Toisday in Joisey
Dies Irae, Dies Illa
Solvet seclum in favila. <Strinking breast and coughing out the ashes of the decesed...or was that 25 year old cigarette tar residue> (See, I remember my Latin...Sister Mary Circumcision was a good teacher or was it Sister Mary Wrath-ofGod, or Sister Mary Transubstanciation....anyway, the MARY is right.) Well, predicted morning snow turned out to be morning rain (for awhile anyway)...It will was away the do-gooders salt. I hope they put the god-awful things away for the year; I'm tired of wearing vinyl shoes. If I get ambitious enough to do the PhotoIsland Samba I'll put this morning's Phonecia up! Not gorgeous but pretty nonetheless. I'm still drooling over Ginny's Carrot Cake. A dear friend made the BEST with the cream cheese icing of course ( have the recipe) and all...it was sinful. Unfortunately her ashes are among those distributed yesterday. Hmmm, but I DO have those limes??? Faucet drip is driving me nuts. I DREAD calling maintenance in because the stupid noooodges will probably drop my ceiling or break through walls. I even went to Sears to buy the washers and springs myself (one arm Delta model)....damn SEARS doesn't sell plumbing parts anymore. Who the HELL needs Sears for clothes, bedding and towels I ask you? NO WASHERS!!! Pile of "whites" intimidating me next to the desk (that way I cannot escape them) so I'd best toddle downstairs and start washday. I gave up on the cart-to-the-laundromatte to save some money. Even we skinfints have to value our time and comfort once in a while! No more rolling wash (made me feel like Marjorie Main (Ma Kettle)! Later skinny gaters. edit: As I was typing this , the rain turned to HEAVY SNEAUX!

Good Morning Zip and you Magnificient Maintainers!
Thank goodness it has stopped sneuxing up here. We had 25cms or 10ins yesterday. It is a beautiful clear day, but cold again! Only about 4 more weeks of the deep freeze and I shall miss one of them in FLA. When we get back mid April temps should be normalising....I hope! Been on a binge the last couple of days. Got under CONTROL this morning. Had egg, bacon, sausage, toms for breakie. Just had 1/2 lc choc bar. Avoiding the carbs, seems I cant even taste a little and then I am off like the carb addict that I am. Yep, fessing up here! Need to get in shape lose the 6lbs that has crept on since Christmas adding more carbs daily till I was full blown HOG wild! I guess this is the learning curve; allowing-limiting the amount of carbs during maintenance! Zip: Do post your pics, we are needing some splashes of colour on the BB a change from the outdoor scene. It is pretty today with the fresh snow, glisening in the sunlight. I know it is cold as Oliver is extremely quick with his potty trips. Gotta go into the Office today to do some photocopying for my weekly hand-outs. It is great they have all the different coloured paper there and amazing machines. Gotta drop off the cash from the sale of the patches have 2 weeks to deliver and collect some more for the participants. Preparing the Graduation Certificates as one group ends in 2 weeks and we have a ceremony and celebration. They do seem to pass by more and more quickly these days. Earning my Senior Citizen status now! Better get ready and drive into work. I'll check back later to see what's happening with Y'ALL! Susan 125lbs goal 119lbs again |

Hi to all the crazy 8s
Zip why don't you use your shopping cart to put that laundry in? or is that not allowed. I love reading you posts and you make me smile Ma Kettle. We still do sing some Latin at our church. Our present youg priest is stuck on a pre vatican 2 era. He mostly talks about penance, prayer and adultry. we have lost a lot of members due to his "old time" version of religion. I would gladly switch to another church but it is a 50 mile round trip versus a 4 mile round trip and DH. I go to the other one during the week. Sounds like your back is feeling better if you are off todo the laundry. Be careful. Susan you are even busy before you get out the door to go to work. You will get control back soon and get rid of those extra lbs. Not much going on here but I need to pay some attention to my house cleaning today and get out for my walk. Will check back later for updates. Loretta |

Yeah Loretta, back is a lot better. I'm trying a new theory. Since I have gout I have taken a bunch of colchicine (I seen some experimental work). Normally colchicine works ONLY on acute gout attacks- NOTHING else...but it may well be that gout and acute back pain are related. I think it may be working well for me.
That will be my test of the new doctor. I will quietly ask him to provide 90 colchicine with 12 refills...I plan to take them profylactically (3 a day). If he gives me a song and dance....he can kiss my monthly Oxfoord check bye-bye. My standard for a doctor is that they can be as stupid as the day is long, IF they'll do what I tell them. My last one fit both standards to a tee! I tried PhotoIsland a couple times today....it won't even open for me. I guess they have my maintenance people repairing a washer for them! I made a nice lime pie (agin') and wanted to juxtapose it with blooming Phonecia. Susan, I hope we stop short of your 10 inches- TOO MUCH. It's about 2 inches and snowing VERY lightly now. My heart will go with you to Florida. |

Hey y'all,
Quick post just to say hey. Don't even have time today to read what I've missed. No need to hunt me up, but don't worry if I'm MIA tomorrow. I'll catch up with y'all hopefully over the weekend, in between getting things ready for the orchid show on the 14th. Later, |

Hi Y'all
Its a cold, blustery and rainy day here, typical March for us. Durning a little sun break, I went out to capture a few snaps of SPRING PROMISES...then beat it back into the house before the wind got into my bones! For those of you HUNGRY for a taste of PRE-spring, here's some happenings at my house. Chives popping up...(as tho we haven't enough real squirrels taking over the place, we have fake ones too... A little Columbine coming up in the base of a rose Grape Hyacinth ![]() A rosebush leafing out, with Lamb's Ears on the right ![]() Daffys Last edited by shawneesioux : 03-06-2003 at 04:09 PM. |

Gee thanks Shawnee. At least someone has spring. Everything at your place is greening up nicely. Our garlic is coming up. I had a columbine once DH kept calling it a concubine. It left.
I can hardly believe that rose bush. Looks great. Zip I hope you are onto something there with the colchicine. That would be great if it works for you. DH takes Indocin for gout but takes it regularly daily. He has not had gout for a while now. Hope you did not get a LOT of snow. Loretta |

Good Evening my Magnificient Friends,
Checking back to see what ya'all are up to! Yikes, never a dull moment on this BB from Colchicine, Columbine, to Concubines.......what a spread of subjects. Shawnee: I too, managed to get outdoors this aft around 4:30p.m for about 40 minutes, trying to get that Sunshine into the optic nerve to keep the ole mood uplifted. Oliver came with me and lasted the whole time, of course he was dressed for his walk. We got the fresh air and some exercise too! How lovely, a splash of colour for us "colour-starved Northerners!" I got the red x for the last two pics, so did not see your Rose Tree with lamb ears. Loretta: I did manage to get "under control" today. I have stayed away from Carbs, only in my veggies and lc choc bar. Feel fuller longer without those darn carbs. I will go day by day, to see if I can lose this 6lbs recently gained, before FLA in 19 days. I have been contemplating joining Curves closeby to my house I could walk up there. $50.00 Cdn a month so not bad! This may force me to get out and exercise. I will probably be in fat- burning mode (ketosis) tomorrow. I think I have had about 20 carbs today so far so pretty close to induction. Yuk, for you that young priest. DS went to his local church in FLA to see what was going on and got a similar message. He left before they ended the Mass. He hasnt been since. Zip: Do let us know if your experimenting works. As Loretta says you may be onto something. I am off to get some Mobicox 7.5mg, it is an anti-inflammatory, tomorrow from my Doc. she is fairly, well-trained, gives me what I ask for, within reason. When the ole back is acting up and other monthly aches & pains this is a good Med to have in. Oh, BTW speaking of prescription meds, they are much cheaper up here in Canada. So cross the border and bring all your scripts. I know how you like a bargin! You can pay for them by VISA too! Yikes, Latin......I only remember Benediction, Santu Mergo! sp sp,....what does your quoted latin translate? I'll check with DH what ya can do with that "chinese water torture" and your maintenance-guy phobia. This could be translated into a latin word eh? Go for it! What's that spider phobia...having a senior moment again!!!! Hi Ginny as you fly by! Waving to Tink, Shelley and Linda. Susan 125lbs hoping to get back to 119lbs soon! |

Got lots of sneaux here today so I ditched work. Screw them!! I'm not killing myself getting off this hill just to go in there.
Can you tell I'm getting burned out on it yet again? LOLRoger, thankfully that Colchicine is working for the back pain. Just take it easy. It's great to find a doctor that listens to you. My latest one does after all those years of going to one with the "Jesus Christ" complex. Then they wonder why your BP is sky high. GRRRRR! Susan, thanks for sending that *&$@%^ snow to us. Damned weather channel didn't tell us we were getting it. Surprise!! Several of our senior citizen groups have bus loads of people crossing the border every few months to take advantage of your drug prices. It's so sad for them to have to choose between food, heat or meds. Loretta, I ditched work and puttered around here all day. Even started painting the short hall way downstairs. Hopefully you caught up on your chores. Ginny, don't work too hard. How many of your babies are you taking to the orchid show? Shawnee, Oh thank you for rubbing it in. LOL The flowers and plants are so beautiful. Exactly how big is your garden? You are making me feel guilty about not having one and letting all this land go to waste. Kick me in the butt please...Pam, how are things in your area? Shelly, what's up? Did you pick up that border yet? Not much going on here except cabin fever. Off to lurk. |

Hi Y'all
Sorry I've been rather remiss about gabbing with y'all...just got busy and been dealing with people and events and such... Montana, I got my Skunk stripe dyed out, the usual do-it-yourself thing cause I'm cheap...still no cut, haven't found time to go yet...I used to cut it myself, but now the Bifocals prevent that...can't see for crap when I take them off...LOL.. How big is my garden? Well, I don't even know how many gardens I have! ..I know, its nuts, but I've never counted..as most of them are Borders, with lots of curves and horseshoe shapes....probably about enough space planted for a dozen houses ..owned by people with common sense! ![]() Glad you decided that job wasn't worth risking life and limb for!...and NO, I couldn't tell you were irritated...LOL..like hell.. ![]() Ginny, hope your Bloomers make the trip well to the Show, and do ya proud! Any leftover carrot cake? Susan, little Oliver was a real trooper to be your walking companion. When you see a RED X, this usually works: RIGHT click the X, then a drop-down box appears. Click on SHOW PICTURE..and if all's right with the world, the pic will pop on. ZIP, sooo glad your back is better. Hope you and your new Doc can strike a happy medium; its always nice if you can find one that you can actually respect their judgements... I couldn't use PhotoIsland for most of the day..went to http://future.boomspeed.com/ and set up an account. Uploaded the pics, then couldn't figure out the Auction thingy, so just clicked on Properties, and copied the URLs to get them posted here. All this LATIN...do y'all remember speaking Pig Latin as a brat? LOL and Ma Kettle...LORDY, that takes me back... ![]() Loretta... I tried that "untried" recipe for Shortcake I posted several days back...its edible, but waaaaay to sweet, and has too much liquid in the recipe...will have to revise it. We will be having some of it with CA strawberries in a little while. The longer I do LC, the more recipes are too sweet. How do you rate FL ones??? Guess our proximity to CA determines the variety we get shipped in..Hey Tink, are you still out soliciting sponsers? Hope you have tons of luck, for a good cause. Shelly, what are you up to? How about posting your fave recipes? Loretta is getting tired of mine ![]() later ShawneeLast edited by shawneesioux : 03-06-2003 at 09:32 PM. |
