I have been lurking around here lately. I have been at maintenance for a couple of years now. Dropping weight was always easy even falling below my goal. I am most comfortable being under 120. I was at my lowest 117 at Christmas without even trying. I exercise 5-6 days a week. Sometime in Feb my weight started to bounce around between 119-121. Lately it is 122 and today was 123.8. I am FREAKED out. I know I need to ditch the nuts and stop "grazing" through out the day. I don't really want to go back to induction because I don't want to give up my AM yogurt but I feel my appetite is through the roof. I am always hungry (or just wanting to eat I think). I need to ditch the nuts and stop taking a bite here and a bite there. It is all starting to add up. While LCing, I have never gained so much. I am pretty bummed. I figured if I post, it may make me more accountable. I have enjoyed following the posts here.

Hi Alison,
I just recently returned to induction and I have to share that I have had no cravings at all. I also gave up my morning greek yogurt, nuts, and almond butter but I have lost 8 lbs and am now back to below goal. I feel so much better! I know you will too It is great to get a handle on things before they spiral out of control.Bella |

Hi Alison Jean and Congrats on your weight loss and maintaining for several years.
You seem to know how to control your weight with your plan of giving up some of your foods. Give your self a month or so to get things back on the right track. Unexplained weight gain has occured several times for me but I have not gone 5 pounds over goal weight so far. Wishing you success. Hang in there. |

Hi, Ladies!!
Allison Jean, congratulations on maintaining your weight for so long!! Any maintenance tips for the rest of us?I injured myself biking last weekend and have been at rest since. It's getting better, but I had a really hard painful week ...I'm hoping to walk normally next week, now I just limp around in pain. I've been forcing myself to eat a lot of protein and fat, to see if the injury heals quicker. Since there are a lot of exercisers here, any tips on healing will be welcomed!! This morning I weigh 137 pounds. Cheers, Florbela |

G'Morning Gals!
Bella Congratulaions on getting back to "below" goal weight! Are you continuing with induction? or going back to Maingtenance with some tweaks? Alison Jean, I just joined the weigh-in recently too. I love Loretta's advice Florbela I am really sorry to hear about your injury!! I have been dealing with a foot injury for over a year. My best advice is to continue to rest it. It is hard mentally .. but is really the right thing to do so you heal properly. I hope you feel better soon! PaulineAs far as me, I have been entirely on track this week and I'm feeling good ... maintenance is easy when I'm at home, lol!!! Me today: Jun Ave ... 132.00 Jul Ave ... 131.75 Aug 01 ... 128.75 Aug 08 ... 130.00 |

Well, I weighed today and it is not down. I weigh daily and this week it has been bouncing 122 and 123. I did not really expect it to be down. This week is my week where I don't take any BC pills and my weight is always higher at this time of the month. I have drastically cut my nut & PB consumption so I will see in time if that makes a difference. I am just going to keep on eating clean and exercising.
Thanks for the warm welcome. ![]() |

118.4 this morning (goal range 116-119). I think my real weight is lower, as I've been having some, er, bathroom issues the past few days.
I had some nasty periodontal surgery a couple of days ago too and am on antibiotics. Just wondering whether any of you have found that having any impact on weight? Yes, I'm taking a probiotic. |

Not necessarily antibiotics, but I tend to hang on to a couple of pounds or so of water if I have any kind of infection, allergies, a cold, or anything along those lines. It could be the surgery rather than the antibiotics. In any case I wouldn't put too much credence in the numbers while you're still recovering from it.

After a week of vacation, I'm at 124.9. Actually, I credit Charles Washington over at the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb Discussion place, and his Zero Carb Path. It seems to do wonders at controlling my weight and appetite.

Good morning!
I have lost 11 lbs on induction- I was having a problem with my scale and it turned out it was WAY off and I had gained to 156! (which is over my original goal). I was so upset. But I am now at 145, below goal, and I think I am aiming for 135-140. So I guess I am still on induction but I am thinking of starting to add back in, maybe on Monday with greek yogurt and see if I continue to lose. I could maintain where I am, I feel great, but I think a little less would be good. Bella

Florabela hope you heal quickly and can get back on track with your exercise. Congrats on that 137.
Ailuos good job on that 116.6. TaDa: Quote:
Prairie those antibiotics are probably the cause for your bathroom issues. You probably have had some difficulties eating also. Hope things clear up for you. Alison some medicines sure can affect our weight that and our normal cycle. Even though I am past menopause I wonder if some residual hormones cause an extra pound or two for me sometimes. Stargazey I went to the Livin' La Vida Low-Carb web site and started to search around over there. Interesting, thanks for the web site. Bella have you gotten a new scale. I am wondering how you found out that your scale was defective. Congrats you are really shedding the pounds. Missing Cindy. Will bbtomorrow with my weight. Have a good weekend.

No, my dh discovered that his weight was light so checked it and we realized the scale wasn't working.....I knew it, my clothes were getting tight. It's amazing how we can squeeze into the same clothes!

ooh Nice Ailuros!!!!
My weight is down this week - and not intentionally. Last week I decided not to weigh until Friday morning and with that, I decided that if my weight went down under goal range, that was just fine since I have a vacation to Mexico a week from today. I plan to do the same this coming week, so my weight may go down a bit more. When I get back from vacation and sort out any vacation bloat etc, I am going to have to tweak what I do, add some food, take out some exercise so I can stay in goal range. Goal Range: 130-135 Me today: Jun Ave ... 132.00 Jul Ave ... 131.75 Aug 01 ... 128.75 Aug 08 ... 130.00 Aug 15 ... 128.00 |

Well, my weight has been better but today and most of this week it is 121. There are things I need to cut out (nuts mainly) but I have not yet but I have cut way down on them. I also have not cut out my daily yogurt. I ate it the entire time I was losing so I rationalize with myself that yogurt is not the problem.
I am trying to come to terms with 121 and just be happy there. I workout regularly but in the last 6 months, my regular daily activities have been cut back. I went from working upstairs (going up and down all day 3 days a week) and having to walk a couple of blocks from a parking structure to the office to working downstairs and parking next to the office building. I am wondering if that is contributing to the couple extra lbs. If so, I am not willing to do more at the gym. Anyhow, Happy Friday to all. |

Hi ladies I am back from a wonderful vacation with my DD in Cyprus.
Horrors on the scale this morning though, 137. I am thoroughly ashamed of myself and am on strict induction. Hope I can do as well as you Bella, wow, 11 lbs is amazing. You are all doing so well I feel humbled and strengthened. Thank you. |

116.2 this morning (range 116-119) -- I bet it will bounce up tomorrow as it seems my body resists staying that low. (With my body fat at 17.9% based on weighing 120--just had it re-checked by my trainer at the gym last week--that doesn't seem surprising.)
The very sad news is that I had to put my beloved cat Quinn to sleep yesterday. (For those who are new here, he was diagnosed with cancer early in the summer.) He did well through July but had been slipping this month and stopped eating. So I've probably been eating a bit less than usual too, and feel worn out from weeks of hypervigilance about him; it is a relief to be able to stop worrying. Cindy not to worry, just go back on induction for a few weeks and the weight will come right off. Same thing happened to me....the lbs just crept up. But it sounds like you might want to take some action now?
I weighed in at 141. Not my lowest, but I am adjusting my permanent range from 135-140 so Im almost at the top of that. Progress! Bella |

So right Bella, today is the day!
Prarie I am so sorry to hear about your cat, Quinn. I know what you mean about the relief of not worrying but the next weeks will be very hard. I am sure you did all you could for him and can now try to remember all the good times. How old was he? |

Thanks Kissa and Bella. Quinn was 12, but showing no signs of aging, so I felt like he should have had years left. I am trying to gather up my countless happy memories. Fortunately I'm not left "petless." My other--and extremely affectionate--cat, Carey, is the same age, but she's doing great following thyroid surgery last week (her hyperthyroidism was getting too bad to control with medication any longer) and will hopefully keep going for a good long time.
Meanwhile, I am planning to adopt my first dog at the end of the month, a retired racing greyhound. This has been something I've wanted to do for a while, but to my surprise I met "the one" a couple of weeks ago -- I thought I was just visiting the adoption kennel to ask some questions, but...! I know the timing is a little odd, but because of the academic cycle it's do it now or wait until next May. Going to be a huge life change! |

Good job on the maintaining Gals. WTG This is an awesome bunch.
Prairie sorry about Quinn. I know you will miss him. But it sounds like you are ready for another challange with the Gray hound. Sure hope that Carey will like her new companion. Cindy welcome back from vacation. Once you get back in your routine and start to eating in your regular pattern you will be fine. Glad to hear that you had a nice vacation in Cyprus. WOW neat!! Did you happen to get some pics? I like your avitar flower Bella. Congrats on your Progress!!!! Ailuros I liked your posting on the body % fat range. You sure are right where you belong. Ta Da good idea of getting a head start on your vacation and getting that weight lower before you start. Have a nice trip. Bring back vanilla. Alison your such a nice height for that 121. Wish I could grow upward instead of outward. BBSunday with my weight. |

I understand that retired greyhounds make wonderful pets, you are doing him/her such a favour and I know you will be repaid thousand fold.

Loretta, I find it helps me to look at the BF% from time to time to remind me that I don't need to weigh 110. It's strange. I'm happy with the way I look at this weight, but part of my just wants to see a number that's less than 8 stones (112). I need to remind myself sometimes that where I am is fine.
