Wow, another month ready to bit the dust...and still frigid...14° F (BTW, anybody who wants to make a "degree" symbol, its ....... &dfg; (don't forget to begin with an ampersand and end with a semicolon)
Replace the f with an e and you get °
Here's a passel of them- they work on all bulletin boards (and in your website) but not in e-mail.
http://www.cwrl.utexas.edu/~critical...tagschars.html

Showering in a couple minutes so I don't get frotstbite heading for the old DEPOT...Linda, thanks for the info about their "loaders"....they may come in handy...the box is about 7 feet long (the pantry is 6 1/2' high....and heavy heavy laminated epoxy sawdust....crappy but dense! (pressboard?)...well over 100 pounds and impossibly shaped for one to handle.

See, Loretta has been "found"...call the police patrols back:

Off to the shower, more later. Pray for my back!

ps...I scoured all the "normal" stores, ShopRite, A&P, Foodmart....NO key lime juice...I was surprised. So I bought some nice fresh juicy limes....$.10 a piece....I know, I know, they are the dreaded "green" ones...but they're delicious too.

Confession sin: Bless me father for I have sinned, I bought 2 Valentine hearts yesterday (Whitman Sampler 1/2 Pound) at the A&P...It should be considered a venial sin because they were 75% off, more than this bargain hunter can pass up...down to $1.24 from $4.99 (SATAN kept saying, GO AHEAD, BUY 3 DOZEN)
We polished one off last night during THE BOURNE IDENTITY (watchable...in a pinch...Matt Damon is definitely NOT the James Bond type) but it had one of the best car chases ever.

I will NOT go near the A&P til I'm sure they sold the last of the Whitman's (probably gone already)

Brrrr again!! it's 5 ° in our back yard right now. Thanks for the cool site Roger. Let's see if I can make it work.

That's a good size pantry so please don't try to lift it yourself. You don't want to be flat on your back and in pain again.

Whitman Sampler's?? OY! For your penance, say three Hail Mary's and back on induction for two days.

It's another work day for me so I'll catch up with everyone tonight.

Where is Pam BTW?

Loretta, Ginny, Shelly, I hope the temps are better in the south.
Susan, Send this cold air back to Alaska.
Shawnee, How's everything in the NW?

Good Morning Maintainers!

I was out early for an 8:30a.m. meeting it was close to home, so I am back in between, before I am off to facilitate the other group down town for 12:30 till 2p.m.

ZIP: Do I detect some RC catechism class there? Wow, Linda too, Hail Mary's who remembers that? My kids dont even know what the Rosary is...... nuf said. I went to Convent School cant you guess....and visited many shrines in Europe, including the Vatican 7 times before I was 13, yep, Mother was a strong RC. Pilgrimmages every year. Loudres, Fatima, Rome, Oberammagau in Germany for the Passion Play in 1960. We hit every Country in Europe that had a shrine, every year for 3 weeks, Oh JOY, Oh JOY! We lived in the UK so it was easy to cross the channel and off into Europe.

Yikes, you come on this BB and ya never know what ya'll be talking about! Fun eh?

Later,

LOTS OF SNOW COMING DOWN IT is pretty but I know what it looks like by now and I don't need any more reminders.

Shawnee on that grill. I think that the GF are overrated. I have a Hamilton Beach that I bought on line. It is very large and had removable grills for easy cleanup. It also has a nice side drainer for the fats. I use mine just for hamburgers, which I think are done to perfection in 5 min. The price was not out of line compared to the other brand. Now my next question. I found the Diabetasweet. What is the advantage of it over splenda? It had 4.5 carbs per serving. I forget to check the serving size though. I did not buy it yet.

Zip be careful on loading that cabinet. That and getting it into your apartment. Those pressed wood products are so heavy. You will probably be a while putting it all together too. LOL on that confession. Thanks for the website. I will have to check that out.

Ginny are you getting this mess of snow. It was suppose to be sleet and freezing rain but I would rather have the snow. Dress warm, Dock Goddess. Are the boys into any projects?

Shelly good to see you post and that you had a safe and enjoyable trip. Glad you were able to stay on track while visiting too. Glad someone has warm temps and no snow. I sure am missing a lot of walks this winter.

Susan I envy you having visited those shrines and the Vatican.
Must have been quite an experience for one so young. Glad you meetings are going well today. Keep up your good work in helping them put down those cigs.

Hey Linda our weather is just as bad as yours this winter. Has Gerard finished the clutch? Our husbands must think a lot a like. We have to think about something quite a long while before we actually get to it. Seems like they have to mull over it and rearrange mentally at least 10 times. You sure catch on fast getting you 5 degree symbol up there. I was a little befuddled.
I found diabetasweet where you told me to look. Now I need to know its advantage over Splenda. I tried a search on the web but could not find any good info on it.

Hey tink hope you are not working too hard at the Tux shopppe.
Have you gotten ready for that baby shower yet? Those showers are fun.

All have a safe and warm Wednesday.

Howdy to the Crazy 8's! Yesterday was appt. day. Got a nightguard thing to help with the teeth-grinding. Then, to Reno for eye appts. DH & I had dilations done, and I got contacts. To beauty supply to get perm for a steady client, Babies 'R Us to buy a travel system stroller for younger DD's upcoming baby shower. Had a good, low carb buffet dinner at the Atlantis. Kids will be up this week-end for 3 DGD's Cinderella Pageant at Embassy Suites. So, housework beckons today!
Zip, Zip, Zip! Why do have such a hard time resisting anything marked 75% off? Oh, well. That chocolate should clear out of you in no time. Thanks for the great info. I'm gonna practice the degree one. 32 &def; Hope it worked.
Linda--Brrr is right! Geez, when is it going to warm up back there? Back to work for you, ugh. But not much longer?
Susan--The DGS is being named Ryan Edward. There are 3 living great-grandfathers by the name of Edward. I've noticed that many RC's who were raised by the strict doctrines of the church do not attend. I was married in the Catholic church, because my DH was Catholic, and I didn't want to cause any strife with his mother. But, I was raised Baptist, and that's where my roots will always be, even though I converted to Catholicsm in 1983. My feelings is that church attendance isn't as important as having it in the heart and soul.
Loretta--No work for me this week-end! The kids & DGK's will be here. And, by dangit, I want to spend time with them! The shower is March 15th at 1 p.m. in Fairfield, CA. My older DD & younger DD's sister-in-law are hosting it. We may stay overnight, not sure yet.
Ginny, Shawnee, and Shelly--Come on in to round us out!

Hey y'all,

I'm here...we haven't been washed away by the rain yet, so all is well. Hoping the temps rise so we don't have ICE tonight for the drive home

Shelly, glad you had a good trip and are safe at home! See, it's not so hard staying on plan! We knew you could do it.

Shawnee, I think I'm missing a step in that puzzle site. Can't figure it out, so I emailed their tech support and we'll see what happens. Your temps have been like ours here some--lots of fluctuation! Saturday it was 60's, then Sat night, sneaux! What's going on here?

Loretta, we don't have sneaux, but rain today. At least you don't have to shovel rain.....still, wishing for warmer temps so I can ditch the coveralls for the season. Besides, they now need another washing! Stay in and stay warm...

Linda, brrrrr, you and Zip and Susan really have the cold stuff now. Be careful going out and about! No, Redneck Girl is only 2WD, but she sets right on up there. When we have some nice weather, I'll get a pic of us

Zip, get HD to load that for you, and be very careful of your back when you bring it into the house! Those darn things are heavy--our computer desk weighed a ton!

Pam, glad you're gonna take it easy this weekend and not work. You deserve to PLAY too! Have fun with the family!

Susan, even tho it's warmer here, I'm still looking forward to spring. This seems like the worst winter we've had in quite a few years, and I'm not enjoying the frigid (for here) temps one bit. In about 6 months, we'll all be whining about the heat, reckon?

Well, all, time to water a couple things in the gh, then off to work...

Hi Y'all

Cold with a chilly wind here; waiting to see if Weatherman's predicted minor SNEAUX materializes...

LORETTA ! go get that DiabetaSweet. ..if they still have the Ugly White 2 lb box (containing two 1-lb sacks) get that! better deal $-wise.
The 4.4 Carbs are Sugar Alcohols...they DO NOT count, which equals ZERO carbs...so if ya sub it for one cup of Splenda, ya save 24 carbs....(like using DaVinci with its ZERO carbs)...but its great in baking, cause it has BULK and caramelizes when heated.

WOW, Susan, you are one well-travelled and well-exposed to RC sites person. I do hope you got to enjoy the "other" wonders of those cities, not just the religious aspects. Your DM seems to have been quite devout, to put it mildly.

Thanks, Ginny..for the above and beyond work on that Puzzle.
I'm sure your long legs are still sexy in those coveralls, but know you prefer Shorts weather.

Tink, good plan, being there to enjoy the GBrats since they don't live in your immediate area.

ZIP..*tisk-tisk*...I finally opened my Valentine's Whitman candy box last night..BUT they are SF..so no guilt..and only one piece consumed, as I'm not into paying the price on the Potty later.
Went to Home Depot and got the materials for the cabinet, GAWD, paid $35 for a sheet of Birch...so far, its $50 for materials, and DH will use some stuff that he already has. He's now napping and planning....LOL..
Thanks for the site. °
After ya get that Pantry installed, will you be on a shopping spree to fill it?
Frankly, I think fresh lime juice is FINE !

Montana, do be careful out in that frigid weather, and hope your clients behave themselves.

Hi Shelly ...do you bake cookies, pies, cakes..bread....? What type work are ya into?

later

Shawnee

Hi gang,

I had a nice DEPOT trip with my neighbor...she's a dear, just broke up with hubby, has 2 preteens, a $2000 apartment and just lost her job...but we enjoyed each others company. She has a van so the cabinet went in 1-2-3. I was right about the weight...125#.
We had dinner and theater planned but one of the actors fell off the stage hurting him/herself at last night's performance...so No Show (It's called AVENUE Q and we'll see it next week), they notified everybody on a theater chat website...the spiderweb of a network is AMAZING.
So it's cabinetry tonight...WOO WOO!

Pam, you are right. If I saw a 75%OFF sale on BREAST PUMPS I'd have to buy a couple...I have the SALE GENE as part of my chromasomal makeup. Repace the "f" with a "g" and you've got the degree symbol. Let's have a snap of Ryan Edward.

Susan, I had 32 years of education with nuns....well 13 anyway- it FELT like 32. (the thirteenth was kindergarten with Sister Mary Hitler.) Grade scool was all German Franciscans...yep bloody rulers and all...I was actually whipped accross the bare legs with a ruler at age 5... Up against the sandbox (I had talked with my "neighbor.") High school was mixed nuns...a pack of 5 different convents...Only mild mannered and sweet were THE SISTERS OF CHARITY...they were also the smartest and handled math, Sisters of Mary were in blue and did ENGISH, LATIN and SPANISH and MUSIC...the Franciscans PANZERS did SCIENCES...oh yeah, some crazies in BIG wimbles (wimples? windbags??) did History ( Sisters of St. Joseph I believe)....ALL NUTS...crazy, crazy women...the two or three who had any sembance of humanity left soon! One actually went psychotic while teaching my eighth grade class and was put in a booby hatch...after she attacked a girl, flattened her beneath a sea of black veils and took her lipstick off with a BRILLO PAD... 80 pound 13 year old versus a 400 pound SCREAMING VALKYRIE-...This was one of HUNDREDS of similar events.

It was one year of my life that NOBODY would believe if I wrote it in a book!

Enough fun Catholocism.

It's COLD but the bulk of the storm is passing just to our South. Linda and I should escape with only a couple inches. TWO inches for us will break all February Records for snow back 100 years.

Now, I've got to do a quick shop for something for dinner (since no theater...FISH grabs me!)

Hi again, I'm LMAO at you Roger and the fun Catholocism rant. Oh my God!! I went to a public school but HAD to attend religious instructions twice a week with those blasted nuns and the bloody rulers. Ah, what nice memories of physical abuse as a child.

Glad you got the pantry home and hope it goes together nicely for you.

Susan, Oy! you too huh? My mom and grandfather were very into RC and saw to it that we three kids got "the education". I did get to the Vatican once but not the other shrines.
Hope your group went well today.

Loretta, the Diabeti Sweet does have the sugar alcohols like Shawnee said. Just don't eat a lot of that stuff. Boy I learned the hard way when I got some Russell Stover SF Toffee things.

LMAO Gerard finish the clutch?? HA! He is just about ready to drop the old one out but it's been so cold his poor fingers freeze. Really slow going. Oh well, maybe it will be done by spring.

Sorry about all that snow down south. Gee, what is going on? You be careful on the roads and DON'T SHOVEL too much.

Ginny, Hope you aren't going to get flooded where you are. My gosh you have had lots of rain there.

Can't wait to see a picture of Red Neck Girl. Our little Toyota is red and I love it. I guess after 13 years, we should name her, eh?

Tink, Good for you taking this weekend off.
You sure did a lot with all the running around and appointments. God I need to get my eyes examined agin soon. I hate that dilation though. Let us know how the night guard works. I saw one at Wally world and thought about getting it. I hate to spend the mega bucks to have the dentist fit one. Bandits!!
My contract with NYS is up March 31 and I still don't know if they are going to extend it. The facility wants to keep me (UGH!) but the place is broke and don't know if the Gov. will release any more funds for positions. They are even talking lay offs. The state is also closing two large Psych Centers .. One in Elmira and one in Syracuse. Wonder what they will do with all of those patients.

Look out Zip, maybe they will filter them into the homeless population in NYC.

Shawnee, Chripes what happened to the price of building materials? Everything is soooo expensive lately. So how large a cabinet is he building?? Don't ya just love their planning stage? Naps and sleeping on it do wonders.

Got some Key Lime juice today after work as well as Thai coconut milk, unsweetened coconut and am ready to go with your pie. Hopefully it will turn out ok cause we are going to try it out on the moms Sunday along with Gerard's fameous meatloaf.

Off to lurk... Later

Yikes, sounds like WE had the same Nuns. I love your Sister Mary Hitler, yep, I knew her, 'cept she was called sister Margaret Mary Hitler. I had "6 of the best" with a leather strap on my hands, in front of the class, all girls, for having an ink blob in my exercise book, we used ink wells and those dip pens back in the 50's. These were our formative years! Whoda known that we would all end up on this BB in OUR Golden Years!

I am just home from a late meeting on Health Care Reform, dry...I need to watch some mindless TV, some wine and a good sleep. Till tomorrow!

Hi Again Y'all

Predicted snowflakes failed to show...oh, BOO HOO...yeah, right

I've been goofing off and haven't made any cookies...sure could go for some of those "K" Greek ones right about now, Montana...
Loretta, did you make some cookies?

the "proposed" cabinet is just a regular sized upper one..but built at an angle on one outer corner,,and will abutt another one, to form an L shape...then from its top across to the opposite wall (above a window) we'll run a shelf..ala Christopher Lowell..
thing is, our poor old OLD house is so out of whack...all the houses in this neck of the woods have settled...and there's not a true plumbed wall or floor in the neighborhood. Drop a marble, its gonna roll..
DH is trying to figure out how to make it appear level and match existing stuff, while dealing with all the out of whack walls and ceiling...I told him that if the 1/2" variance from one end to the other of the shelf is noticeable, I camoflage it with fluffy trailing plants...at least THAT problem is solved

My DM was raised "C" and couldn't wait to escape it...Guess I never knew anyone else who was so adamant that her offspring
seek to find their own version of religion or spiritulality...and that there should be no "middle man" between a person and his/her Creator.

Montana, the streets of all our cities are clogged with ex-residents of closed and/or over-crowded Mental Facilities and Jails. Now the schools are cutting off 24 days of the school year, as well as some extra-curricular activities and Sports. WHERE THE HELL'S THE TAX MONEY GOING??????????

Good luck with that Lime Pie.

Got the GForman, made rib eyes..so far, so good. Clean-up was another matter; gotta remember to leave the lid up after use next time, so the gunk doesn't bake on.

EDITED: Loretta, re the DiabetaSweet...in Baking, the laxative effect won't be the same as in SF candies, because of the large amounts of other ingredients you'll be mixing in with it..(don't want ya to be 'scared poop-less" about using it...)..you can also use it with part-Splenda, to cut carbs.

Shawnee, Yup those ol house settlings are a tough problem to take care of . Bet that cabinet will be nice though and your idea of camo with plants is GREAT!

Yeah where the hell is our tax money going?? Perhaps another Boston Tea Party is in order.

I found the Koulourakia cookie recipe. Thanks a million. They are a keeper.

Koulourakia (Sesame Cookies)

Ingredients

1/2 C Butter
1/2 C Splenda (or combo of Davinci/ Splenda)
1 t Vanilla
2 Eggs
2 1/2 c Almond flour (or combo of almond and ww flour )

1 Tbls Gluten for binder (or 1/2 tsp Xanthan or Guar) gum)
1 1/2 ts Baking powder
1 ts Ground cinnamon
1/4 ts Ground cloves
1/4 c Milk (cream/water)
1/2 c Toasted sesame seeds

Method

Cream butter and sugar with vanilla until light and fluffy. Beat eggs, reserve 1 tablespoon for glazing and add remainder gradually to butter mixture, beating well. Sift dry ingredients twice. Stir into creamed mixture alternately with milk to form a soft dough. Knead lightly until smooth. If dough is sticky, chill for 1 hour. Scatter some sesame seeds lightly on one side of pastry board. Shape pieces of dough into thick pencil shapes and roll onto the sesame seeds to coat lightly or according to taste. Double over rolled dough and twist, or form into rings, figure eights or coils. Place on greased baking sheets and glaze with reserved egg beaten with a little milk. Bake in a moderate oven for 15-20 minutes until golden brown. Cool on a wire rack and store in an airtight container. Variation: Roll dough in granulated sugarSPLENDA instead of seeds. Glaze lightly with milk.
Cooking time: 15-20 minutes Oven temperature: 190 C (375 F)

YUP, Montana...this taxatation crap is crying out for a revolt. We can't afford to support our so-called representatives in such fine style...they sure as hell aren't representing the majority of the working/taxpaying stiffs. I've always wondered why our Governors get a MANSION as a perk of the job. HAHA, ours had to temporarily move out, while the BATS were removed from the top story. Just the annual upkeep on those joints would sure fund a lot of much-needed Programs...

Thanks for posting that K recipe, I'd forgotten how GOOD they are...and I won't have to dig thru tons of recipes to find it again.

Think I'll try it with a combo of Almond and Oat flour, plus a dab of WW......too tired to make them tonight; maybe tomorrow..if I can get to the oven in the construction zone...LOL
