I'm not maintance yet, but got a question

I haven't read the article yet BTW. My Mom called me last night to tell me that there is an article from the American Heart Assoc. (I hear the groans ) Anyway, it was saying that when you hit maintance doing Atkins that is when your triglyerides shoot up. I was just wondering if any of you have had that problem or have your triglyceride levels been good? Instead of blindly believing that article, I thought I'd ask here. Thanks!

Hi Jenn - I've been maintaining for 4 years, and my triglycerides are 73 (just tested last month). Anything under 150 is considered healthy.

I will report very good triglygerides since I have been on the lc woe( started in 2000).

Down one time to 27, currently 37 this past July, rarely over 50.

I think that taking fish oil omega 3 helps to lower them also.

Thanks! I was pretty sure maintanance wasn't going to increase triglycerides but this seemed like a good place to ask!

the blood triglyceride changes at maintnenace would depend on if they were still eating Atkins maintnenace or went back to high carb eating.
triglycerides are just a fancy name for fats in the body. Dr Atkins states in the absences of carbs the body burns triglycerides for fuel so even in maintnenace Atkineers are buring triglycerides for fuel most of the time but high carb jumped of the Atkins eating plan goalies are not so their levels will go up.
