Do Holidays Have to Equal Weight Gain?

Good morning! I just got back from visiting our new grandson and our 2 other granddaughters and when I got on the scale I actually lost a couple of lbs! My daughter and son-in-law are definitely not low carb so I switched to a low fat (just easier among the non-informed) and avoided the sugar. Now I'm back to my "normal diet", my wife did gain but I'm sure she'll be back on track next week. Hope you guys can make it through the times we don't have control over the kitchen!

Hey, Rick...thanks for the encouragement! The same thing happened to me a few months ago when I went to Canada to take my Mom home. In fact...I had a little bit of a slip up in our hotel room in Sault St Marie...let's just say it involved pizza and beer . Anyway...despite my "not perfect" away from home eating....I actually lost a couple of pounds over the two weeks. It was a VERY pleasant surprise.

I'm hoping for the same kind of good luck when we leave for our vacation in a couple of weeks. We will be camping and hoteling it and I'm a little concerned about sticking to my LC WOE especially while on the road. Again...thanks for the positive post!

Your Mom lives in the Soo? You may have noticed that where I live. Did you grow up here?

No, actually...my Mom lives in Toronto. But, I grew up in Thunder Bay and after we dropped my Mom off, we took the LONG way home so that I could revisit my childhood home. I noticed that you were in the Soo. We sure enjoyed our stay there.

After a long weekend in Vermont, I felt a little out of control yesterday. I'm back on track today and totally disciplined! I'll see what the scale says tomorrow and face the music. yuk!
