Question for all you LOSERS..
So, I'm just a little crazy and I've decided that I shouldn't be so obsessed with the scale.
I'm changing my mindset to it's going to be months/years not days/weeks to change into a non-obese person. But, like I said, I'm task oriented so I'm going to replace weighing everyday (or more) to just seeing if I'm in ketosis. My question to all you LOSERS is this: Did you find you were losing if you maintained some level of ketosis or did you have to be in the 'large or dark purple" range? I need some other assurance besides the number on a scale that I'm doing the Atkins WOE "well" and "right". TIA |

I've never used the ketosis sticks but I will tell you this: it took me 2 weeks to get into full-blown ketosis but during those 2 weeks, I still lost weight. So I don't think you have to truly be in ketosis to lose weight. I know some people who have never ever experienced the suppressed appetite & they still lost weight/inches. If you don't want to be scale-obsessive, I would say-grab a pair of jeans that might be a little tight & try them on every week. That will also be a good indicator of success.

Never did use the ketone strips.
You could try weighing in just once a week instead of daily. Make a chart of your progress, see how your clothes are fitting and how well you feel. Best wishes for success. Be patient with yourself. |

I measured my ketones maybe for a week. However, I have consistently lost since May. I have stayed the same once and gained once since then. I have a scale at home but I have only stepped on it a couple of times in that same time frame. I weigh weekly at my TOPS meeting (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).

I did not find ketosis to be a good measure of anything, but YMMV. I still weigh daily but I try not to worry much about the daily weight. I look more closely at the weekly average to make sure the trend is where I want it.
I agree with the poster who suggested "test jeans" as the best measure of all! DG |

I stopped measuring ketosis after the third week of induction. You don't have to be in ketosis to lose weight, and you certainly don't have to be in ketosis to maintain. The best way to tell if you're doing it right is by how much weight you're losing. Even better, by how your clothes are fitting and how you feel.
