get to go on your house look this week coming up. Linda enjoy a quiet day. Your moms will appreciate not catching that virus from you. Did Gerard get sick at all. My brother is very health conscious. I did tell him of my results but he will only do what the DOCTOR tells him. He started to take some lecithin a friend gave him but I don’t think it will be effective until he gets off of the pills. I went to the flag site to get my flag to waving. Thanks. Shelly I enjoy reading a good book too. I never did care that much for John Grisham tough. I have read a lot of Jim Pattersons books and Sue Graftons mysteries. I like them, medical mysteries and some lighter romance novels. I enjoy Nicholas Sparks also. How do you find time to “Listen” to the books? LOL I guess I find time to read them. How old is that DD of yours? Shawnee no I have not baked the Cranberry Bars yet. The recipe does call for 2 eggs, flour, sugar, nuts and the cranberries. Simple enough and makes a 8x8 pan of them. My sister gave me the recipe a while back. Smart gal that she is she put a bag of cranberries in the freezer when they were in season. I wish I had some of your energy for cleaning. I guess that the bug will bite me soon. I feel it approaching. Ginny I did not get to view the orchids. Where am I suppose to be going to look at them? Hope you are enjoying the nice weather we are having here. Hi Tink hope you are enjoying your weekend with family. Later guys |

Hello everybody,
Ginny, Thanks for the snaps- your setup was fantastic...I have to size the pix to my screen as soon as I get my editing software up and running (and understandable)...such a nice collection of ribbons, you must be proud. I look forward to making pic #2 my destop background for a spell. What is the name of the light purple-pink/white phal immediately above the upper blue ribbon? She looks like Phonecia's sister. Susan, Are you all packed yet...Florida sun beckons. I remember one March I drove from snowy winter-dead Pennsylvania to the Everglades and a different version of Spring unfolded with every couple hours South. Daffodils in Maryland, green in the trees through Skyline Drive in Virginia then onto an incredible BLAST of magnolia trees up and down every street in Savannah then a full blooming wetland...Wici Wacki(Sp?). and the FINALE: the Garden of Eden, aka Cypress Gardens where it was, for all intents and puproses, full summer and 95°F...all in 48 hours! Loretta, I'm taking Cod Liver Oil (a week now), fish oil sounds a bit too iffy for me (like vegetable oil). I took a years worth of Chondroitin/Glucosamine and all I got was a lighter wallet for my trouble. One year (continuing) on MSM (6 grams a day)...so far that's garbage too but I have a TON left so I'll use it up. I've got my hope for 8 grams cod liver oil a day. Dale Alexander (a bit nuts) always said that cod liver oil was the lubrication for the joints and a dip-stick in the ear was the way to measure it...like I said: Nuts! I know sometimes an effective agent will cause pain before it kicks in- I have an open mind! I enjoy my daily cod-liver oil and lecithin snack. Shawnee, Wonderful duck job.... With all that rain are people being found huddled in cellars consumed by fungus?? Now watch them start hollering about a drought come July! Everybody: Here is a WONDERFUL real estate site to see what the houses in your neighborhood have sold for. I found out some SRTARTLING stuff about the area where we sold mom's house...too bad not all areas are well represented- give it a whirl: http://list.realestate.yahoo.com/re/homevalues/ Unfortunately the asking price of the house I'm looking at is definitely in the mid-range of what they've been selling for so I doubt a big discount is in the cards. Julliard is doing SCHOOL OF NIGHT tonight. It will follow a nice roast Long Island duckling at Mr. Goodbar's joint (the All-StateCafe)...weather is sublime...sunny and 60°. It looks like Allentown Wednesday and Thursday, and sister doesn't know a computer from a breadbox. If I get to local library (and I remember to bring the doofy site password), I'll say hello. Otherwise I'll fill you in when I get back. Last edited by zip2play : 03-23-2003 at 01:27 PM. |

Good day to you all.
Church was really nice today. We went to a church out of town and they also served lunch. They had lc foods that were right up my alley. I stuck with the baked chicken, bbq, green beans and slaw. It was nice to just come home and relax instead of fixing something to eat. Dinner is another story but for right now, I'm stuffed. Getting organized is a chore, Susan. You're right, when done regularly, it makes things so much simpler to keep track of. Got your PM, OrchidCactus and am looking forward to seeing the pictures. Thank you. Loretta, I've read a few J. Patterson books and want to read S. Grafton's. I can't recall the name of the J. Patterson book about the children who had supernatural abilities as a result of scientific experiements but that one was really something. Listening to books was easy when I worked full time because of traveling and lunch hours. Since I opted to go part-time, I've rediscovered the enjoyment of eyeballing the words and creating imagery the old fashioned way. There are so far 10 books in the Left Behind series and I'm up to the challenge of reading them all. ~ My dd is 12 and in the 7th grade. The pre-teen blues are just around the corner!Hello, Zip2Play, you're busy as usual. Enjoy. ![]() Last edited by ShellyNC : 03-23-2003 at 01:59 PM. |

Me again....
Zip, are you talking about the phal midway up sorta on the right? If so, that is the Wallyworld rescue you so loved in my PI site! Just a little washed out from the flash If you're talking about the plant hanging in the center with the fuscia blooms, that is an ascocenda Queen Florist--it has the 3rd place ribbon on it (hard to bleach out a WHITE ribbon!)Ah to have had a digital camera...... Shelly, pics are on the way, now just waiting for Susan to pm me her email addy and I'll have you all! Loretta, did my email come through with the pics yet? Let me know and I'll resend if necessary! |

Ginny, So sorrry you were waiting for me!
I have just come up online. I have been on the phone with a member in my group. She is doing fine and missing the support group. She lives alone and we talked for an hour, the least I could do, as I am blessed to have a family around me and my buddies here! Loretta and Shelley, I've been looking around my bookcases, at unread books to take to Florida. There is plenty of time on the flights and then sitting around at the beach etc... Zip, that must have been a whirl, seeing all those seasons in the range of 48 hours. We always just fly over and arrive in the Tropical temps from the Frigid Artic! We drove once to Myrtle Beach, that was enough driving for DH we have flown ever since! That must have been 10 years ago now.Linda, hope you got chance to enjoy the milder temps today and put those feet up! Pam, what ya been up to at the Arena???? Shawnee, have you been out playing tennis ball with the PUP? Till Tomorrow! Susan |

Hi Y'all
HOORAY, we had an afternoon of SUN,,,56° and windy, but felt like Spring. Pup and I did get outside for awhile; she got brushed and pedicured on the deck, then we did a little investigating of the plant pop-ups...tomorrow we are promised a partial day of sun before the rains return ..yet again...tomorrow night. HA, ZIP...If I HAD a basement, it would be flooded...and this brown stuff sprouting on ME is Fungi Isn't it great to be privy to Ginny's wonderful BLOOMERS?! WHOOHOO ! We are all (almost) as excited as you about going to see the HOUSE! Hehee, of course, we're glad you get to visit your Sis too.Hi Shelly...your after-church feast sounds spectacular...did all the best cooks bring their "Sunday Best" dishes they are locally famous for? Ginny, you have really impressed us with those orchids. Its so nice of you to share your triumphs with us. Pup got in some good play today...I pick up branches and put them in the wheelbarrow, and she takes them out...my precious helper You have BUDs on your bleeding heart??? Put a bed in that greenhouse, I'm moving in!Loretta, your Cranberry recipe has me craving some...I haven't baked for TWO weeks, can you believe it? Sure hope they turn out well..I feel the need for goodies...maybe I can make your version with blueberries, since I have some of those...Recipe, pretty please?? When I read a novel, it seems I always mentally assign actors to each character......Hmmm, wonder if Hollywood needs me...LOLMontana, hope you are improving daily. Bet the Moms were disappointed to miss Dinner with y'all, but better safe than sorry. Take care ![]() Tink, how was your busy weekend? Give us the scoop. Susan, you are blessed to have Oliver, he brings out the best in you. The War situation is heart-breaking...now more deaths and POWs too. Let's all, in our own ways, support our Vets. Shawnee |

Hello everyone,
I haven't been on line much today, and boy was it nice. Just hung out and watched the war and cleaned this house. Feeling a bit better today but bummed out about this damn war.Shawnee, It's great that you and pup got out to enjoy the beautiful sunshine and warmer temps. Sorry it's going to get nasty again. Susan, glad you had a good time at DD's and and are feeling better. Winter blues are the pitts! Roger, thanks for that link. I'll be playing with it frequently. We will all be waiting for the report on the house. Loretta, are you doing any fishing with your dh yet? The weather must be nice now. Shelly, Isn't it great to work only part time? The church dinner sounds wonderful and legal too. Ginny, thank you so much for sharing the pictures. They are fantastic. You must be so proud of those babies. Pam must be enjoying her weekend away.
