WOE: Intuitive Eating
My Peanut Butter

For better or for worse, both a blessing to me and a curse...

I have chosen to incorporate PB back into my woe.

I am bound and determined not to eat it from a spoon, at all costs.
I will not abuse it; I will not binge on it; I will eat it and savor it.
That's that!

I have been thinking about having some for days now, and the thought would not leave my mind.

It is the only food I want sometimes and without it, I feel restricted.

It has become a food I love.
It is good, healthy, LC calories, if eaten in moderation.

I just don't want to be without it in my diet.
I am strong enough to be able to moderate the foods I choose to eat.

I am really trying hard to apply intuitive eating to my LC days.
It is what I must do to better my relationship with food.

I will be successful at eating only healthy, LC foods, while honoring my hunger and respecting my fullness.

*Mindset, Moderation, and Balance.*

All will be well!

I will eat it, enjoy it and not have too much of it.

Hey Rebecca,

I hope you can successfully incorporate it back into your diet. Only you will know with time whether you can moderate it!

Rebecca- Don't be mad at me for saying this.......but I don't think it is a good idea. I think you are probably going through withdrawel right now, so you think you can't live with out it....that's the addiction talking.

Just a suggestion to think about. What if you made a committment to not eat it for a month, then after that month, if you want to try to give it another go with eating it sensibly, give it a try then. If you still can't at that time, then I would just give it up.

Liza, I could never be mad at you! Thank you for your honesty.

I've eaten 1 C already today.

I'll name tomorrow, October 20, my first day of abstinence.

Sadly, I CANNOT eat PB in any kind of moderation.

So, it's back to being eliminated!!!

Well that's what I was thinking (about needing to abstain) but wanted to be supportive
I would say Rebecca you were negotiating.....

Rebecca -

I have watched you struggle with this for a long time. I honestly don't know what to say other than I hope that you are able to find peace with this.

Thanks to all of you, my friends!

I just get these strong cravings and then this intense desire to try (again and again) to have the ability to moderate it.

But, unfortunately, history repeats itself and I just absolutely cannot eat PB, in reasonable amounts.

I guess I should have known that the only true peace I'll find with foods is through abstinence from PB (and sugar).

Both Gullo and Atkins knew what they were talking about all along when it comes to real food addictions...
The only way to manage them is through abstinence.

Enough said.

No more PB.
No more sugar.

i am the same way with PB- i cannot have it without sticking spoonfuls in my mouth after a taste of it. i have tried homemade almond butter and sunflower seed butter as substitutes and have found that i don't 'gorge' on them like i do peanut butter. i also have to stay away from macadamia nuts if not in a controlled portion.

There is no denial here...you are addicted to peanut butter. Bummer, I know. You are not alone; I have lots of food addictions too; I won't even try peanut butter, because I KNOW I would be addicted...I find it much easier to just stay away from it. I feel for you Rebecca, but I also know YOU ARE strong enough to break the addiction. We are here to support you.

We share the addiction.
I feel your pain.

I have tried all of the other nut butters, and I binge on them, too.
For me, it's something with the richness, creaminess, natural sweetness, and the fullness that I get from lots of those calories...

Thanks, so much.

Today will be the first of my PB-free days.

When I need something to fill that void, or have that soothing comfort from food, I'll have warmed pumpkin with spice blend Davinci's.
Of all the substitutions I've tried (and I've tried many), that seems to give me the closest pleasure--with way less calories...

All of your support means a very lot to me.

This reminds me that we need to have a substitute for an addiction- so having a plan is essential!

You are right!! I need to find a substitute for my cream cheese addiction. I have made it through 9 days w/o it but I am still craving it.

Down with Peanut Butter and Cream Cheese. This is what you are both going to look like if you keep eating it!

You girls are the best!!!
Thank you, so much, for your support and encouragement.

The above posts sure came in handy for me all afternoon today when I fought hard against cravings and thoughts of PB.

The monster remains in the closet, hopefully forever!

Wow. Great job!

Thanks to all of you!

I feel pretty good, and I will not eat PB!

I did buy sunflower seed butter from Trader Joe's, just this evening.

I did this because I want Conrad (my 4 1/2 year old) to be able to enjoy "PB&J" w/o eating the Smuckers uncrustables (crap) I've been buying him.

(I also really wanted to try it.)

It does contain a small amount of sugar, in the form of evaporated can juice.
But, since I'm working hard to do well with the balance and moderation mentality, it's fine...
I had about 1T (after dinner). It tasted very sweet to me. Yummy, but almost too sweet.

At 101, 1T here or there will not hurt me.
