Preg. thread for thursday 02.27.03

Lisa,
I hope you got through yesterday alright. I am sending healing prayers your way. What a sad time you have to get through right now. Please be good to yourself. ((hugs to you))
On a brighter note....I made it to Wichita in the snow and ice for my perinatal appointmant with the high risk specialist and had another sonogram, this time transvaginal.....I saw our little pumpkin's heartbeat! I have never made it this far in a pregnancy before! I just cried. I really wasn't expecting to see it. I am feeling more relieved about this pregnancy. I am just thanking God everyday for being pregnant and giving me one more day. I know I still have a loooong road ahead of me but the road seems a bit friendlier today.
I hope you are all doing well.

Cecilia ~ I'm so glad that you got to see the heartbeat! Congrats! I am still praying that everything goes well for you.

Lisa ~ I'm so sorry for your loss. I really don't know what else to say to, so here are some ((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))) for ya! I hope you join us again soon!

I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything is still ok. I have gained a lot more weight than I would have liked, but as long as my baby is healthy, I am not concerned. I will have plenty of time to get it off once she is here.

But, on a brighter note, I get to have another ultrasound in two weeks! I thought that the one I had at 23 weeks was the only one I got, but the doc I saw yesterday says he wants to do one at 32 weeks just to make sure the baby is growing the way that she should, etc. Fine with me! I can't wait to see her again. Needless to say, I am very exited!

Well, gotta get back to work. Hi to those who follow and I hope everyone is doing well!

Susan

Hey all: Well, I don't know what has been wrong, but I have not been able to get to the site since Monday, somehow I think my link was broken.

Not much going on here, I am having a 3D ultrasound done on Saturday, but other than taht I am just coasting along.

Lisa, hope you are doing ok!

Mayre, thanks for your words of encouragement about being a SAHM. I really do not want to return to work, and I am not really that "career" orientated. I am pretty traditional in the way I think. I was raised by a great aunt and uncle and there was not a day that went by that I didn't get off the bus to someone being home. They were both retired by the time they took us in, but I really do belive it makes a big difference. I am sure we will be able to afford for me to stay home as long as we are willing to give up some of our fun things. And, I really don't see us being able to do most of our fun things once the baby comes anyway!

Hi all,

Glad to see there is a bit of activity on this board as I feel I will need your support badly. We haven't told anyone yet that we're expecting as we're still getting over the shock (just found out yesterday). I think we may want to wait until the end of the first trimester, but I'm not sure I'll be able to hide it for that long. For one thing, my SIL is planning an Atkins birthday dinner for me in a few weeks. Not that eating low-carb is a problem, but I am having trouble getting out of ketosis - go figure! I've had 2 toasts this morning with paté and a yogurt, then a big salad and a peach at lunch, and my ketostik turned medium pink this afternoon. Just ate a handful of crackers (though, thankfully, not because of any m/s). Anyway, about the birthday party, I'm not sure how I will cover up turning down some wine... My family is now so used to my WOE that they would immediately be suspicious if they see me eating something carby. Have any of you had to hide your new pregnancy eating habits to anyone before you officially announced you were pregnant?

Even as I write this, I have trouble believing it's true and that I really am pregnant. I ran to the bookstore yesterday and bought What to Expect When You're Expecting, Atkins for Life and Pilates During Pregnancy. Spent a couple of hours reading last night! I calculated I have 5 weeks done, and my only symptoms so far are tender breasts and mild discomfort in my lower belly. It's weird, I've been dreaming, hoping and praying for this time for so long (this is my first pregnancy at 36), and yet I won't let myself get too excited yet in case something goes wrong. I hope you don't mind my rambling, it just feels good to be able to talk about this!! My DBF himself is still reeling under the shock... his first concern is about money, and admittedly, we don't have much floating around. I just figure we'll find a way. Well, time for me to call back the birthing centre to make an appointment. I was told there's a waiting list but I may get bumped up since I'm at walking distance. Wish me luck!

Sylv

Hi all! I'm home and doing pretty well. It was MUCH easier than I had anticipated. The anesthesia wasn't bad at all, and so far the cramping & bleeding really isn't bad either. Hopefully with some rest the next couple of days will go smoothly, too. Thank you for all of your supportive wishes. And I don't think you're going to get rid of me too easily - I have to keep checking in on you all . I'm not sure when DH & I are going to start trying again, but we will definitely start baby-dancing sometime this year. Emotionally we're both doing fine, and I'm sure that by the end of the weekend I'll be fine physically, too.

Supportinghubby - REST, REST, REST! I'm so sorry you're miserable & having contractions. Please take care of yourself & keep us updated.

Slyv - my trick with the wine issue - go ahead and accept a glass, take teeny-tiny baby sips, and keep putting the glass down and "losing" it. My other strategy is to have my dh "accidentally" pick up my glass & drink it, so if your DBF is there he can help cover for you. It works with my family . And *congrats* again - I know what a wonderfully exciting time this is - relax & enjoy it!!!

Cecilia - *CONGRATS* on your u/s and heartbeat! I have a good feeling that this is going to be a great pregnancy for you! Now be careful in all that snow & ice!

Susie - don't worry about the weight! Also, I remember from my other pregnancies that it seemed to come in spurts - some appointments I had big jumps, and some appointments it wasn't too bad. Your body is going to do what it wants and needs to do . How's your back doing? I hope you have had a little relief there.

ldybug - You know what, things have a way of working themselves out. If you want to be a SAHM, I know it will happen for you. And when your sweet baby arrives, you really won't miss the things you will have to give up. I thought I was going to go back to work after my 1st DD was born, but once she arrived, I just knew I couldn't go back, so we did some last minute scrambling to make it work. It was tight, but so worth it! Good luck!

I'll keep peeking in here on all of you, and hopefully I'll be one of the gang again soon!

BTW - has ANYONE heard anything from GApreg lately? I'm a little worried; I hope everything is okay with her!

-Lisa

LIsa: I just wanted to let you know that we are all thinking of you still. Hoping the next few days go smoothly for you. Please rest and take your time healing. Bigg huggs to you.

Farmgirl: I am so happy when I see "older" first time mothers (I mean this is the nicest way), It makes me so very grateful that I have been so blessed to be able to get pregnant, stay pregnant and have beautiful babies. This is such a blessing in my life and I can "see" that joy in you! This is a long road, but it is a beautiful road!

ldybug: I must have missed your SAHM post, but I just want to give you more encouragement. Being a SAHM is the hardest but the best job I've ever "applied" for! I will tell you that it's not for everyone, but it is definitely for me. I had a wonderful career and I'm so glad to have given it up to be home. I'm also grateful to have such a supportive husband who doesn't mind when I haven't even gotton out of my pajamas during the day. If you have any concerns or questions or just need support, please let me know. Staying home is difficult and so very rewarding. And trust me, once your little girl is here, your definition of "fun things" changes dramatically. I put spending the afternoon at Target and renting a movie as "fun"!

Sylv: Congrats to you. I agree with Lisa, just take the glass of wine and take very little sips. Even pour some down the drain in the bathroom if you have to. A few sips will not hurt your baby, although I understand as a first time mother you don't want to do even the slightest thing that is "dangerous". I will admit that I didn't have a drop of alchohol during my first pregnancy, but I have had a glass of wine on several occasions this time around. Just don't drink the whole bottle! I also absolutely love the book "your pregnancy week by week" by Dr Curtis. I liked this book much better than the "what to expect" books. JMHO. Another tip, Don't worry about symptoms or lack there of. EVERYTHING is normal. I didn't have a single symptom during the first 12 weeks I was pregnant with Melissa and I was puking my guts out by week 6 with this baby. I'm excited for you!!

GApreg: we are looking for you......
And all of our other missing members....
