I dont always use Atkins Shakes, I use slimfast low carb shakes or I am sure you can make your own, I just like the ease of popping open the can, so what works for you.

How many carbs are in a slim fast shake. I used to drink slim fast when I was skinny but realized one day it had tons of sugar has that changed?

The low carb ones are about the same stats as Atkins, I dont have one here so cant tell you exactly. I like the taste of Atkins more and the slimfast lowcarb shakes are no cheaper than Atkins.

The slimfast LOWCARB shakes have 2g of carbs per shake and 20g of protein.
I like the taste.

Don't get regular slimfast or slimfast optima, though, those aren't the same.

Look for the blue box.

Slimfast seemed to have discontinued their Chocolate Royale flavored Shakes. that's the only flavor I can manage. For now I'm sticking with Atkins since they taste better to me for about the same cost. If I do Wally world I save 24cent a case

How is everyone doing? I am getting strict with my shakes this week because I was up a few again. I am letting go of the feeling of urgency that I have to lose this weight fast. That thinking was just leading me to overeat. Now I feel free....yeah!

Homestretch,

Glad to hear of the readjustment - its so easy for all of us to overeat periodically because of the fact that we know that we can lose it easily. I am happy that figuring out that low carbs and low calories with regular exercise can keep me in shape - at least we know HOW to get it off if a few pounds should show its ugly face again!

I am feeling better after battling the flu - still have congestion and a cough at the tail end of this thing - but staying focused. Getting back to my routine of shakes and exercise now. Can't wait until I am a total 100%! Having a shake now as I type!

Gosh I am glad that you are feeling better. That flu was the devil wasn't it? I am always happy to hear your encouraging words. I do not know why I was treating weight loss like a fire sale but somehow I had gotten into that mentality! I am sending healing thoughts in your direction and I hope your cough leaves soon.

Thanks for your well wishes, Homestretch . . . I am feeling better everyday - lots of my friends have fallen victim to this flu - it seems like an epidemic.

Kissa - glad you're back from skiing and hope you had a great time!

This weekend I did not have any shakes available at home - left the extra at the job. So, I settled for bacon and low carb toast . . . But, will get back to having my shakes asap!

Kissa I bet skiing was fabulous! No skiing here but we have done a lot of sledding in the last couple of weeks!

Del***Hope you are mending well and got your shakes back from work.

I have a question. Have you ever gone through a period where you are hungry on the shakes? I love my shakes and won't give them up but lately I notice that when I have my shake at 6:30 am by 10:30 I am very hungry. I was thinking of just eating a hard boiled egg to get me through until my next shake.....what do you guys think? I do not know if my hunger is physical or mental. We have had so much bad weather here that it makes me just want to nest and I miss my outdoor hikes....the treadmill just is not the same. We go to Fl in 3 weeks and I WILL be in optimum shape for the trip so any advice is appreciated.

Have a wonderful day in Atkinsland!

Homestretch -

Thanks for your well wishes and I am definitely on the mend . . . yes, I am "shakin' it up" again!!

Yes, there is a 4 hour window that I noticed during my shakes routine - its natural to want to eat after several hours - its not mental - it's physical and human. I always keep some sort of snack handy - I love cashews and I drink plenty of water, tea, etc. to hold me over. When at home, sometimes I have an hors doeurves' platter available - egg salad or devilled eggs, stuff celery, whitefish, smoked oysters or lunch meat roll ups (one of Atkins' suggestions - I like the turkey (Boars Head) rollup with lettuce, tomato, and cheese - a little bit of mayo/mustard - roll it up and eat!!) - that works! And, I'll have a couple mixed olives on the side!

Or, bake a chicken and make a chicken salad or tuna on lettuce/tomato. Great eats! Mini - snacks in between keeps me from eating what I am not supposed to . . . that's what got me in the overweight position from the first place. I thank Dr. Atkins for teaching me this WOE - he taught me HOW to eat to stay thin for the rest of my life! And the best part is that we here at LCF are REALLY sharing all types of WOE plans with each other that can assist us on the weight loss journey!

Homestretch, I am sooooo proud of you and your advancement . . . keep up the good work!!

Oh Man, I forgot I had like three canisters of Atkins Shake mixes in my hall vitamin cabinet! Whoohoo! I was worried about having shakes, since my finances just got tight again. but I've got plenty now.. Yay! One of the benefits of working at a small store, I got these for free months ago, after we abandoned selling all the low carb products, Nobody wanted them so I claimed them.

I only do 1 shake a day for breakfast. Otherwise I use the shakes for snacks. I'm not usually hungry in the morning so this works out well for me. I need proper food for lunch and dinner because I get too ravenous! For a while I was trying a shake for breakfast and lunch but that just made me overeat later in the day because I got too hungry.

Thanks Del! I have been much better the last few days about not going so long in between eating. Things feel much better and I am not so hungry of an evening. Good advice as usual!

On a scale of to , I think I'd rate it a solid

Strawberry was the first flavor I'd ever tasted and I have to say that I never did have much of a taste for pepto bismal to begin with. Strawberry is Pepto Bismal in a can!

I like the strawberry but not like the Chocolate Royale which is the bomb baby! The Choc royale is a 5 on a scale from 1-5 and the strawberry for me is a 3.

I prefer the Strawberry but since it is scarce, I fell in love with the Chocolate Royale. If I ever do see the Strawberry, that's my No. 1 choice - to me, it tasted like Strawberry Quk from the early days. Just imagine, putting a strawberry or two in it . . . not bad. I am more of a fruit person than chocolate - if it were set before me on a platter.

I like the Atkins Vanilla and Chocolate Royale. I try to use them to replace 1 meal a day or sometimes two. With two weeks to spring break vacation I'll probably do two shake meals a day for the next two weeks.

Oh GAWD! I forgot what a PAIN it is to make the powdered stuff. I have to use my blender just to get the chalky bits to break up. It doesn't have enough taste or sweetness with just water, and if I add sweetener, it just tastes too sweet. Ugh, I gotta go find my old notes on how I used to make these palatable. I think it was a bit of cream and one extra packet of splenda . . .
