Need help with my husband

I've been struggling to lose this weight for a couple of years. I've lost 70 pounds but still have 60 to go. I put my husband on Atkins in January and he promptly lost 90 pounds. Don't you just hate men. Anyway, he needs to maintain now but is still losing. He didn't even slow down when he got closer to goal. Again don't ya just hate em :-) Anyway, it's been difficult because there's so many things he doesn't like. He ate mainly induction foods the whole time with berries thown in. Now I'm not sure what to feed him to get his weight to stop. He doesn't like milk or milk products. Nor grains like bread or oatmeal. I did buy him some watermelon today. Boy I had to fight myself to stay out of it :-) He doesn't like nuts or peanut butter.
Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks,

Susan

Will he eat sweet potatoes or winter squashes? How about dried beans? Brown rice? Bananas? Avocados (more than just a bit) or pineapple?

Up his veggies and berries. Maybe add in some whole wheat pasta? They have some really yummy kinds out now that taste alot like regular.

Ok, Thanks. He does like bananas and has been eating 1 or 2 a day. He doesn't like sweet potatos or beans or avocados. I'm not sure if he likes pineapple.
He does like speghetti and I have some in the cupboard. I tried it a while back and didn't do well with it but I'll just have the sauce.
Thanks. Good ideas :-)

There are a lot of meals that call for rice as a base, he could have it with, you without. I didn't notice if he would eat baked potato skins? Now that my wife and I are maintainers we have them on occasion.

Interesting thread. I am working on hubs to get him on board with me. The more I read on here about men losing, the better it is. Rick, any words of advice for me to give to Denis? He is a severe carb addict. He tried low carb once before and only lasted 3 hrs. I think the headache scared him. I think a lot of it was psychological though.

Tomswife,
When my husband has spaghetti I saute sliced Italian squash (looks like zuchinni) in a squirt of olive oil and a pat of butter. I like it better than spaghetti noodles with my sauce.

I don't know about 3hrs but I had a carb headache for 5days when I started. Try to get Denis to look at this site, there are a lot of men who tried all the other woe's but this is the only one that you truly can live on and not feel the need to binge. See if you can get a copy of the Fat Head video, that has swung a lot of people over and its pretty funny too. Here is a list I give newbies, it might help, it's hard to lc alone but it's better than dying!
-As close to zero carbs as you can for 28 days
-Read the lables! If a serving isn't less than 2 carbs-don't eat it!
-Watch your total intake-don't eat more than you need
-Stop eating when your no longer hungry
-If your not losing-stop snacking
- Don't be afraid of fat, it keeps your appetite down
-No sugar-bread-pasta-rice-potato of any kind for 28 days
-No juice or fruits, only green vegetables(except peas)
-Prepare your meals ahead or prepare to fail
-Don't eat ANYTHING after 8:00pm
-Don't cheat! Your only cheating yourself!
-Salads are great but eat a great salad! greens-cheese-
nuts- ham/chicken-sliced boiled egg, make it a meal!
-Make a menu and look forward to it
-Always eat breakfast! If time is a problem bake eggs the night before
and nuke them or have pre-boiled eggs ready (PLAN)
- make the no-noodle lasagna and shepherds pie
and freeze individual portions for a great lunch!
-Cook up some skinless boneless chicken breasts, they freeze and
thaw great.
-Fry up a lb of bacon(cut in small strips) it makes a great add/on to
eggs or salad or in chicken salad.
-Have the food you need to eat in the house and toss the stuff you can't eat!
-Have a bag of pre-shredded cheese in the fridge ready to garnish your meal.

Thanks Rich. I think I will try these tips also. The scale isn't moving much for me at all. I will print this off and read to him.
