My journey into maintaining without a scale
So I started the thread asking who maintains without a scale and I came to the conclusion that I will share my experience trying to go scaleless.
Some of you may think that I am crazy and in fact I have my own fears about this but because of my unhealthy bondage to the scale god I am going to give this a try. My plan is to stay a comfy size 8, exercise, and eat right. I will post the ups and downs and if I break down and get on the scale I will post that also. I plan on using my pants as a guide and when they are too tight I know I will need to cut back. Anyone who wants to join in is quite welcome. This week I feel very positive about my body and food. My sister's and I went to Talbot's on Monday and I got two very form fitting and cute tops. I was very happy with my purchase and I felt so good about my weight loss because for so very long I could not buy clothes that I desired. I had to buy clothes that hid (at least I thought). I have a closet full of cute jeans, pants and capri's and it is very nice to stay the same size from season to season.

Hello! Though I'm no way near maintaining...I'm taking the same approach. I would like to stay scaleless throughout Induction. It's always good to know what you have lost at the end of the 14 day period. Once I go on to OWL, I really couldn't care much about what the scale says. I will use my pants as my measuring tool as well. Keep me posted and I will do the same

This is the way I have maintained for a year. It requires a great deal of unvarnished truth-telling to one's self....and it can be difficult at times, but you can be successful. Just be aware! |

Thanks everyone!
Georgene**I will be aware of how my pants are fitting before they get too tight and thank you for the reminder. It is very motivating to me that you have been successful maintaining this way. You said it requires a great deal of truth telling to one's self and I have to say that scares me but I am wanting to get a healthier relationship with my body and I am hoping that I am going down the right path! Godsbeloved**Keep us posted on how you do after induction and good luck! |

Hi all, I think scaleless is a great idea. I am currently in TOPS and only weigh at meetings even though I have a scale here at home. I used to drive myself nuts with the numbers. I know what it feels like in my clothes and how I look in the mirror.
I am currently maintaining at around 167-173 and I am 5'6". I had some fitness testing done at my "Y" in the past few weeks and my body fat is around 26%. I am in a size 10-12 depending on brand and cut which I am quite pleased. Homestretch, how tall are you?
