SHROVE TUESDAY
I wish I were in Rio today (or even New Orleans), doing the samba in a pair of speedos and covered in glitter.
Maybe I'll Samba through the MALL instead; look for me on the Evening News. Temp went up 20 degrees so far from the 9° when I went to bed. Poor Phonecia is doing her best to look good in spite of about 4 blasted buds...I KNEW she was trying too hard...she needs a long rest. SO working all week and I am at sixes and sevens for something "fun" to do, especially since today will be a "balmy" 39. Friday, a big CD comes to maturity (I had been getting 6.75% interest) and I'm SICK over the prospect of 1%...maybe it will go into some "hot" stock...OWWWW! Have fun...remember the samba beat is one-two, one-two, one-two! (really has to be the easiest dance step.)

Good day to you all.
You are too funny, Zip2Play ~ speedos & the samba . Dealing w/ such cold temps has to be a challenge. Will try to get the laundry done today. Did the usual hunt through my daughter's room ~ she's 12 ~ and found things that had been MIA. I'm tempted to do some rearranging this week in her room but gotta find some place to put the stuff I remove. Hopefully, I won't do too much damage. She's been asking for a border on her walls but what do you get for a pre-teen that doesn't look too childish? Another challenge!Enjoy the day everyone. ~ Shelly ~ |

Good Morning this Shrove Tuesday/ Mardi Gras!
Time to ditch those sugar Carbs! and get dancin! LOL! Busy day yesterday with the Group. In this group I have 6 smoke free now! only 3 more weeks and they are on their own. I gave them several follow up resources to bridge the gap. My next group starts up April 17th, so enough time inbetween to slip down to FLA for some much needed warmth and Sunshine! The other group is a mixed gang, about 90% smoke free now. There are 11 regular attendees to this one which is on Wednesdays. A tad behind with the paperwork, so will be completing this today. Zip: I know this deep freeze is crazy! It was -27 celsius yesterday morning and it warmed up to -19 by the afternoon, oh Joy, oh Joy! Poor Guys, to have someones opinion dash their work! Sounds like you did get some more bargins. I wish we had a Shoprite, not sure if they have one in FLA. I am out of sf syrup! I can get it at our Wally world but it is not the greatest and it is expensive for a small bottle, nice on apples, per Loretta's tip. Tink: Wow, loved the pics! How wonderful to participate for all of you. Gorgeous looking girls in your family. Good job you are a hairdresser, a handy profession to have for this kind of event. BTW, I remember you consoling me on my short haircut before Christmas, it did grow back, and she has trimmed it again. I am thinking of changing hairdressers. It is so expensive up here. I paid $160.00 2 weeks ago, my colour, cut and highlites. Shawnee: Mouth watering recipes! Thank YOU so much for sharing with us. I have them all copied. I just have to get the Suzy Homemaker bug, to shop for the ingredients, then the time to make them. Great pics too! Hope the rain stops soon for you. But the positives of the rain are the flowers, the green grass and the humidity for the lungs and skin! I was told this over and over growing up in England! The pics of your garden is just breath taking for us up here. Like Zip said, seems like 20 years ago..... Glad our frigid weather gives you solace. Hope the pup can get out for walkies today! Linda: Yikes, sounds like Gerard is right up there with the surgeons! "He nicked a vessel" LOL! Glad to hear it was only slight damage. Hope he is not lying on those cold concrete floors still. Enough of this deep freeze eh? When will you find out if you contract is renewed? Can you apply elsewhere? Hope you enjoyed the haircut yesterday and that you like it today. Shelly: Do share your uplifting message. I could use that up here! Yep, as Linda says, do ya teach? enquiring minds...... Glad to see you have joined us. What ya gonna get cooking on those back burners??? Loretta: Keep perfecting the cakes for us! Good to know the FLA strawberries are better than CA, will sample some soon. Glad you have SUNSHINE finally. It is certainly natures gift! Ginny: Is your exhaust fan in the GH solar powered??? LOL! Sounds wonderful, the pre-GH days, all that anticipation of the wonderfu summer to come! Took me Soooo long to type this I had to copy and paste to follow Zips thread. I had started the thread again early as another busy day today. Susan 125lbs. |

Mornin' y'all,
Two days of sunshine in a row! Wow, we haven't seen this in a while! Just for meanness, I'll tell you the temp is supposed to get to 65 today (ducks to dodge flying objects). Zip, good deals at the store yesterday! It sure is good to come across stuff like that and be able to stock up ![]() Shawnee, Pup looks happy surrounded by the flowers--easy to tell she enjoys summer days in the garden with Momma! But I think she enjoys ANYWHERE with Momma.... You sure are keeping that kitchen busy! I'd like a taste test please. Loretta, I know you have to be enjoying our wonderful sunshine. Have you gotten a nice long walk in? Maybe today I'll be able to throw open some windows and air the house out a bit....is it nice enough for you to do that too? Linda, sounds like time for Gerard to just take the truck to the surgeon and be done with it. Way too cold for him to be working on it, but I know how men are, DH does 95% of all vehicle repairs/maintenance too. I do draw the line on helping pull motors anymore though! Pam, glad you had such a great time with the family. You really have a great looking bunch! Those girls are gorgeous! I've heard pagaents are frightfully expensive, good luck with sponsorships! Susan, it's got to be a gratifying feeling to see your groups do so well. Being part coach, part teacher and part psychologist must be draining at times, but the rewards are definitely there for helping them! Shelly, looks like we'll be as warm as y'all soon! I'm sure looking forward to the spring. Do you do much gardening? Well, off to lurk for a bit...enjoy the day!

More sunshine today but a few clouds thrown in there too.I saw some crocus blooming nicely in a neighbors yard on my walk. Spring is coming. Gee Zip sorry about that back of yours. Just leave the socks off from now on until the servants get back. That Samba will have to wait. Good thing you were not about to do the Twist.Tink those DGB look wonderful. I know you are sure one proud granny. I'm glad that Shawnee got the picture posted for you. I was curious to see your family. Glad you all had a great time and they got prizes to boot. As you say it was a great ego booster. They will be excited getting ready for the next pagent as well. Lots of great memories in the making. Ginny I'm glad we are sharing the sunshine. Isn't it just grand. Linda has the car gone to the hospital or did Gerard's friend make a house call. I know you will be happy to have that truck in service again. I would really miss my Honda if she was laid up. Hope your weather is improving some. Shelly sounds like you will be busy on your vacation catching up on domestic maintainence. I am going to try to declutter my life and start getting rid of "things" I haven't used for a while. Going to start using the good stuff instead of saving it. Shawnee thanks for the picture of summer with pup. How refreshing. Glad that your DGB has returned and is there ready and willing to sample those baked delicacies.(sp) I have plenty of sampleing to do here for now. Hope the rain lets up for a while so you and pup can get back to the yard work. Susan you sure are back to your perky self. You sure do stay busy for the most part. I'm glad that you enjoy your seminars. I always like nursing and was happy to have chosen that for my profession. But I like being retired a lot more. You need to get that "you talk, it types for you" gizmo. Have taken DH to the lake to fish, first time this year. Will be picking him up soon. Hope he brings some home today. We need them for Lent. Later Edited to add: NO fish today, not even a nibble. Last edited by Loretta V : 03-04-2003 at 05:36 PM. |

Holy cow Roger, I'm sorry you hurt your back again. Do ya think it may be time to see that surgeon and get it over with while you still have health ins.?
<shudder> 1% on a CD Just use care when you pick some stocks. Hopefully this damn Bear market will end soon although when Bombs over Baghdad start, things may get worse.Loretta, Hope your dh gets some great fish. How do you cook them? I love trout fried in butter over a camp fire. No the truck is still sick. He is going to repair the fuel line and either call that guy or have it towed to the repair place. Grrrrrr! What the hell, it's only been 3 weeks. Ginny, did I hit you with the shoe I threw at ya? 65? <sobbing>Enjoy that sunshine and warmth. MEN!! They sure love to do most repairs themselves don't they? Oh well, it does save a ton of money. He would have had it done if the weather co operated. Shelly, Oh my goodness, picking something for a 12 yr old is going to give you grey hair. Why don't you take her with you to help pick something that you both can live with. Good luck cleaning out her room, gosh I remember those days well. Ugh! Enjoy that nice weather. Susan, You must be very proud of yourself for helping those people. It has to be rewarding. My contract is approved through 3/31 but the facility and state are so broke that I don't know if they will renew it yet. I do know they are trying. Not that I really care, I love being retired. No, I wouldn't look for something else. Pam, your GDS are beautiful! LOL the little one didn't look like she cared a bit about all the fuss. Did you get more snow? I see western Montana is in for a big one. Hope it doesn't get to your area. Shawnee, How's the cabinet project coming along? I bet dh has taken over the entire kitchen. Can you still get to your baking with him in there? Thanks for the picture of pup and your beautiful garden. Hey, do you want to spend some time here working your magic on this dull yard? Work went just fine but I'm really looking forward to not going in there. I'm getting too old to deal with those people. We shall see. Off to lurk so catch you later. Linda |

Awwww! Zip, I know those BACK things. I have a herniated disc that slips either way when it feels I have done something too much. Do you have any inflammatory meds? DH used to take VIOXX till it raised his BP. He now takes mobicox a new one that does nt have the same side effects as the other one. I usually try to suck the disc back into place with the biomechanics of physical therapy. I lie on my stomach and try to gently push up...it works for me.....BUT dont try this as yours could be entirely different.
Linda, Loretta Glad you both enjoy being retired. I guess I will when the time comes. 6 years to 60 yet, so gotta keep goin for awhile yet! Loretta: Yep, I need to get me one of those talk and type things. Ginny Flying ducks! Yikes, not Peking ducks are they, watch out for Zip. He likes to cook duck! LOL! Your weather sounds wonderful. Shawnee: Yikes, another talented hairstylist, that bakes and sews! Catch YOU All tomorrow. I have the other group tomorrow. Susan 125lbs |
