Dark chocolate and polyphenols.
Does anybody else eat a small amount of very dark chocolate daily for the polyphenol it contains? Yes, of course I eat berries too, but I tell myself why not eat chocolate daily to curb that craving. Also, it has some health benefits. Should I, shouldn't I? It doesn't make my bloodsugar spike, I'm pretty sure. I just want to know what others thought on this. The chocolate is 70%. I eat a small square.

I don't know anything about polyphenols, but I do eat a square or two of 85% chocolate everyday. It keeps me sane. It's all I need to satisfy any sweet cravings I have and it seems to unwind me every evening.I have a piece or two with my evening coffee and I feel completely satisfied. And that satisfaction is what has kept me doing this w.o.e.

Lindt makes it and even Hershey. I have found it here at Walmart and Sears.
Lindt alao makes 99% which I have often as well. The 99% does take a little getting use to. |

Mmmmmmm, I need to check that out. I find the chocolate keeps me sane as well. Since dark is so RICH, I can only eat a little bit at a time. So, I can't over indulge. I love it! ![]() |

I also eat 85% pretty much every day. I figure it's healthy, but mostly delicious and really hits the spot. I get Lindt 85% at Walgreens and Ghirardelli 86% at Target, and often find Green and Black organic chocolate (is it 87% I think?) in various places too.

Hi,
I eat a lot of chocolate every day. Usually Lindt 80%, or some diabetic sugar-free ones that says "10g of carbs per 50g". I usually end up eating 30-50 g per day. Hasn't affected my weight,so far, quite the contrary, keeps me from other sweets. Cheers, F. Oh, and Lindt 70% with hazelnuts is pretty low in carbs too. |

I think real 85% chocolate a healthy food (in very small portions). I think sugar-free chocolates are a frankenfood, and wouldn't touch them.

I use the Hersheys unsweetened dark, the baking kind, and add it to 2-4 oz of cream cheese when im hungry for a cheese cake. It tastes delicious, but it didn't mention the percentages. Just has the logo on it for the health benefit, and it says the antioxidants in it are lowered since it was dutch processed.
