I blame the hovering at 294 because I ate some atkins indulge bars, and AFTER the fact I realized they are LOADED with sugar alchols,

So as of today Im making my kids eat the rest of those indulge bars and back to my shake, shake, 2 high fat , no carb snacks, and high fat low carb dinner

I like to take my weight every morning so I can see how my dietary changes affect me, at least until I feel like I have mastered this WOE.

Love the indulge bars, but, major cravings so... I don't eat them any more.

Aim,

Lost all my weight w/ the shakes. I have a post on the main board 60 pounds/over 55 inches lost. Had to brag, as this is such a big thing for me. Getting closer to goal and never thought I'd see it!!

I used to track my weight and inches all the time, but, have let go of the obsession. Here are some of my "old" numbers. Some months I didn't lose much or at all. I fell off track a few times, but always recovered.

June 2007 202.5 Tried low fat, eliminated my sugars only.
July 9,2007 197.5 Started Atkins
August 20th 181.5
September 30th 171.5
October 30th 165
November 18th 161.5
December 23rd 154.4
Fell off track... regained a few pounds
January 2008 150.5
Feb .. Fell off track again... regained a few pounds
March 28th 147
April 8th 144.5
May 14th 139.5

So, I'm less than 5 pounds of my initial goal. Hope to lose at least 10 more pounds before my anniversary (low carb) in July.

This is the letter I posted to the Atkins website about the Shakes:

Quote:
I want to tell you that I and many of my friends are disappointed at what seems to be an attempt to change a product that we all rely on. The Atkins Ready To Drink Shakes in the Can are a staple item for many of us. They have become a regular part of our Way Of Eating, because they are convenient, they are nutritious and filling, and, most importantly, because they taste GREAT! Unfortunately, we have come across something labeled as Atkins Shakes, package in a cardboard type drink box, but tasting NOTHING like the flavors we have come to enjoy. In addition, it appears that the fat content has been reduced from 9g to 3g, and that just negates the whole point of having a product that is supposed to be satisfying and filling. If you took out the fat, then what did you replace it with?

I don't know your plans, with the RTD shakes, but I personally invest in your products regularly and have come to expect the high quality and great taste of your current line. From what I've experienced, and from the experiences of my friends, I believe it is safe to say that if you choose to change our product you will lose a lot lot of customers. Many people are already avoiding the new ones, and I wanted to let you know that if you want to keep the rest of us, you must keep the traditional formulas for the RTD shakes, even if you make the new low fat versions for other customers. We Trust You, please don't let us down.

Not yet. I'm still actually trying to get used to the idea that I'm going to reach goal. Keep expecting to get on the scale and see that I've gone up 10 or 20 pounds!! For the longest time, when someone would ask my weight, I'd often give an incorrect number. You know how people lie and say they're 120 and actually are 150? Well, I'd get stuck at an old figure, kept quoting 165, when I was 156. I seemed to be forever 10 pounds (in my brain) heavier than I was!

I am really afraid of losing control of my eating when I add new foods, so this is going to be a challenge for me (to add new foods w/o going overboard). I have had Southbeach's pizza this week and that was my one time only this week journey into grain consumption. I beefed it up with a little extra oregano and some additional Asiago cheese (delicious!) to get past my craving for pizza. I thought I'd end up with some water retention the next day, but luckily, no gain. I think because I was really aware of my whole days level of carbs, calories, etc., I stayed at a good level.

For me, portion control will always have to be a consideration, as I tend to be a binge eater and stress eater. Trying very hard to get a grip on both and not fall into old traps!

Have a good night everyone, I'm off to bed. As I post this, it's about 1:30 a.m. and I'm exhausted! Still can't get used to my late work hours.

Hmmmm what is helping me is taking my blood sugar test every other morning. Took a friend to lunch and the restaurant offered these jumbo muffins well I had taken my blood sugar that morning and while lower than it has been it was not low enough I dont want to take meds that motivates me not to eat the muffin. I was going to leave it there but my friend took it home and I even had to watch her eat hers .

Jeez... How tired must I have been? I answered Aim's post!!

Aim, BTW Maybe the weight you're at is what they used to call the "set point". A level that the body naturally stabilizes at.

I know that for myself, even though I have a weight in mind for myself, most likely my body is going to fight getting there, that is why I chose 135, since I know that prior to getting very large, it used to be a maintainable weight for me. So, time will tell!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Thank you for your inquiry.

Atkins has moved to a high quality, pure source of milk protein concentrate, which is an upgrade from the blend used in the past. This milk protein concentrate is manufactured by the ultra-filtration of fresh skim milk. Due to the mild conditions of the manufacturing procedure, natural milk calcium and phosphorus are retained with the protein. This milk protein is straight from dairy farmers that do not allow the use of any questionable ingredients for use in their product, such as bovine growth hormone or BHT and is also GMO free.

The other source of protein is from soy. Soy protein contains lots of phytochemicals along with isoflavones that contribute to health benefits. In general, soy products are encouraged to decrease the risk of free radical damage to cells and organs.

Fat; the source of fat has been upgraded from Soybean oil to High Oleic Sunflower Oil.

The RTD’s have also gone from metal cans to the tetra containers which are more environmentally friendly and do not have any of the by products metal containers can yield.

RTDs are aspartame free. They contain a blend of sucralose and Acesulfame K - and this is for a "balanced sweetness".

We will send you coupons to replace your Advantage shakes that may be redeemed for any Atkins product.

Deb ...
Can you give me an example of what your days food looks like? I dont have any trouble with 2 shakes for break and lunch and then dinner, but the problem that I did face is that my calories go way under 1000 when I do this. I also I found it nearly impossible to eat 15 carbs from veggies in one sitting, my apetite really decreased and eating dinner became a chore.
Soooo, my questions are what did you normally eat in a day while you were losing all that weight? About how many cals did you eat a day? I was just doing shake shake dinner not really much snacks because I just wasnt hungry, this week I am trying shake for breakfast, minute muffin with cream cheese for lunch and dinner meat and veggies, still not eating as much veggies as I was prior to the shakes, but I am working at that. I was eating really healthy before the shakes but my cals were really high some days, Im looking for that middle path now....

Morning all- NEWBIE HERE.... I am very interested in the shake routine for me to get rid of a good 20 lbs that somehow accumulated on my body after quitting smoking almost a year ago. I had been a comfortable 150 lbs for a good 6 yrs and then quit smoking and well long story short I need to lose some of this weight !! I am 47 yrs old, married w/2 DD's and recently a grandma... I also work part-time for WW and have done their program for yrs BUT need something different so ANY and all help, advice I would truly appreciate from you guys... tks in advance and got some shakes so I am @ least prepared.... What are your thoughts on sunflower seeds in the shell... I have seem to have acquired a habit of munching on these between meals in lieu of smoking- When I first quit it was sweets that took over my body haha thus the weight gain and now the past few months it's been salt cravings so I measure these out daily and eat them thru out the day- good, bad or otherwise?!? tks for your help folks...
