ladies! Im still "shakin" it. I usually have just one a day for breakfast. Im in the minority and actually like the new Atkins shakes I have been fighting to get out of the 140s since February but Im totally committed again and have hope to reach my goal FINALLY before the end of the year! I think my bod got used to my eating the same cals and doing the same exercise day after day. SOOO my new strategy is to mix it up a bit. I really hope the cal cycling will make a difference ![]() Congrats Deb on your awesome progress!!!! You are where I want to be KUTGW ![]()

This thread is SO intriguing to me!! Last night, I had one of the worst stomach episodes of my life, something that happens when I eat pasta and/or bread. I literally could not stand up straight and my stomach was so bloated outwards it was painful to even move. I KNOW what is causing it, but yet, I still eat bread and stuff because I like the taste. Well guess what?? I like being able to walk and not feel like total s*%&!!! Soooo, I am back on low carb. It truly is the only time my stomach isn't in agony. There are some not so pleasant side effects for me (light headedness, headaches, irritablility, etc), but I know those will subside in a few days. I am going to try out this plan as a jumping off point and see what happens.
Congrats on all of your weightlosses... I hope to join you there soon =0) Last edited by amydolgos : 10-13-2008 at 10:26 AM. |

Well, dropped another pound. This is clearly the solution to my problem. It is also not hard to do. Seven pounds since 10/5/08. Drinking lots of water is the key for me. As long as I consistently drink water, I am not hungry. Should be in the sixties next week. That's exciting. I can see my face thinning out now. Anyway, if I can offer any encouragement to someone considering this as a solution, I say give it a try. I am soooooooooo pleased. It helps if you like salads!
PS. I use cabbage instead of lettuce because it is heartier.

Deb79, I went out and bought Nectar Truffles and tried it with part of your recipe, just added water and 1/2 ounce of cream per serving. The egg I may try later and may eventually get creative, but that rendition alone is fine for me. Not as thick as Atkins, but quite sufficient and tasty. Not hungry. I was afraid to switch because I was not sure if the effect would be the same, but I am "unofficially" down two more pounds, one for sure. This thread has been a life saver for me.
I received a birthday present from a friend, looked at it and thought, wow, she really blew it this time. This is way . . . way too small. I put it on and it fit with room to spare. I guess my eyes have not made the adjustment to the new me, yet. Any hoo, I'll be "shakin" it till the end, and well into maintenance, thanks to you guys. |

Two days on the shakes and down a pound each day!
I am actually using a shake (UK make) with cream and an egg. I find that sees me through the day. |

I need some Help . . .
I'm gonna ask in the Egg/Protein thread too since they have some egg cream veterans
I have some canisters of Atkins Shake mix I don't like them plain (just add water) I usually have to make it with water and cream, and added sweetener and added cocoa powder just to get it palatable. So I want to use them, and incorporate egg. I find egg creams to be a little thin, since I don't make and use ice. The Atkins shake mix OTOH is a bit thick. any suggestions on how to mesh the two in to something workable and easy. Please! ![]()

Metga,
Maybe add 1/2 a scoop to your egg cream, it'll thicken it up a bit, add some more protein too. It's been sooooooo long since I had any canisters of the Atkins shakes, I know I couldn't stand the taste of them and never finished them (many years ago). That's why I was so glad when the RTD version was nice tasting. Are you blending your shakes or just stiring? I couldn't do my shakes without blending, I like the texture. BTW, on another thread someone (I don't remember who, Bobo maybe) said he froze his cream to use in pumpkin shakes. Maybe you could freeze the cream that you use in your shakes and that would make it thicker, but not icey. Shout out and hello to Kissa and ForLife!! Congrats on the weight loss to you both! Keep up the good work! Hello Homestretch! Hello Scrappychik! Hope you're both OK!! I've not been posting much, life keeps getting in the way! I'll check in again soon!

Just play with them, starting thicker cos it is easier to thin them down. I agree you need a blender though.

Hi, new-- and have some questions...
I'm really excited to try this routine.
I can remember last year, going on tour and having to live mostly on pork rinds and Atkins Shakes. I actually *lost* ten pounds, even when I had two meals in which I "cheated" out of sheer hunger. And did a fair amount of cocktailage. So, now I think I'd like to try this again, your plan sounds a lot more doable. I do have a couple of questions: What are typical meal plans? How do you maintain once you've reached goal? Thanks for such an inspiring thread. |

I've got a blender, but I don't really know what to do with it except liquify my savory soups! I've never been good a shakes and stuff (plus usually they are fruit and sugar centric) so your advice will really help me.I like the idea of freezing the cream, that sounds wonderful. One of my problems is even if all the ingredients are cold by the time I whip it up, is only room temperature cool and not very yummy. I don't make or keep ice cause freezer space is valuable, but frozen cream is worth the space. I use frozen blueberries for summer yogurt smoothies. Maybe I could even premake the tea and freeze that into cubes. Darn it did I already donate my ice trays?![]() ![]() Lessee. so say I have frozen tea and frozen cream. I take the eggs and coconut oil and blend them together? then add some water and the Atkins powder? then the tea cubes and cream cube for the slushy cold effect? Hmm I'll, uh . . . . get back to you in a few days with the results. |

Personally I find the coconut oil makes them too grainy for me, so I don't use it in shakes but in other ways.
Hi Erica, I don't have a typical menu, any Atkins friendly food that is in the house. I do eat lots of meat/chicken/fish and veggies. Fewer salads now that it is cooler. |

It's been quiet here.
I made an egg cream today as I am out of shakes. Added some flax oil I found in the cupboard the other day...mistake. Think it was rancid and has been repeating on me all day. |

I poured one of the new atkins Choclate Royale tetra pac shakes into my blender cup, added some cream, some extra dark cocoa powder and an egg and ti was quite nice. Still a little thin, but more in line with what I was used to. The extras helped a lot!

Hi All,
Back again! My life has been getting in the way of my life. Anyway, I have consistently stayed with the shakes, I am now used to it and don't care what it tastes like, I just have it and don't really think about it any more. I changed from the Atkins shakes, to Nectar Chocolate Truffles and finished it and now am using some left over Zero Carb Isopure and it's fine too. I just put in two tablespoons of heavy cream, shake it and I'm done. I think what I like about it is that I really don't like the "feeding process", the buying, the storing, the cooking etc, so this is right up my alley, its simple, it serves the purpose and above all I can lose while on it. I had mentioned that I had lost two more pounds unofficially, in fact, I did lose the two pounds. I have not lost any more because I have been really busy and have not exercised since my last post some time in October, I believe. Anyhoo, I am going to get back into it and I suspect that this will take me to my goal weight, hopefully by year end or just a little over that. |
