Did you lose on one plan and now maintaining on another one?

Hello All,
Just curious if any of you switched plans during your journey or did you stick with one the whole time?

Oh yeah I switched after like 3 years of Atkins to some other plans. High carb low fat, moderate carb moderate protein moderate fat. Now I'm on Scarsdale. My true feelings are that I love Atkins but the fat is too high for my cholesterol. My body didn't respond to that very well and it gave me stubborn tummy fat that ultimately came off after I switched to a new plan.

I lost all my weight on Atkins and then switched to Burn The Fat Feed The Muscle. I did fine on Atkins, but wanted to figure out the best way to incorporate good carbs and enough protein in my diet. I read a lot of good things about BFFM on the Muscle Matters board, as well as other fitness and exercise boards, so I decided to download the ebook.

I love this way of eating because its based on eating several small meals a day, each containing a complete protein. I eat a lower carb version of the plan, though. The only carbs I eat are from veggies, some fruit, oats and dairy.

WOE: Eating like a thin person
Start Date: Feb 2002/Maintaining since May 2004
I started out and lost 64 lbs on Atkins...but realized I was still eating way too much...

So then...I swiched to eating like a thin person...which has proven very helpful and beneficial to me. I have been able to add in more fruits and starchier veggies since doing this-and have dropped from a size 4 to a size 2 since starting to do this...this is when I started slimming down...

I have no clue what I weigh...I stopped weighing myself and decided just to go by how my jeans fit...if they get too tight-then I know I'm not eating like a thin person...

And the best part? I'M NOT STARVING!!!!!!

Dyan

PS On another note-I stopped using AS and started using the real stuff once in awhile...hasn't affected me at all. But I am aware I can't eat sugar every day of the week so I don't...

I started low carb with Atkins after being very sick and getting worse on low calorie. Lost weight slowly but became more interested in eating quality, natural food and after reading "Natural Health and Weight Lose", I switched to that.

I have zero interest in 'climbing the carb ladder'. No grains, few fruit.
I suspect that I'm both gluten and lactose intolerant.
Have been at the same weight for 5 months without hardly trying

I have tried many diets and have chosen Adkins to be my new lifestyle. For me, carbs are the enemy. They make me feel very bloated and gassy and sluggish. It just works for me. I feel great and my tummy feels flat and no "tooting" for me!! YAY!!!

I lost my weight by having gastric bypass. Now, I strive to maintain my loss with a low carb eating plan. I don't do "Atkins" or "Protein Power" per se, but just try to watch my calorie and carb intake.

Several years ago I lost a significant amount of weight through Weight Watchers. I never reached my goal weight and then gained some back. About a year and a half ago I went on the Scarsdale Diet. I lost the rest of my weight rather quickly for the first time in my life have been able to keep it off for over 1 year. I still follow the Scarsdale diet guidelines.

I lost before I really had a plan or fully understood I was doing low-carb. Well, that's not exactly true; I was following what now strikes me as a very loose plan outlined in The Thyroid Diet -- once I began changing from my previously carbcentric diet and saw weight coming off it was easy to cut the carbs back more. I was around goal when I started reading more about low-carb and joined this board and got really conscious of what I was doing and why. After I read Protein Power I really liked it and now I basically follow that, especially in terms of meeting a protein goal for each meal -- the carbs I just keep generally low now but don't count. I am also very conscious of and mostly try to follow "The Primal Blueprint" (Mark's Daily Apple).

That's so funny to me! I had almost the same conversation with my
twin sister yesterday! Once I get to my goal I'm going to eat like
this forever for those very reasons plus my blood test always seem
their best on this way of eating.

I realize that I'm not at the maintainace point yet but I
love to come read the post of the people who are. It's
more motivating than reading post by people like me who
are struggling to lose the last 30 pounds still! Reading
these posts has made me know that losing is easier by
far than maintaining is going to be. I won't go into it with
a false assumption that I'm through. Thanks to you all for that.
