I promise to weigh in this Friday. I have been in our Devon home all month and I know that I have been overindulging.

It wont be pretty but it will be honest.

Congrats to the rest of you, and great work Fitterly.

Today I am 120 on the dot. This week I have weighed daily and I have been 119.8-120.2. I am pleased. I think not being at work since before Christmas is helping. I am much busier at home and not thinking about food as much. Enjoy the weekend and Happy New Year!

Thanks for nice words everyone! I look forward to this maintenance crew! Did everyone have fun and indulge? Back to work soon!

118.6 today, 117.6 yesterday; either is fine really, especially since I'm with my parents and not able to do real gym workouts. Also hungry too often from my mom's largely low-fat cooking, which leads to raids on the nuts and almond butter! We haven't had any real celebrations this year though, so outside of a glass or two of wine over the past few days I haven't consumed anything out of the ordinary for me.

131, it's not 129, which was my lowest last week sometime, but that was only for just 1 day---go figure! My range is 131-133. I'm thinking maybe in early spring I'll try to change my range from128-131. We'll see! I'm a little concerned about my snacking urges. They seem to be creeping back. It seems that I find pleasure in eating snacks at certain times during the day. I've been doing OK, but I feel the old urges creeping back. The snacks that I'm talking about is nothing terrible, almonds, South Beach Cereal bars and whole wheat pretzels. But even these snacks have to be controlled. Advice anyone?

141 today.

Deb, nuts and bars were my downfall last year and I gained 12 lbs! So I would be very careful! Once I lost the weight again, I did reintroduce almond butter (no more than 1 serving per day max) but no almonds and only an occassional bar. I was eating one daily.

I would steer clear of the pretzels before anything else! I used to mainline pretzels before LC, now I wouldn't touch them. Even if they're described as whole wheat, that's probably just a touch of the whole in otherwise plain old refined flour -- straight empty carbs. Almonds are at least nutritious (I don't eat bars so I can't comment on that).

Hi everyone. Wow - what an impressive group! I know I will need good support as I make the transition into long term maintenance, and avoid the "yo-yo" syndrome which is in my history. I have been within my goal weight range of 145-150 every day since 12/4, so I guess it's official.

Today was 147.2. I'm very happy with that considering the holidays. I managed to keep my mitts off of the "illegal" foods (real sugar, breads, high carb whatevers). But part of my ability to do that was having an over-abundance of "legal" low carb sweet treats around. (LOL, for me and over-abundance = more than 1 serving on any given day it seems!) So I feel a bit lucky and I know I can't continue the over-abundance thing into the new year.

One my my goals this year is to shift my thinking WAY further into the "food is nutrition" zone, and evaluate whatever I'm about to put in my mouth on that basis. Can you help me move in that direction?? You have my undying gratitude in advance!

DG

Deb, I eat (and adore, actually) Snyder's Organic Oat Bran Pretzels.
I always eat them with cheese, and they cause me no problems.

All snacks have to be controlled, as nothing we eat is without calories &/or carbs; KWIM?

I've never believed in any "free foods."
...That said, I can eat anything these days and (as long as I am consistent in making good choices), I maintain.

Not proud of that 123 today. Can name the cause. Out with family last night celebrating the New Year. Ate some pizza, cake. Not good choices.

Rebecca, where do you purchase your Oat Bran Pretzels? Sounds like a nice occasional treat, but one to be sensible with. How many is a sensible amout per setting?

Loretta, they are Snyder's of Hanover Organic Oat Bran Pretzels.
(They're shorter, chubby, pretzel sticks).
I have found them at my local grocers, Giant (in with the healthy/organic snacks)--separate place from other pretzels & chips...

In NY, I found them at Wegman's.

For 30g or 18 pretzels, they are 120 cals/25 carb/2 fiber/3 protein.
They have 3g sugar per svg, which makes them slightly sweet and salty.

Don't know how old you are Fitterly, I am 61 and after dropping to 122 for my 60th birthday I also realised I was doing myself no favours.

I have been a little heavier than I like for a while but I look better this side of my 'ideal' weight than the other side.

Each of us finds the best options for maintaining, personally I add more vegetables, often cooked with fats.

I was having the same problem a while ago. While I was being very good, I kept losing. It was getting me a little worried. I've added more food while carefully monitoring my weight. I've been stable now for several months. 131-133. I've added more fruit and veggies, wheat pretzels and almonds. But I recently stopped the pretzels and almonds because I started to feel the old cravings again. It really is hard to maintain!

Bella--I started officially at 165 a few years ago... then I lost with regular diet and hit 140. Then I did Atkins and hit 125 rather readily. The last 10 pounds are hard to get off, but once they come off, more pounds usually come with it.

Fiscshdeb, you couldn't have said it better. Almonds and cashews are a part of my maint diet. I cannot start with the snacky foods because I worry about a pattern. Fruit is a great idea and will help my immune system. I'll experiment.

THANKS! :-)

Hi, Everyone!!!
Hope you had wonderful holidays, as I did.
I ate everything I wanted ( really, wine, sweets... portion
control was my enemy :-) ), and managed to put on 4 pounds
only, which surprised me. I think it is because I kept up my running
schedule (the weather and the trail was lovely).
Anyway, the weight is off now, and I am back to 133 very quickly,
I think mostly was water retention.
Welcome Fitterly, and I agree totally with you fischdeb1, learning to
maintain is REALLY hard, it can spiral out of control quickly. For me
running was a key point in having less fluctuation of weight, while
indulging a bit more. Maybe something related to the increased storage
of glycogen in the muscles???
Bisous!!!

F.

Hello, Fviegas. I came home yesterday after three weeks of eating pretty much everything in sight, and doing very little exercise. I was also up about four pounds this morning compared with my pre-Christmas weight. I hope most of it will be water that goes fairly quickly!

Hi everyone! I still have so much to figure out about maintenance. I feel like I'm "yo yoing" a little bit from day to day rather than making good choices consistently. Weight today was 146.8 and I've been in my range all week, which is good.

I tend to go overboard one day on "legal" treats (artificially sweetened things, nuts, etc.) then go strict the next day. That's not really how I want to do this! Well, gotta just keep working at it!

One of the things I can do to help myself is really plan out my menus for the week and shop ahead, prepare some foods ahead, etc. I've been slipping away from that a bit, and I think NOT planning contributes greatly to "random eating." We'll see how I do with that goal over the next week!
