Shawnee,

Which real estate addy was it that you wanted? You posted a nice one on contracts, Linda posted the one on price comparisons and I posted the one on MLS listings (Pennsy at least.) I have them all.

I'll be shorter today. Getting a nice long visit by Mr. Roities (first name Arthur.) Joints all achey and feel swollen: knees, shoulder, upper back, hands. I tried some old pills yesterday (from my sister) called Tolectin...all it did was keep me awake- maybe a coincidence.

I'm fiddling with some diet thoughts I might try: vegetarian, or low-low-low fat. I often think of my 95 pound friend Vicki who would eat 1 lb. of pasta at a sitting and then finish with an Entenmann's cake (the whole cake)...and not fain weight. I think she hasn't had a pat of butter in 20 years. I'm looking for something that might be less "inflammatory"- who knows maybe there's a tie in between diet and joint pain (and I guess ultimately heart health because inflammation is being implicated in heart disease more and more.) Reading an interesting book: EAT TO WIN, Robert Haas. Anyways, I wouldn't die for a weeks trial of No-Fat (oy, what the Hell can you cook, though).

Good Morning, Rise and Shine my fellow Maintainers!

We have steady rain with a mild 3 Celsius, with a promise of sunny breaks, rising to 8C this aft. Yippee, Spring is here!

Packing day today, but there are always last minute things. I am trying to get everything in there, so leaves very little for Tuesday morning. I am a little nervous of flying but the desire to see DS will overcome that. These days I keep saying to myself that I have had a good life and managed 54 years, living past my Mother.

Yesterday I typed a long post with tidbits to everyone and lost it, as DH picked up the phone and cut my connection! He didnt know I was online still. So I just left it at that. It takes me so long.

I was exceptionally good at the Vegetarian restaurant. I could not believe how in control I was. My portion was small too, as you help yourself. I enjoyed the company and conversation and I did feel full on the portion that I chose. Scales down this morning 120lbs only 1lb to equal my goal! I'll take this as close!

DD and her DH have invited us over for dinner tonight. The menu is a Chicken-Pear recipe! He loves to cook. Yikes, watching those carbs. He usually cooks several veggies for me, so I can fill up on those. I am a tad worried Only 3 days to go to reach 119lbs will I do it?????

Loretta, Thank you for the answers on the red wine sugar content and the nuts. I think the nuts are natural but I did buy the salted, they are almonds from the bulk grocery store.

Zip, your plans for a new WOE sounds like a change, how about variety, vegetarian one day, etc... I think Loretta has gotten our WOE combined with low fat, she calls it a Win-Win combination! I do too! It really helps with those blood lipid results. She was thrilled with her last results as I was too! I guess we will always be tweeking on this BB.

Wish I could do the yardwork and join Shawnee, Ginny, Loretta and Shelley. Wow, pansies.....what is colour????? We have only seen the white stuff for Sooooo long now. Those petals are a feast for the eyes.

Waving to Linda, Shawnee, Shelly, Ginny and Pam. I'll check back later, time permitting to see whats happening with ya'all.

Susan 120lbs (1lb to go!) 3 days left

PS I forgot to mention that I saw a fairly large boat being towed yesterday on my way home from the restaurant. It's name was KOKOMO! Is he up here visiting????

Good morning, friends. Off in about an hour to Fresno and W. Sacramento for the week-end. Older DD, her DH, his 13 yr. old, and I will go to a Jr. League Gala. Jack, my DH is going to babysit the 19 month yr. old DGD. Then, bring back the Subaru, and see 8 month pregnant younger DD in Sac. I'm working Sunday's & Monday's now, but only when available!
Zip--Give it a try. Anything to help with the joint pain.
Susan--You're almost there. 119 and Tuesday will be a wonderful day for you.
Linda--Good for you on getting that needed sleep. That is the best thing!
Loretta--I know your DGS will return home safe and sound. He is one of our heroes, and will be remembered in my prayers.
Shawnee--I want warm weather, too! Well, Fresno and W. Sac. will definately be warmer than here.
Ginny--Enjoy the yardwork today. We don't generally get spring here. It jumps from winter to summer.
Shelley--Wow, what a nice compliment you received. But well deserved!
Now--the coffee to wake up! I'll read up on y'all Sunday night, upon my return.

Hi to all today

Zip what the heck will you eat on Low Low fat? I sure like my butter now. There are some things I will give up but not all. I gave up the half- &-half, cream, full fat cheese. I guess mostly dairy. I still eat red meat as I did. Occasionally fish but not that often. I hope you don’t get extreme as my D brother. He only eats fish, chicken, tofu, and no beef at all. Soymilk and other soy products. Sure his cholesterol was 138 (on drugs) but his HDL was only 38 and he exercises daily. I sure feel comfortable now (since those last results) doing it this way. Now the doc is increasing or changing drugs because his HDL is too low. What a vicious cycle.

Ginny hope you are enjoying this beautiful day there in Tn. I have been out in the yard racking up those old leaves. I got some surprises underneath those leaves. Some of my things I planted last year are on the way up. I was getting excited out there. The plans are rolling. My good friend gave me a bunch of cannas bulbs for my birthday. I have found just the spot for them but the ground needs to be a little warmer before I plant.

Linda I guess you will be able to have the moms’ for dinner this weekend, if you are well enough for it. Hope you are feeling a lot better after that good nights sleep.

Tink you stay on the go there in Tahoe. Hope that pageant turns out great and those kids get more ego boosts. Be safe.

Shawnee hope you get that kitchen project wound up soon. I think you had a big job on your hands what with emptying out those cabinets. Deciding what to keep and what to toss and where to put what to make it all work better. You will be glad to have it done with before the real nice weather gets here. If a recipe calls for 1 cup of flour what would you substitute? It is a recipe for Cranberry Squares. (I was thinking oat flour 1/3 cp, almond flour 1/3 cup and don’t know about the other 1/3-cup. I have some flax meal.) I ended up buying dry cranberries. I could not find any frozen ones nor do I have any in my freezer. They have sugar but I am going to give them a hot water bath first.

Susan WTG on that 120. Mighty close there to your goal. Enjoy that Pear Chicken. My x MIL used to make a chicken dish with prunes and cream of mushroom soup. It wasn’t bad but I can’t get DH to eat it. Just cut back on your portions as you did at the vegan restaurant, and up your water and exercise for a day or two.

Hi to Shelly, our fav lurker and our other lurkers.

Have a great weekend all.

Loretta

Hello gang,

Roger, I'm so sorry you are hurting, but do you really think low fat or one of those crazy diets will really help? Someplace I have info on C-reactive protein being lowered by low carb. It may be in Laura Richards research site. If I find it , I'll post.

Susan, glad you made out well at the Vegetarian restaurant. congrats on being only 1 lb from your goal. Just don't get all bent out of shape if you don't make it. You will get a lot of exercise while you are in Fla.

Pam, Have a great weekend with the family.

Loretta, How on earth is your brother able to stay on that diet plan. YUCK!! Did you show him your lipid results and tell him how this woe helps?
Glad you are seeing signs of spring under those leaves. We can finally see grass since the snow melted.

No dinner for the moms tomorrow. I don't want them to catch this bug.

Shawnee, are you still painting, or did you get time to play outside with pup and plants? Remember, we want to see pictures of that paint job.

Ginny, hope you are enjoying some nice weather. DId you get your plants put back in the gh?

Shelly, HI

It felt really good to just hang around and do nothing today since I didn't sleep well last night. Grrrr. I usually sleep like a rock . Oh well at least I'm getting better. Off to lurk a bit then watch the war.

Evening all!

It's been a long day. Dd's tae kwon do testing was from 8:30 am till 11. We came home for a few hours and went back for the promotion exam at 2pm. It was after 4 when they finished up. Dinner was at Ryan's - a buffet restaurant - and now we are in for the evening. I was going to wash my hair but that can wait. It was really pleasant after we got in and I sat on the porch and read a while. I'm working on the sequel to Left Behind by LaHaye & Jenkins. It's been ages since I actually read a book. Audio cassettes had become my choice. Last Summer I got thru several John Grisham books that way.

Hope you're feeling better, Zip2Play.

Susan, congratulations on almost being back to goal. 120 is great in itself! ~ The pansies I planted are yellow, purple, and white. I noticed today a Bleeding Heart I planted last Summer is coming back. That's one of my favorites and the first one I've planted. If I had been home today, I would've been working in the yard. The temps were in the 70s.

Thank you, Tinkerpam. ~ You certainly stay active.

Hello, LorretaV and LoveMontana. Hope rest comes easier for you tonight, LoveMontana. Having a day without something pressing to be done would be so nice. ~ If my flowers do well, I may post a few pictures. Keep in mind my green thumb is still budding.

Thank you, OrchidCactus, for the tip about Preen N Green.

Hi Y'all

Our 23rd day in a row of RAIN...but who's counting ???

Our grass is tall enough to keep a herd of sheep happy for many moons....dratz, I have no sheep! Ginny, send the ponies

Poor ZIP...sorry you are in the ache zone.......so true, about the diet for those aches: NO caffine, alcohol, chocolate, acidic foods...Good luck finding something that works to relieve your hurts. Please pass on to Montana whatever I sent to you

Shelly, I'm a J Grisham fan too...but I love the old-fashioned way: reading the book. TV isn't my thing, well...love the Cooking network...and Paul James, the Gardening Guy...and then there's Christopher Lowell..LOL...guess I lied about watching tv!
My OLD Pink Bleeding Heart is about 6" high...will get to about 4' tall and 5' wide in May-June. I planted a White one, but it wasn't as hardy, only lasted 2 years. Who can resist a Pansy-face?? Too cheerful!

Susan, you are SOOOO blessed with that wonderful SIL ! Hope ya have a great evening with family...and congrats on that 120 !

Tink, hope the sun is shining brightly in Fresno, and you have fun with your bunch.

Loretta, I'm sure you've already made that Cranberry thingy...Hope its LUCIOUS ! ..yup, Almonds, Oats..and flax, or Gluten, or WW will work. If ya went with flax, did ya add in a little Gluten or Xanthan for binding?..or were there several eggs?
Isn't it just the most fun to find treasures popping up in the yard?!
Have a super visit with your B-day Son tomorrow.

Montana...are you feeling more like your ol' rip-roarin' self ?
Yup, still painting, repairing, dinking around, washing mini-blinds in the bathtub..all the fun things.....had a short NON-rain break this afternoon, so Pup and I went out..cold as hell, but we pooper-scooped and picked up blown-down branches...and breathed outside air! The Daffys are so bright, tho a bit chewed from slugs.

Goddess, I sent the addys...the PICS are exotic! Hugs to Furbabies, bless their muddy little paws.

Later, all
Be safe and happy.

Shawnee
