FRIDAY, February 28

Well good morning. NO SNEAUX, weatherman got us all riled up for nothing. So the old 1929 February record holds her ground! Snow and rain passed under us and out to sea and we see nothing, see! (Doing Edward G. Robinson...I'm punchy and only half awake)

I noticed in rereading yesterday's posts that all of you were posting in the middle of the morning....but since I read them all in the evening, something was wrong. I THINK they've FINALLY set the clock right on the boards so I reset my location (in PROFILE OPTIONS) for Eastern Time instead of GMY (Greenwich Mean) I think it is ok now. I'll know after this post.
edit: Hoo-Hah (Al Pacino, SCENT OF A WOMAN)...the time change WORKS...my 9:08AM edit looks about right(changed it 6 times...ROFL)

Cabinet doors on and cans going in....it's nicer than I thought. I might get it a "mate" to sit atop and use the upper space...it's Mill's Pride stuff (www.millspride.com)- well made of it's type. If the bug bites they will be EVERYWHERE.

All your recipes have me inspired to TAKE A WALK ON THE LIME SIDE again...see I couldn't make that reference if the board was(were?) all kids.

My Friday routine is disrupted since my 8PM-Midnight treasure of Britcoms is repaced one of those monthlong PLEDGE drives again....Jesus, how often can they do those 4 hour flyovers of Greece, Italy, Sicily and even Long Island....and somebody should put a stake through the hearts of THE THREE GREEDY TENORS and burn YANNI at the stake (AT THE ACROPOLIS). The stations DO get a most of their money from huge foundations and the US taxpayer after all, let them provide programming instead of monthlong "advertisements." At least I have 2 goodies on Sci-Fi channel.
(As you can tell ZIP is VERY much a child of the TV age- I'd DIE without it)

It's getting official; TARGET Stores has gone to the City Council for some variances to our FOODMART site...I have VERY mixed feelings- TARGET is nice, but WHERE whould I buy jicama, and jersualem artichokes, and $.69/lb tofu and fresh fish (swimming in tanks)...and my $.19/lb. chicken legs...oh Jesus and the 14 brands of cocounut milk (I can choose from Hispanic, Indian, Indonesian, Japanese, or Chinese .)

More later, but I thought I'd break the ice.

reedit: from some other boards a posting that must be SEEN to be believed entitled I CAN'T AGE:
Quote:
I know this may sound strange but my problem is that I'm 28 yrs old and look like I'm 17. I'm married and have 2 kids.I look and sound 17 as well...don't have a deep voice. I seen ppl I use to go to High school with and just avoid them cause I'm emberassed. They all look different, I mean they look their age so much more mature. I'm still waiting for the day when I wake up and actually start looking older. This might seem like a minor issue to most of you but this tears me up inside. I feel I get less respect because i look so young. I know some of you are saying I would love to look young but I would rather be 40 and look 28 then be 28 and look 17.
Is there a medical term for this? Could it be caused by low testosterone levels or something? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You can IMAGINE some of the answers (including mine)...LOL
re-re-re-edit:
OK, here's my reply:
Quote:
Don't worry, Like Dorrian Gray's portrait, age will sneak up on you and overtake you with the speed and fury of a runaway locomotive. You will think back many times to your "malady" and say, "If only I could have it back. It will be too late, though!"
I think the precise medical term is "frellin' good-luckitis."

Testosterone check is unnecessary, ask your parents if either of them suffered the same tragic fate (tongue planted firmly in cheek!)

Think often of the Jacque Brel lyric:

"If I could be for only an hour,
If I could be for an hour, every day;
If I could be for just one little hour
CUTE CUTE CUTE in a stupid-assed way"
Sorry for the interminable length.

Nice weekend all!

Good Morning Folks,

Wow, Zip you have been up and at it early. Believe it or not! I had a similar "fate" to the writer of the venting post. When we first came to Canada, I was 27, will long hair past my shoulders, (throw back to the sixties), I did not wear make up and had a niavety about me...... but it was new immigrant, through different eyes stuff. I was a married women with two children and people did not immediately think this. I did feel some of the similar loss of respect as if I was just a teenager and therefore, not as important, especially at Gov't offices where we had to get all our paperwork in order. Believe me, "the writer of that post" will catch up. I did!

LOVE you new "little sign off character" What happened to the flying butterfly. I tried several times to cut and paste your butterfly.....but always it would not fly for me, just a stationary butterfly.

Off to the dentist today for the 6-month cleaning with the hygenist and dentist "quick" checkup! Nothing as exciting as Linda's appointment yesterday. I'll probably do some retail therapy or at least "window shopping" afterwards as my reward for being a good girl in the dentists chair!

Later guys,

Susan 125lbs

Hey gang!

There was a nasty rumor of sunshine for today, but they changed it once again. Ah well, at least I don't have to shovel any rain that falls! Mid 40's for us today, and around 50 something for tomorrow. Good thing it will be warmer as we'll be going to the Home and Garden show, and who knows what goodies will come home with us LOL!

Linda, LOL on the 'cook the snot out of it' comment! That one just tickled me today! I may have to try that just so I can use the phrase....

Zip, glad you like the pantry! After all that work of assembly, it would seriously suck if it wasn't what you wanted. Once you get those types of 'furniture' together, they do look nice. As far as that feller's post, I wouldn't want to look like I did at 17, I actually think I look better now with a little age on me.

Shawnee, glad you got to play outside yesterday even for a little bit. I'm sure Pup enjoyed the excursion too, and made sure the sticks went to good use.

Loretta, glad the nasties passed you by! I was getting worried when I heard the ice went north of Crashville and wondered if you were iced in. We had the prediction of ice too, which was only rain. Sheesh!

Pam, enjoy the weekend with the kiddies!

Susan, good girl on getting in that walk. Hopefully you will have some warmer weather soon so you can take the furbaby out to play with you.

Shelly, where'd ya go? Come on back in here--we want you on the board with us!

Well, all, have to trot on outta here. Have a good evening...

Hi to one and all of our eight plus lookers

A busy day here when I am "itching to get in that kitchen" with another new recipe or so. Went on some retail therapy and got some more skinny clothes. Eventually I will get rid of the loose fitting hide your figure ones.

Zip I sure know what you mean about those weather predictors. I get scared listening to them sometimes. Puts us through some stress for sure. Sure glad to hear that your cabinet is working out so well. A sad story about your neighbor that helped youget your cabinet. Hope things work out for her eventually. Time has a way of healing us and we move on.
If you don't want that Target they can send it over here. But I would hate to lose those international foods too.

Susan hope that dental appointment had you saying 'LOOK MOM NO CAVITIES' I am there every 3 months for cleaning. My teeth have always had problems. I got an electric toothbrush now and we will see if that helps. Hope your retail day was a fun one.
I had some time at the Mall before the stores opened at 10 am so I got some Mall Walking in. There were a bunch of other walkers there.

Linda how do you fix your mashed cauliflower. You seem to have it frequently. Do you use fresh or frozen. Dummy me I want to get it right the first time. Does the x gum change the flavor of the finished product as in the graveys? My snow the other day melted right off the driveway by 4 in the afternoon.

Ginny the only weather we have is cloudy. The sun has deserted us for some reason. Some southern states that never have snow have been getting a bad winter also. Texas got some of that freezing rain.

Shawnee out working in the yard, way to go. Ours is strictly muddy and will be a while drying out. I looked at the bigger WM today for the diabeta in the box but no luck. They sell the knox in 4 package boxes. LOL about wearing the cookies.
My DH was thrilled that I brought him home some Smoked Chubs. We have been searching and searching for them. I think he is pregnant wanting these strange foods. He was not too happy about the price but what the hey.

Tink enjoy those grandbrats this weekend and your off from work days.

Shelly hi to you and our favorite lurker (hope the chicken pox are under control.

Later guys

Loretta

Just checking back to see Whatsup!

Clear round, at the dentist! Teeth feel squeaky clean now after the baking soda cleaning. Gotta remember to be careful of the ole gums....too much recession from brushing too hard. I bought an electric brush 5 years ago now Loretta and it does make a difference. I just rush so much in the morning and most days just grab the manual brush it is quicker. I should take the time though cuz that electric one does a great job! You are itching to get baking again???? yikes!
What kinda skinny clothes did ya buy? I bought some navy pinstrip pants with a pale blue fine knitted sweater last weekend. The top was a small petite and the pants were a size 8, gone up from 6. Still looked good to me. These are the Benefits of this WOL! p.s. what are Smoked Chubs, I am guessing a kinda Fish?

Glad to hear that you have milder weather Ginny! Oh, a Home and Garden Show, how wonderful!
I did get out again today, as we had another glorious day of Sunshine and milder today. I took Oliver again and he just wanted to get in as soon as we went down our street, so I brought him in, turned around and walked again for another 30 minutes. You guys are a great influence! Fresh air, a change of scenery, sunlight and light exercise, why wouldnt I go for a Walk now the temps are better. I think we are in for the Deep Freeze again starting Mid-Week, so batten down the hatches again.

Zip: Yikes, Edward G. Robinson today and Robinson Crusoe yesterday....what is this, Robinson code? LOL!
I dont understand this TIME thing! It is showing hours out of wack to me. I'll try the profile thing and see if that makes a difference.
Glad to hear that the cans are going in the cabinets, now dont just throw them in there. They need to be lined up correctly in rows, larger ones to the rear, for easier accesibility. Just think you are lining-up toy soldiers, LOL!
Boy, did I ever find your posts hilarious the past couple of days re: the Sisters....I know, nuf said....I am trying to give up the "Habit!"
Take a walk on the Lime side, do, da, dop, da, dop, dop!!!! Oh ye! Hope you get the Britcoms back tonight! WE have been going through the same withdrawal up here too! Good job DH taped a few shows. I picked up "My Big Fat Greek Wedding" this aft for tonight. We got sucked into supporting our Public TV, as they do show lots of British shows that DH tapes regularly, so we felt we owed them! I pick up the Movies and they are all American! Sorry, we dont have Target stores up here! Cant get those foods you mentioned.

By my wreckoning only half of us checked in today. (4) more to check in! Hey Linda ya got through the week, Tink enjoy the weekend, Shawnee what ya up to? Shelly come back and visit soon!

Hi everyone,

Roger, Mills Pride are the same cabinets I got for the basement kitchen. For inexpensive things they aren't too bad at all. Mine are light wood, Hartford, I believe. Hope you enjoy yours.

Sorry about the long winded Pledge drives on PBS. LOL I can just see them burning Yanni at the stake on the Acropolis. <shudder> That place is far to beautiful for all the smoke that would be generated from his burning body. I do love to listen to the Tenors though.

Age will catch up with that young one sooner or later. I never looked my age until I was well into my late 30's. Oh the good ol days.

Susan, Glad the dental appointment went well. Those electric tooth brushes are great! We got one a few months ago and just love it. Hopefully the dentist will notice the difference when I go in May.
Let us know how you like "My Big Fat Greek Wedding". Everyone I know who saw it loved it. Gerard will NOT go to a movie so maybe we can rent it too.

Yup made it through the week at work and thankfully, have only 4 more weeks to go.

Ginny,
It's warming up nicely for you down there. Enjoy that Home and Garden show. I LOVE them.
Don't work too hard tonight.

Loretta,
Fresh or frozen cauliflower work equally as well. Just drain it well, mash with some cream cheese..4 oz.. add a splash of cream and some butter, salt and pepper and maybe even some other sharp cheese if you like the flavor.
Guar gum or xanthan don't change the flavor of the gravy at all. I do add a splash of heavy cream just before serving to cut the slime a bit.
So what new skinney clothes did you get? Isn't it great to get into smaller sizes? I can even buy in the kids dept now but most of the stuff is not appropriate for an old broad. Just Sweats and some tee's are fine. LOL I bought some undies too cause the small size 5 womans is a little big.

Yeah, what are chubs?

Shawnee, Is dh working away on your new cabinet? Hopefully you got your fragile stuff boxed up and put out of harms reach.
Hope you got to enjoy working in the yard today.

Pam, enjoy the weekend.

Oh Shelly, come on back to us. We really don't bite. Hope you aren't in the middle of the messy weather.

Hi Lurker, how are the kids and that nasty chicken pox.

If I can get my butt out of bed early enough, I'm going to our annual St. Pat's day parade. One of my grandbrats is taking Irish dancing lessons and will be marching in it. Our city has it early because of the big pipe bands coming from NYC and all around. They are booked solid for other parades the next two weeks.
The roster includes the New York City Police Emerald Society, pipe bands representing the Philadelphia and Westchester Co. firemen, the Albany police department's pipers, three more Pennsylvania units (Penn-York from Sayre, the Ceol-Mor from Wilkes-Barre and the Black Diamond from Scranton), the Syracuse Scottish pipers and Broome County's own B.C. Celtic Pipes and Drums, which are invited to march in New York City on March 17.

Then it's off to a post parade drunken bash where one of the Philly pipers, a blind guy, always has people dancing on the tables. He is just spectacular!!

Off to lurk.
Later

Hi, Crazy 8's. I was a good girl, and spent the day doing housework. The kids will all be arriving about 8:30 p.m. I'm a worried mom, because it's snowing. and the drive up Echo Summit can be a bear. Tomorrow is the Cinderella Pageant. Interviews start at 9:00 a.m. I'll be weaving 13 yr. old DGD's hair tonite, and cutting son-in-law's. Tomorrow morning, I'll do 5 year old's hair, and trip 18 month old's bangs. Aye yi yi!
Zip--Can't believe the guy who wants to look older. Give him 30 years, and he'll probably change his tune. The cabinet site is great, and bet you have tons more room.
Susan--So the trip to the dentist wasn't too bad? Dentists scare the heck out of me. As a child, one dentist didn't give me enough Novacaine, and I almost flew out of my chair.
Ginny--Enjoy the Home and Garden show. You'll be like a kid in a candy store.
Loretta--Nothing better than shopping! I wish we had a Target in our town. The closest thing to that type of store is a dumpy K-Mart. I wish it would close, and they'd bring in Target or Wal-Mart.
Linda--N.Y. has a fabulous St. Paddy's day celebration, from what I heard, and seen on t.v. Someday, it would be fun to go there. I like the 3 tenors voices, although they're quite the Prima Donalds.

Hi Y'all (old Soap Stars and Ginny)

No outside playing today, the rains came! It was Bill-paying day, might as well do a depressing deed on a dismal day. Sure feels good to have that chore out of the way, altho the bank account is moaning from withdrawal pains..

Geez, ZIP....at the speed we are NOT progressing with the cabinet building here on site...LOL..wish I would have gotten one like yours! DH is sooo persnickedy, trying to actually make that wood plan line up with the crooked walls, etc..despite his pickiness, he's still a Bull in a China Shop, so I know some things in the immediate vacinity will suffer near-fatal casualties. I try to make allowances for his physical limitations...(has several disabilities)..but his Tunnel-vision O/C attitude makes for combustible conversations when we try to compromise on these projects..

..AND if there's a $SALE$ on those cabinets, I just know you will be stockpiling them!! PS..I remembered your crack re Breast Pumps..will they suck juice from Limes? Glad you are happy with your Pantry, you earned it the hard way.

Susan, whatever wound you so merrily up, I want some too! ..and I'm sure your giddiness isn't just from clean teeth..LOL..Great to see you so upbeat....even when Oliver balked on the walk, you carried on like a Trooper. Isn't it great to slip into a Small top? (now Montana is bragging about her "little girl" panties...LOL )

Montana, hope ya make that Parade...you outta do it for BOTH of us,..(1/4 Scots-Irish here...)
Got my IRISH pin from a gal peddling them in the Wally parking lot..she was deaf and speech-impared. I cannot bring myself to use the phrase Deaf Mute, it sounds degrading to me. Our cabinet and Gerard's clutch activities are proceeding at about the same pace..LOL>> Dang, I'd like to share DH's little dollie-thingy for under the rig, that cement gets cold! Having a CRS moment, what do ya call those things, look like the forerunner of a skateboard, you lie on it and slide under the rig? Creeper?
I'll remember as soon as I hit Submit. ...grumble, grumble..having too many of these brain glitches...
I wonder what Loretta's DH was tasting, and thinking it was the Xanthan... Your "Pun Intended" re your Exam was priceless! (..and I'm not "poking" fun at you..) Have a great time tomorrow at that Orgy.

Loretta, my guess is Salami...ok, so what's a Chub?
Suppose we could see a pic of you in your new skinny duds?
I had the same experience as you, re the Knox gelaten at the store...almost $8 for a bunch...no single little boxes. I think I'll follow Montana's lead, and look in the Brats Dept for clothing..except panties, unless they are for BIG big girls..

Ginny, wish we were all going on your junket tomorrow. I know it will be like a trip to Eden, and you will be spending all your OT money Enjoy it for ALL of us.

Tink, you busy gal..clean house all day, and tackle hair at night. You make my feet hurt, all that standing on them after playing Suzy. Hope you and family have a wonderful time, and enjoy each other and the pageant.

Good weekend to All.

HI, Dragon

Hey Pam, I'm impressed with your talents. Hair cutting too?? Wow! Hope by now your family arrived safely in spite of the snow. Have fun with your family.

Shawnee, Creeper is right.. He has a home made thingy but I have some old out door chair cushions that he can use on the thing. I keep telling him to get them out of the garage attic, but you know men. I have a feeling that we will call the tow truck to take the truck to a real garage soon. He has run into a problem with some bolts that he just can't seem to reach. He is going to try again over the next few days. Sheesh!
I hope your dh gets the cabinet done soon. Oh yeah right, eh? Might be best for you to leave the construction site and do some retail therapy with your G Brat. Check out those undies.

The brat's dept. doesn't have to many things that look good on us older gals unfortunately. Those undies do fit better, but oh my gawd, the prints.

Glad you got the bill paying out of the way. Ouch is right. Did ours today too.
