Funny story.
Woke up Tuesday morning at 203. Admittedly, I drank a few beers that night and didn't stick to low carb. So I said, I'm gonna go low carb for a couple of days.
Wednesday, woke up at 201.6.
Thursday, woke up at 198.8 and decided to have some Singapore Noodles.

Truthfully, I have been doing it this way since late March and it works for me. When the weight is a bit high, I stick to low carb for a day or two. When it falls back, I eat what I want.

Again, I'm not saying this is for everyone, everyone's metabolism is different. Like I've written earlier in this thread, women seem to have a harder time losing weight and maintaining. Not sure why, but again, "My maintenance plan" is my plan. It may or may not work for everyone.

I have been maintaining for 3 years now. I do what you do, Dave. But I only weigh-in on Friday. I always have 1-4 days of very strict eating, depending on the need. It seems to work for me because I can eat really yummy things and have my wine. I don't however eat desserts. By yummy I mean more carbs, wine, and popcorn, maybe some pasta.

I find my daily weigh-ins very motivational ... and they give me a guideline on what to eat on a particular day.
Two things I have dropped from my diet (for the most part) are bread and potato chips. I used to be a potato chip addict, I rarely eat them now. My late night snack go-tos are peanuts and - oddly enough - hard-boiled eggs.
I keep a loaf of brown bread in the freezer and occasionally have grilled cheese or a BLT on toast, but I avoid bread for the most part.

I rarely, if ever, eat anything with sugar. I was never a sugar addict to begin with, but I am very strict about it now. The last thing I ate with sugar with a soft serve ice cream cone from McDonald's (it was a hot day and I had the urge ).

I pretty much have lost most of my weight doing a fairly similar plan. I "cheat" often but do not recognize it as such bc I consider it part of my plan! My plan was never to give up things all together and to primarily get healthy. I believe in moderation and I can TELL when I've had something unheatlhy now. I like that feeling.

But I usually do 50 carbs/day with 1 day a week being higher like 100. With those levels I can usually fit in something like a small bowl of popcorn or a beer.

I don't have any health issues and I think my metabolism is okay (as far as I know)...so that might be why it works. I'm considering JUDDD in the future as a way to keep appetite down. We'll see.

Looks good and keep us posted!

Today was my lowest weight since Jan. 1 at 196.4.
I was up to 202.8 on Friday, so I dedicated myself to low carbing for the past four days. Apparently, it worked.
Gonna need to put a cheat day or two in to get back to 200.

I pretty much follow this plan. Glad to see it works for others. I do have a sweet tooth and often crave sugar. I don't eat bread and usually only eat the Dreamfields pasta. I weigh about 3 days a week and that helps keep me on track. Also, I try not to eat anything later than 8 p.m.

Weighed 199.6 Wednesday. The plan continues to work for me. A co-worker blasts me and says I'm too maniacal, but it has been working and he continues to be short for his weight.

198.6 today.

Yeah Big Al, not drinking on NFL Sunday is not an option. I got a two-pizza deal from Papa John's and stuck the other pizza in my freezer for this Sunday.
For the life of me, I have no clue how long I have to cook it. I am going with the frozen pizza standard of 350 and 16 minutes and hope like heck that works.

Glad to hear this is still working for you. I am 6.6 pounds away from goal and think I can make this WOE work for me once I'm at goal also. Also considering adding some whole grains to my diet. Maybe some whole grain bread. We will see what happens!

KUTGW, Dave!

Dave,

I hit goal this morning, so I'm ready to start this maintenance plan! Here we go!

I just started back and the gym this morning after not going for a few months. It sure felt great to get back into it!

Weigh yourself at the same time every day.
It really works.

Let the scale decide how you eat every day.
197.6 today, so I am enjoying a few beers.

The lowest weight I hit during this was 194.4, which was frankly astonishing. It was a few weeks ago. At 6-3.5, that's a tad lower than I like. For the most part, I've kept my weight below 200 lbs. for about six weeks or so. It allows me to pretty much eat whatever I want ... though I tend to low-carb four days a week anyway.

I really need to start changing my mentality for this to work! I used to weigh myself every day and the last 10 lbs I stopped. Now, I need to be back on it! I'm "afraid" of carbs still, so I just need to remind myself that some carbs are necessary to maintain!

I will be weighing every day and eating accordingly for that day.

What a great thread Dave. This has worked so well for you, well done.

I have just this week started to use JUDDD, and it is interesting to watch the effect of the Low cal/High cal days. I am doing it pretty much LC though.

I love your thread, Dave. I know that I want to make LC a WOE for life, but how low carb do you really have to go? When I get a bit closer to goal, I think I'll give your way a try to see if it works for me.

Again, remember folks, everyone's metabolism and lives are different. What works for me may not necessarily work for you.
Like I've written here in the past, I tend to think women - for whatever reason - seem to have a harder time losing weight.
The system I use may work for you, it may not. Don't get discouraged if it doesn't, just find what works for you.

197.6 today.

On non-cheat days, I never go over 50 carbs a day. And all those carbs are good South Beach Diet carbs.
Look up glycemic level diet. It's a start.
I am part Atkins, part South Beach, part Paleo.
On a cheat day, I don't care if the carb is any of those, but on a non-cheat day if I eat a carb, it has to be a good carb.

All-carbs. Most of the carbs I eat on non-cheat days are good carbs anyway.

Dave, on your cheat days, what kinds of carbs do you allow? Just beer? Some sugar? Fruit?

Pretty much anything.

If I have an itch, I scratch it.

To be completely honest, I even eat fruit on non-cheat days. Not pineapple or super high sugar fruits, but fruit like apples, pears, etc... I have no problem with.
I don't eat empty calorie fruit like watermelon.

But again, cheat days are only allowed if I hit my target weight for a day. If I don't, I don't cheat.

As far as beer goes, I don't go nuts on it ever. I have beer on cheat days, but just have a few, then move on to whiskey and Diet Coke or Coke Zero.

The days of getting drunk on just beer are over. Beer and potato chips are the enemy where weight gain is concerned. Both have to be had in moderation, even on cheat days.

Even before this lifestyle, sugar was never an issue. I am not a big sugar guy. My biggest weaknesses were beer, potato chips and breaded meat like chicken and fish. I never eat breaded meat now.

196.8 on Monday. So far, so good.

I ate some jellybeans on Friday and got an incredible sugar rush. I never, ever eat refined white sugar ... but just felt like some jellybeans. They hit me like a heavyweight champ. The sugar rush was unreal.

Only sugar I eat these days is natural sugar in fruit ... and only low sugar fruits.

That said, the jellybeans were damned tasty and I ate about 15 or so.

Weighed myself Jan. 1.
198.0 lbs.
Couldn't believe it. I actually lost 2 lbs. over the holidays and I wasn't exactly disciplined.
This day last year I was 253.0 lbs.

Grats!

Wish I could say the same. I gained 5 pounds and not entirely sure how I gained so much as it happened in one day (Christmas). Thought it might be a fluke but the scales still showed the weight.

So needless to stay, I now have my New Year's resolution picked for me

But I am also going to start measuring myself. I have been hitting the exercise routine pretty hard over the holidays and my chest and arms feel bigger (waist seems the same). So part of me wonders if that might be the issue. But that wouldn't explain the sudden jump either.

Oh well ... now that the holidays are over, it will be easy to get back into weight loss mode. Plus I think I will see if I can reach another vanity weight goal of 165 just for giggles
