What is your deciding factor when you return to Induction

for a few days, a week, two weeks, etc.-after you've reached maintenance?

Is it to possibly lose weight you might have gained?

Is it to get your appetite back under control?

Is it to feel better?

What really makes you decide to follow Induction again for awhile?

Thanks for the thread, this is an excellent question!

I returned to induction yesterday because of weight gain. And, I
have eaten totally low carb and on plan! Apparently my portions
are not ok, and have led to some gain. I also think I have become
lazy with watching my carbs with nuts, so for the first time in ages
I gave up all the yummies I had added in over time: oatmeal,
almond butter, ezekial bread, apple, blueberries, strawberries, greek yogurt.
I was also eating 1/2 a lara bar each day. So.....nothing overtly off plan,
but obviously too many carbs. (I wasn't eating all of these every day btw!)

I had a slight headache last night, but am doing ok so far.

A side question- I wonder if have 1/2 flax muffin in the morning is ok
to keep myself regular?

Bella, I sat at zero carbs yesterday just to get my appetite back under control. So I ate nothing but eggs cooked in bacon grease along with some bacon. That's what I ate all day long.

Due to me eating higher fat, I had no problems staying regular.

You could always try to eat more fat if you're not too sure about eating 1/2 a flax muffin.

Dyan,
I ran a search and found that on induction you can have 2T of flax daily, so I think my 1/2 muffin would fit into that. But I suppose the truth will be with the scale!

WOE: atkins induction again
Start Date: april 26,2008
Mine would be out of control appetite .....also clothes start fitting differently... I have more energy when doing induction I don't feel tired especially when getting up in the morning if I eat carbs I can't hardly get out of bed I feel so tired ....for the past week off and on I have been eating low carb and then messing it up in the evening with dairy queen blizzards and went to the movies and had buttered popcorn and a whole bag of reeses pieces and still wanted more candy ... I have lost all the weight I needed to I am 118 and was 142 when started .....but I just need to learn to maintain it .I know this sounds silly but I tried on a pair of jeans last week from my closet and they were way to loose and then it was like I was thinking oh these are too big now I can eat and that is when I started slacking on lowcarb ..Tomorrow I am doing induction again as long as I am strict I am ok on it but one bite of sugar and off I go like a crazy woman ....yikes I need to go to sleep

I'm not sure I'd call it induction exactly, but I call it 'strict LC'. I go back to it after I've been off plan for too many days in a row and need to get my carb cravings under control. Usually after a vacation or holidays like Christmas where too many treats ended up morphing into too many carbs for too many days in a row and I'm back to craving carbs (and not being able to control the cravings) for too long.

I've usually got a few pounds to lose by then, too, but the first 2 or 3 days, I don't worry about weight loss, I just eat hardcore LC. Meat, cheese, vegetables & fats only. And I eat everytime I think about food, everytime I get hungry, so that I'm too full to think about eating off plan. After stuffing myself with chicken & cheese for a day or two, I have control of my appetite again and can start cutting back to eating regular portions and trying to lose the few extra pounds.

When I have gained weight and felt like crap long enough - time to re-induct and get with the program.
A few days into induction I always ask myself what was I thinking eating all that crap when eating clean feels so much better!

Going back to Induction has made me realize that I feel better on less carbs-not more carbs. I know I can easily maintain on 45 g of carbs per day but honestly-once I hit 35 g of carbs when I started raising my carb levels back up-the cravings kicked in. I could eat fruit - like berries - with protein & fat and still have cravings. I actually knocked myself down to almost zero carbs (if you count the carbs in eggs-which I never do) and decided to do that till Friday just to get cravings and appetite under control. And I feel soooooooo much better than when I was eating 35 g.

I got tired of being in-between sizes. One size too big. One size too small. I'm not willing to gain weight to fit into the bigger size. So the only choice I had was to lose to get into the smaller size. That was another deciding factor for me.
