I don't know why I am maintaining. I am not even working out. Nor am I eating well. I guess I am too busy to think about this stuff. |

fischdeb1,
I have had a procedure done on one breast some years ago, so I know what you are going through. Nothing tranquilizes us until the test results come back, I know, but you are not alone. Sending you many positive vibes!!! F. |

I miss having a greyhound and who knows - maybe another day.We just have too many dogs right now. We have a rescued mutt and a rescued beagle plus two german shepherds - one of them is my husbands trial dog. I love them all dearly and of course they all have homes for life - it could be no other way here! But life was easier back in the days when we had two! DG

117.6 this morning. That's three pounds down in the two weeks we've been home. Just one pound above my pre-Christmas weight now

119.2 this morning -- not too thrilled about that. I keep finding myself hungry late at night, and night snacking always does have an effect on my weight.

I've just noticed Loretta, that we're about the same size. I'm 5'2 and 117.6 this morning. I've been maintaining for nearly six years, so not quite as long as you.

123... so not happy but I have myself to blame. I have been eating a TON of nuts. Today I am really going to be accountable and not go overboard.

Bah. 149 this morning. Not happy with this! Like a few others I've been suffering from snackitis and definitely not eating the RIGHT snacks. For whatever reason I CANNOT control myself around peanuts or peanut butter so the last of both went out in the trash this morning. (not too much food was wasted however, due to my portion control issues with these!)
Here is to a clean eating time until I'm back under 147 again. Congratulations to all who had a Happy Weigh In!!! Can't wait to be right back with ya. DG |

Yeah, me too and the nuts lately. However, TOM arrived today and I think my higher weight may be related to that. It was up to 120 today and I know I didn't eat in a way yesterday that would cause a pound increase. Well, that's my story and I'm sticking to it for the next few days anyway!

DG and Prairie,
I can't begin to tell you how many times in the last 2 years I have given up nuts and almond butter! I now am allowing myself 1 serving of AB per day and try to stay away from grabbing the nuts ![]() Bella |

Here's what I'm struggling with, though -- it's 9 or 10 at night, I've had the regular things I typically eat in the course of the day, and I'm hungry (and often busy working on class preparation). What to eat, if not nuts? Cheese is calorie dense too, and I've generally already had one or two servings of dairy and feel like it would be better not to OD on it (which also affects cottage cheese and Greek yogurt, things I love). Fruit is carby enough that I try to "budget" it, and everyone's always saying eat it with fat (so, PB or cheese). Meat is pricey and a job to prepare, so when I make it I try to stretch it to last for several dinners and don't want to use it up for snacks -- and I prefer not to eat many cold cuts. I often snack on a raw carrot with blue cheese dressing, but often I've done that already in the day. What am I not thinking of that would be quick, filling, and truly healthy to eat??

Prairie, my advice is probably not the best as I'm no "long termer" at maintenance unless almost 2 months is long term LOL! But I can relate to the "what to snack on" question for all the reasons you mentioned.
Before I got way to liberal with those peanuts, I had better success with a mix of sunflower and pumpkin seeds as one option. I get them raw and add a little sea salt. Now I just need to remember my own suggestion when the Nut Craving Monster starts chasing me! Peanut Problems aside, I often "save" my Bark allowance for bed time. I should probably forgo the bed time snack habit, but I've done OK with my Bark then so I suppose I'll keep after that for now. Dang peanuts..... ![]() DG |

Thanks Loretta! That's my husband of 30 years.
I usually go on The Scarsdale Diet for 1 day if my weight is up. I don't like it going up at all, but I do know there is 3 pound fluctuation. When my weight goes up even just 1 pound, it effects my mood. I know that's sick! Deb |

Prairieproof, I have discovered that coffee is the ultimate solution when it comes to hunger at night time. For some reason, it suppresses my appetite. Also, the other thing I have recently discovered that is helping me-making my biggest meal of the day the evening meal. I know it goes against the breakfast like a king, lunch like a queen, dinner like a prince on a budget but when I do my biggest meal in the evening, I have no urge to snack & no hunger and am able to finally stop eating with no problem. I still drink a cup of coffee (sometimes black, sometimes with some almond milk or silk creamer in it)-and this seems to have really helped me. I struggled forever Until I started making my biggest meal the evening meal-and it's usually a 3 egg omelet with meat & veggies wrapped in it.

Well, my evening meal is already my biggest -- I know it would probably help me to eat even more than I do then. I totally agree about coffee, and use it as an appetite suppressant in the mid-morning or afternoon sometimes, but it's not an option for the late evening (also doesn't appeal to me then).
After I posted, I thought that perhaps keeping some hard-boiled eggs in the fridge would be an option -- even though I've often already had 2 eggs in the day. |

I keep deviled eggs in the fridge because they are just so easy to grab to eat. And even in maintenance-I still eat a lot of eggs.
