1st OF MARCH! In like a Lamb!

Rise and Shine Maintainers,

It is sunny and mild up here today. Going up to a high of 0 Celsius that is 32F, an easy converstion. We will have a couple of days of these mild temps then back to the deep freeze, but Spring is on its way!

Later,

Well rise and no shine. NO sun for several more days. But it is warmer, 50s and not wet. I got out for my walk and really enjoyed being out there. The scale was not friendly today and probably because I have missed a lot of walking and now have almond crusts under most things I am eating. UP 2 pounds. I have not eaten much of the Muffins. It is probably a combination of all. Chubs are small herring type fish that are smoked. It is the entire fish (it is small about 8 inches long). He has to peel off the skin and eat the meat from the bones. Smellllllllll

Hi to Susan and Zip our early birds. Plus I had a lot of catch up from last night to read.

Zip I sure hope that March is out like a lamb and not like a lion. That hardy weather is just too much. Enjoy your play RADIANT BABY today.

Susan that toothbrush only runs for 2 min.max. Or you could just quit before the time is up. I think it does an excellent job.
I will get to resetting my clock too. This is way off as it is now.
When do you go to Fla?

Linda enjoy that parade and special food treats today. Great that your DGB will be in the parade. Hope it is not too cold out there for you. Thanks for the tips on the cauliflower. I was reading some post where a gal uses Hidden Valley Ranch seasoning from the dry pack, 1/2 of a package. I just happen to have mix with some cream cheese for something else I was going to make and will use it in them. LOL about shopping for your undies in the kids section.

Ginny enjoy that show this weekend. I just bought some new Kacki pants and a pretty blue top, not any thing real fancy, just replacing some of the too big items.

Shawnee, your talk about billpaying has me interested. I have just started to use the automatic withdrawal method. The other day we were taking to the Bank officer and he said that checks are too easy to alter and can easlily get in the wrong hands and be erased. He just uses his debit card for most other purchases and keeps it is a special cover that protects that metal strip. He has a seminar on Identiy Theft and we will probably go to one of them soon.

Boy Tink you are mutli talanted. What a great Grandma and MIL to have. Hope the DGB have great time at the pagent.
Enjoy your weekend.

Enjoy your Saturdays all.

Good Day Loretta, Zip and all of YOU that follow,

Loretta: We leave for FLA March 25th returning April 15th, to escape more weeks of this deep freeze. Sorry you are not having any Sunshine right now!
I know the toothbrush runs for 2mins but I am a heavy brusher, hence the gum recession, so I usually end up running it another 2 mins. I must use it more often as it is much gentler for the ole gums. It really does make a difference. You will be glad you bought it. I use it with the ole Sensodyne! Thanks for the explanation about those Smoked Chubs, I thought they were fish of some sort. I think there is Omega-3 in Herring, so good for your DH.

ZIP: Enjoy the Show and Vindaloo, yikes, way too hot for me! I love curry but milder, so I can taste the others spices. How many carbs in a pampadon? nan? rice? I guess no samosas to start? Yikes, didnt realise how many pitfalls with the Indian Cuisine! LOL!

Linda: What a treat, those Pipe Bands. You will certainly have your fill of Celtic. DH's GF was from Waterford, Ireland, you know where the crystal comes from. DH is our token Irish Catholic but we forgive him! He is no Frank McCourt but we both thoroughly enjoyed "Tis."
My parents put me in an all girls/ladies scottish pipe band. I practiced the chanter, marched and we even did highland dancing......talk about a mis-spent youth! Yep, I had my own pipes. I sold them when we emmigrated to Canada. I enjoy hearing the music and the bands do give me the ole goose bumps. Enjoy your Treat! LOL! about those prints on the undies!
Hope they dont come in tarten!

For those asking about, "My Big Fat Greek Wedding".....it was funny in many places and got belly laughs from both of us, not our usual type of movie, so good for a change. Highly recommend "Bloodwork" with Clint Eastwood and K-19 with Harrison Ford, also The Count of Monte Cristo! Two Thumbs up!
The Bourne Identity, was excellent too!

I read an interesting expression the other day! "The secret of staying young is reinventing yourself with each new decade of your life," says a Prof Laurs Barnabel, head of the graduate program in school of psychology at Brooklyn College. Gotta get me thinking cap on to see what I want to be for this decade???

Waving to Shawnee, Ginny, Tink, Shelley and lurkers,

Susan 125lbs

Good evening everyone,

Susan, Thanks for the movie reviews, maybe in a few weeks when I'm back in retirement, I'll rent some and just lie around for a week watching them.

Humm, I'm coming up on a new decade in a few months and will need to borrow your thinking cap.

LOL Tarten would be an improvement over the kids prints that they come in. I couldn't even find plain white. Hopefully I won't be in an auto accident. Ah well at least they are clean, right?

LOL My mother's dad was born in County Cork and came to the USA when he was just a small boy. Unfortunately he lost the brogue. Gerard played the pipes for a few years but they just sit in the closet now. I sure wish he would play them again. I LOVE them. Here's a site with hundreds of pipe tunes.
http://bagpipesatbest.com/

Zip, enjoy the play and Lamb Vindaloo. Hot foods are wonderful and I especially love curry but just not toooo hot. Anxiously awaiting your review on both

Loretta, Gosh it's great that the temps are creeping up in your neck of the woods. It was only about 34 here and it snowed a little.

Putting on a few lbs is something I need to do. LOL never thought I would say that, but both my GYN and family doc said I'm about 5 lbs below my ideal wt and told me NOT to lose anymore. Sheesh! Ya just can't make them happy.

Automatic bill paying is something that scares me a bit, and we don't even have a debit card. Some of those have hidden charges from what I understand.. I pay my bills by check, take them directly to the post office, and never put them in the mailbox at home for pick up. We can also pay them at several of our local grocery stores. Watch the strips on the cards though, I demagnatized one on my ATM card when I was away once. Not a fun thing to do.

Shawnee, are you baking and cooking today or trying to avoid the construction zone? Gee you have a wonderful and valid excuse to eat out till the project is done.

Pam, enjoy the weekend with your family.

Shelly Where are ya kiddo?

Parade was nice but we froze our butts off. Fortunately we were standing in front of the Library and I ran in there every so often to warm up... 2 of the grand daughters marched as well as my brother and both of my sons.Post party was nice but far too loud. Not the pipers but the DJ's music. Hell, my ears are still ringing.

Off to lurk.

Vindaloo was very nice (but not quite flaming enough...I like it so hot it stops my beard growing for 2 days)....WITH meat samosas, nan, rice, papadum....no coconut pudding though, I'm low carb...LOL! Bob had shrimp curry.

Show was SPECTACULAR, it will be a HUGE hit and I hope we can get the review out tomorrow to get into Friday's edition. I predict it will move to Broadway and run a long time....I literally cried at the quality of the performances, and this in a MUSICAL yet....hasn't been a combination of biography and music this strong since EVITA.
For anybody not familiar with Keith Haring, here's a site:http://www.haring.com/

And we got 2 reviews in this weekend's issue:
http://www.gaycitynews.com/gcn209/sl...raightmen.html

and http://www.gaycitynews.com/gcn209/ve...rnsqueens.html
Read them if you have trouble sleeping.

Weather is a bit warmer...over freezing at least, but very damp and windy. NYC lucked out on the last one-two punch, snow went just to our South and rain just to the North.

In tomorrow finally expecting rain and writing the review...gosh I wish I had money in the show, though you REALLY have to be lucky to get anything back. Nice mixed cheese omelettes for breakfast...NO NAN!

Oh yeah, Phonecia is just beginning to flower. I almost bought a second, but I didn't want to priss off the lady of the moment...and have her drop all her buds in spite. I'll show some snaps as the flowers open. I really think she's sending out MORE side branches.

Watching DAGON on Sci-Fi...marginal film about killer mermaids....really (ROFL).

Night all.

Hi Y'all

WOW, the things I learn about people on this Board! We might be the OLD People..(with our Goddess exception) ...but we sure bring a wealth of varied experiences to the ol' Posting Grounds.

Wonderful day here from Noon on...sunny and 55°...just right for a little window cleaning, sprucing up a couple flower beds, and a Pup pedicure. A few King Alfred Daffys are in bloom. Rain is returning soon, but that's ok...I wanna have water to drink this Summer.

Susan, your childhood was a non-stop whirlwind of activity; you could write a book.

ZIP, how was the Radiant Baby and Vindaloo? Have never seen or tasted either

LOL, Loretta...here we have two kinds of Chubs. The 9" one is a small mini-roll of Summer Sausage or Salami . The other is an actual fish, over a ft. long...AKA Squaw Fish...considered a Scavanger, and fisherman are actually paid a Bounty on them to catch and turn them in. Notorious for eating our dwindling supply of Salmon roe in the spawning grounds..

The whole Financial / Identity Theft thingy scares the hell out of me! Several years back, I started using a Permanent ink pen to write checks; can't be laundered out. I mail off my bills at the PO. I have a debit card, but have not used it. Each time I use a Credit card, I am required to blindly trust each person who has access to its number...from the store to the bank to the card company employees themselves...

Jeez, I could get paranoid. I do not have any bills paid with automatic withdrawals, as I don't want any company to have access to my banking funds...yeah, I guess I am paranoid. I've been to both our banks and asked if they shred their refuse papers (they do) and had Passwords required on all transactions.

Having seen several lives and Credit records screwed up by THE BAD A$$ES, I won't be a willing victim. I also shred all my mail that has personal info on it. Sadly, very little is required for a Crook to steal your idenity...a SS number, a credit card number, or Driver's Lic number will put him in business...or he can send off for a duplicate of YOUR Birth Certificate, using very little of your infomation to obtain one.. The crooks here steal mail, dig in dumpsters,( especially the ones behind banks and doc's offices, tons of info just pitched into them)....and several DMV offices have been broken into..they stole the computers containing info on thousands of individuals. OK, I have completely depressed myself on that subject Don't be paranoid like me, but be aware!

Montana, SAVOR those words: Put on a few pounds!

Be back later.

Hey gang,

Here at last! We had a really nice day at the Home and Garden show. It was a CRUSH of people, but we made it through alive. Brought home a few new babies (imagine that) for the gh too.

Linda, did you get the Barbie, Scooby Doo or Wonder Woman undies? LOL! I reckon if your butt is too small for the 'big girl' underwear, you may need to put on a couple of those pounds! You go girl!

Shawnee, I know all about construction zones, believe me, and you have my sympathy! Glad you got everything out of danger, now if the project moves on and Murphy stays out we will rejoice with you! How did Pup like the pedicure? Our girls never need that done, but the big boy does--he isn't thrilled, but lets us do it. After all, there is food involved when he's done....

Loretta, we've had about 123 minutes of SUNSHINE since the 14th. I'm looking forward to a little more of the bright stuff, but that's spring in the south, reckon? At least it's warmer...

Zip, glad you got to enjoy a show. It's been a while since you went to a really good one, hasn't it? Yanno, if you bring home another phal to keep Phonecia company, she won't get mad at you. It will just give her something to show off to! And, there are different ones that have different bloom seasons, so you can enjoy the beauty year-round if you have enough different ones

Susan, you sure are sounding happy now! Good for you on the extra bit of walking, even if Oliver had had enough. Those little bitty legs of his really gotta motor to keep up with us humans, so just imagine how much he felt he walked LOL!

Pam, I bet you're enjoying the family. We'll excuse you until tomorrow night from posting if you like. Just have fun, and don't get too wore out!

Shelly, come on, please come home, we miss you!

Hi to fav lurker...

Y'all have a good night! Wallyworld and it's grocery section beckons me tomorrow. Anyone wanna take my place?

Hey Shawnee, I'm with ya on the Financial / Identity Theft thingy. God it scars the sh*t out of me. I call my credit card co. customer help line every few days to check on any charges that should not be there. Gawd isn't technology great?

If you have time, I have some windows that need a good cleaning. They don't look too bad until the sun decides to come out.

Ginny, Glad you had a good time at the home show and got some new babies for the GH.
I'll pass on the Wally World. I love retail therapy but HATE to unload and put away those darn groceries.

No Barbie, but these things have stars, flowers and such.

Night everyone.

Hello everyone. It's been a quiet but busy weekend thus far. Yesterday, was choir rehearsal and a hair appointment. Sometimes I'm tempted to just cut my hair really short but I've got to work up my nerve.

You all have such lively personalities. I enjoy reading your posts.

Thanks for the info about the movies, Susan. I've heard so much about MBFGW and will put it on my 'to rent' list along with Bloodwork. I agree that Bourne Identity was pretty good. A couple of weeks ago, I saw Jungle Book for the first time ~ checked it out from the library because of JB 2 coming to theaters and both were adorable. Definitely children's movies but cute. ~ Florida, a nice escape from the 'chill'. Enjoy.

The weather is about the same here, Loretta. If the adage is true about 'in like a lamb', I'll keep the turtlenecks out for while longer. Hopefully a little exercise will melt those pounds quickly. I find that I vascillate between .5 to 1.5 lbs depending on what I eat and the amount of exercise I do daily. Twice this week, the scale read 137.5 and then twice 138.5.

A garden show would be so nice to attend, Orchid. I have to drive at least 45 min to an hour to go to one. But, it'd be worth it if I could find something unique and some bargains.

Shawnee, hope I'm right in assuming that King Alfred Daffys are daffodils. Just really getting into gardening and am not familiar w/ names of flowers quite yet. Daffodils are our town flower. They are springing up everywhere and are the 'center' of attention at our annual Daffodil Festival.

Zip2Play, sounds like you are really impressed by the show. That's one of the advantages of living in NY ~ you get to see a lot of good 'broadway bound' shows.

Hadn't thought of calling the credit card company to check on charge, LoveMontana. With all the swiping I do, it would be prudent! It has become almost too convenient to just use debit/credit when purchasing.

We've got Sunday service this morning and then we'll likely have dinner out ~ or at least I hope so. Enjoy the day everyone.
