Good hump-day!
![]() Susan - Not sure if if have all that much willpower, especially now that I'm out of ketosis, but I'm also still unsure of just how many carbs I should be eating. I just don't want to have to pull out my "big girl" clothes just yet! I hope your cold is going away. Cecilia - That's more or less how I'm eating too... but now I'm wondering if I should be cutting down my fat intake due to the higher carbs. I certainly don't want to go the low-fat route though. I guess I need to get busy reading Atkins for Life. Marye - Good luck with the big house project! Sounds like it'll be a wonderful home once you get it cleaned up. I love an older house with character. Mine is also a turn-of-the-century house, though a quarter of the size of yours, i.e., if we ever have a second child, we'll definitely need to move. Sarah - I'm rooting for you to carry your little one to term. Take advantage of the orders to rest while you can! ![]() Kimberly - Regarding the birthing centre, the trouble is that they're very few and far between here too. And it's illegal for a midwife to do a homebirth here, so that's why they have the centers. I learned last night at the open house (which was packed with expecting couples) that the waiting line is huge and that it's basically first come, first served. You are only given priority if you've given birth there in the past. The open house was very interesting and I LOVE their philosophy. One of their main goals at birth is to respect your privacy and intimacy. They have three cozy rooms, each with a bathroom & Jacuzzi tub. Then a common living room, kitchen and deck overlooking a golf course. They explained the prenatal visits, birth and post-natal (in-home) follow-ups. I want to go this route so bad, but I can't get my hopes up. I'm still hoping my proximity might give me an edge, but I only called 5 days ago and it sounds like I would be one of the last to do so. *sigh* Wish me luck! Sylv EDD: Nov. 2, 2003 |

Good morning All!!
Sorry I've been away so long again. It was a trying time for me and I wasn't feeling very sociable. I had some bleeding but there wasn't any indication of anything wrong. So, although it eventually stopped. I have no idea what it was that started it. But everything is fine now. I go in Friday for the glucose test. YUCK!!! I was supposed to do it last week but my ride couldn't take me at the last minute so it was rescheduled. Sometimes I really hate being a one car family. And the hubbie has to commute so of course he gets the car. I wish he had some coworkers that lived on this side of the bridge. Then maybe they could take turns car pooling. Oh well!!! We'll be leaving next year and have plans to get him a little clunker to get him to work at that point. I can't wait. You don't realize how much you'll miss something till you have to do without. LOLAnyway, other than that not much else going on. I have successfully made it to 23wks today. And I'm excited about that. It was so touch and go the first trimester and then the bleeding this trimester I was preparing myself to not have a baby when this was over with. But we're still hanging strong. The midwife says that this is one tough little boy. Well, I better go and get DD some breakfast. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you Sylv that you get a spot at the Center. The closest one to us was over a big bridge and thru a tunnel that can get backed up for over an hour. I would have hated to get on the road too late and then deliver in the car. So, we chose the route of a midwife that delivers at the hospital right around the corner from us. Again Good Luck!!!Gotta Run!! Take Care!!! Dawn

Good morning everyone. I haven't been posting much lately, but I've tried to keep up with everyone. Sarah, I echo everyone else about taking it as easy as you can to try to keep your baby girl in there as long as possible. Dawn, I'm sorry to hear you have been having some difficulties, but am glad to hear that everything seems to be going much better now. I hope your little one stays put as well.
Our little boy is doing well, I had my 22 wk appt yesterday, and everything is fine with the baby. I get my GTT next appt. I have developed carpal tunnel due to fluid retention from the pregnancy. My Dr. said to cut out salt and try wearing wrist braces at night. I hope this helps because my fingers are numb most of the time these days. My blood pressure was fine, and there was no protein in the urine, so as far as we can tell, this is just fluid retention. I gained 5 lbs in a month, that's all I've gained so far, but I still don't like it. I think most of it is fluid though. Anyway, that's my update. Hello to our new members, congrats on your pregnancies.

Hi all! Hope everyone is having a good hump day so far. I didn't sleep well last night because of the SEVERE congestion, so I'm kinda tired today.
Sylv ~ That birthing center sounds great! I hope you get in. You might get lucky. You never know. Cecilia ~ When I first got pregnant, my sister (who has read all of the Atkins books cover-to-cover) told me to try and lower the fat some because of the increase in carbs. It makes sense to me. I think it's the high carb and high fat together that puts the weight on. I didn't try this, because I went nutty and ate everything in sight at first. Dawn ~ Glad to see you are doing okay. Dark Siren ~ Glad you are okay, too. I can't remember if you said if this is your first pregnancy or not. If it is, then as long as you like orange flavor, the glucose test is not bad. I may be weird though. I thought the stuff tasted good. I do have a weakness for sweet stuff though. That and the fact that it had been about 9 hours since I had anything to drink and I was extremely thirsty. But, if you have been through this before and you think it's gross, then ignore the above. Does that make sense? (Preggo brain has been very bad lately). We went to our first "preparation for childbirth" class last night. We will go every Tuesday evening for six weeks. I really enjoyed it. The guys got to put on those "sympathy pregnancy suits" (I don't know what you call them). It was hilarious! We also have a breastfeeding class on Thursday night. I know that taking all of these classes may seem silly to some, especially the experienced moms, but I just feel like I can never know too much about certain things. A co-worker told me it was silly to take these classes, and that I read too much, but I think that when it comes to my health and my baby's health, I can never know too much. Well, I've rambled enough. Sorry for the length. It's just that sometimes I can't check in everyday, so I have to get it all out while I can! Hi to those who follow. Susan

Hey all: Hope everyone is well today.
Baby has been very active the last couple of days. We had the 3D u/s done over the weekend and it was great. I wish I knew how to post pictures but I am not that savey with the computer. Looks like I will be having a shower this weekend at the inlaws. My mom will try to come for it as well if the weather is nice. Not much else going on. My stepmom and half sister are going to be flying out for the easter weekend. They hope I deliver while they are here, it would be nice, but I doubt that I will be early. |

Hi all,
I have my first OB appt. in about 30 min. It will be doing the blood work and pelvic and all that good stuff. I am hopiong to talk my dr. into u/s's every 2 weeks since I am older and high risk. I saw the heart beat a week ago when I was 6 weeks along. I sure hope I can talk him into more frequent viewings until we can hear it! I will find out this afternoon if I have gained much in the last 2 weeks since I started adding carbs back in. It's nice to see that there are quite a few of us on here together! Sylv, That birthing center sounds great! I sure hope you can get a spot with them! Good luck! DArk Siren, Good luck with your glucose test...let us know how you do! Dawn, I am so sorry you have carpal tunnel I have heard it can be really painful! Good luck with your GTT too! Susan, I think it's great that you are taking so may classes....I know I am going to take as many as I can! Ldybug, How cool about the 3D ultra sound! I wish you could post us a picture too! Have fun at your shower! Jeanie, You are getting close huh? I am sorry your heartburn is so severe! Just think...once that baby is born you can have atkins muffins again! And some fruit! Hang in there! Talk to you all later.... Cecilia edd 10.23.03
