Week end check in for the Maintainers
GOOD MORNIN' ALL
DAY 4 OF MY FAST AND IT'S TIME TO BREAK THE FAST. You just don't know how happy I am and how much I'm looking forward to food. It's 3:30 a.m. I can't sleep. On the Make it Fast challenge they say fruit is ok to add when coming off the fast. It's not about carbs, but how gentle it is on the system. I'll take that excuse I have a pare in the fridge and I'm excited. I'll be eating half for breakfast.Well, allot of contraversy about fasting. They say it's a good colon cleansing but my friend at work has a son with Celiac's disease, she has iratable bowel syndrome, her sister has celiacs and her grandmother died from colon cancer. She tells me there is no way fecal matter can get impacted on your colon, it just doesn't - well that's what her dr. says. I say no harm, no foul. I only did the minimum recommended fast of 3 days. I feel really good, so I"m not looking this gift horse in the mouth. But seriously, she says you can really screw up your natural order when you start playing with that $hip no pun intended I don't think I'll be trying that any time soon. I'll see how I feel at month's end. It's re-introducing food into my system that actually scares me. They do say you should only do it twice a year as a kind of spring cleaning. I could support something like that. I'm not sure once a month is wise, although the yoga masters say it is But everyone is different.I do feel clearer and my body feels rested. Tummy is growling and I think I'll start off with a jasmin tea. It's only 3:30 a.m. I'm tired, but hungry and I have a big shopping day today. I"m not sure I'm up for it, but it's my day and DH says he's taking me AND that doesn't happen often, so I'll make the most of it. Ultimately, it's my day so if I'm tired, I'll sit. Oh oh, my belly is calling? So I think I'd better answer. Prayers and good wishes to all on this Last weekend before Barb heads back to work! ENJOY!Liz ![]() |

Hi Liz and all the maintainers that follow,
Do share with us Liz what else you started with. I have been out of control for the last month. I really need to curb the carbs and get back at it again. I am Sooooo looking forward to the whole family flying down on Saturday for two weeks to enjoy Easter and visit with DS. I borrowed a crib this morning and some baby sheets for DGD. DS will try to put it together in the week, so we will be all set for next weekend. He is improving, takes two steps forward then three back here and there. The business is doing well and I have been stepping in where I can to pick up the slack. It is a refreshing change for me, company with the staff and a break from all the serious stuff. Waving to Y'all! Linda, I will try to find time to visit your new site soon. Susan |

Hey gang,
Well, I gone and done it today.....bought me a home gym that is A friend of mine had a Weiider all-in-one workout center that she only wanted $100 for, so time for me to regain some of the lost muscles after sitting on my duff at work. I've definitely gotten soft!Susan, glad your DS is making progress. I know you'll be so glad to see the rest of the family when they fly down. Do you have Oliver with you? Liz, so how did it go today having some real food? There is no way I could do a fast like that, I get a really bad headache if I don't eat. Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend, today was upper 70's and SUNNY for us Gotta love spring!

Good Sunday a.m. We changed our clocks forward this a.m. what a bummer 8:30 already. Church is at 11. Busy day today.
So what did I eat on my first day back from fasting? 2 slices of pare; 30 minutes later a strawberry (they say fruit is gentle on digestion); then celery sticks (2) 30 minutes after that; water; coffee; flax seed. S-cooked spinach; water L-half a caesar salad, no croutons and 6 grilled garlic shrimp; water s-coffee with sf divinci vanilla Mmmmmmmmmmm water D-half of a mini grilled beef fajita, smothered with cheese, avocado and sour cream; water (I was in heaven) Birthday celebration for MIL as well-BUT I could not eat-passed on cake and ice cream and had just a decaf esspresso with splenda. I'm sure I went over on calories, but I stayed pretty clean with carbs (sept that fruit) But I was concerned about moving back into the digestive system phase. Once I introduced food, I went back up a bit, but overall I did well. I'm holding at 134 this a.m. SuSun I'm kind of late to posting again and came in when many prayers and hugs were being sent to you. Is DS going to be ok? I suspect something horrible happened and I'm sad for you, but I don't want you to relive it if it's too sad. Just know that your in my prayers and it's so nice to hear from my fellow Canadian. Ginny, I saw Tennessee licence plates at the Mexican restaurant dh took me to last night and thought that's Ginny's home state and she's having such beautiful weather. I was chilly in the low 50's and thinking I'd rather be in Tennessee. With fasting, they do say the headache is a sign of detox? Not sure. I've had headaches also from lack of food, but I think I may have narrowed it down to a food allergy. Since coming out of this fast, I feel refreshed, no headaches and ready to fill my tummy with clean healthy food. Although those fajitas tasted so mighty fine with that avocado guacamole and sour cream I hope I didn't blow it on my first day.JB HOLY COW YOUR AVATAR IS HHHHHOT I believe you r HERE. GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAALLLLLLLLLLLLLL! I think I saw you on an Apple post? How did that go? I'd love to make fruit a daily part of my diet. For now it's usually a once a week treat. i.e. blueberry's in my plain yogurt or cut up strawberry in my cottage cheese, that's about the extent of it. An apple 3 times a day? I'd settle for once. Mmmmm my mouth is watering just thinking of it.Well ladies, I'm off to start my day - late I know, but blame my time change. Jasmine tea should get me moving at a nice easy pace. My digestive system is doing well. I'm not hungry, but I'm going to have to go in search to make my grocery list to stalk my cupboards for the week. I welcome any induction friendly ideas from the experts? Or OWL ideas too. I'm not big on going past 20-30 healthy carbs a day and keeping my calories relatively low as well. It is my lifelong committment. God Bless y'all ![]() |

Thanks, I may claim goal come Monday, we'll see. I hit that mark every few days even though it doesnt stick. The apple plan went well. I already eat alot of fruit so it was easy. I more just followed to nutritional guidelines from the book I am confused about your final paragraph. I thought you were in maintance? How come you only eat at induction levels? Maintance is about having more I thought? You should be eating fruit every day if you chose. Apples arent going to make you fat! I already eat about 140g carbs a day and was planning on increasing ![]()

Hi to all
Good to see you posting here Jackie. Good to get some new input here. I too eat fruit daily, apples, bananas 3x a week and peaches. Fruit is what I usually have for lunch. Maybe half an apple, or a few peach slices (5) topped with carb freedom yogurt. Liz not sure if I could fast either. I get lightheaded if I don't eat every so often. I ususally eat several small meals during the day and a large evening supper. How often do you weight in? WTG Ginny on getting that new workout equipment. I have seen the Weider machines and they look like a torture instrument to me. I'd rather just walk and do my workouts. Any luck on selling your home? We too are enjoying spring. Just got the riding mower fixed last week and I was cutting the grass for the first time and dang, the rear wheel came right off. DH and I had a time getting it fixed. The clip that holds the wheel on had broken off. It took us about 1/2 a day to get the job done. We definitley would not make any money doing that for a living. Susun glad to hear that you can be so supportive for your son and that the rest of the family will be joining you all soon. Bet little Ella misses her grannie. Have you taken a leave from your nursing job? Julie how is it going for you. Did you get that stomach straightened out yet? Barb are you back to school this coming week? Next will be the end of the school year. Seems you always have another break coming up. Linda how is that new range. Do you like the flat cooking surface? Did you find some flat bottomed pots? Dh will have his surgery (Sigmoid Colon Resection) on April 17. Too bad he will have to be on a liquid diet on Easter Sunday. needed. He will probably be in the hospital for a week. I'm going to pack the cooler in the trunk with some lc stuff and have my lc snacks on hand too.Guess what!!!!! I won the 2 mile Tater Trot (TATER DAY FESTIVAL GOING ON THIS WEEKEND) for walkers. I could hardly believe that I could do that. I thought I was a slow walker. But the course was all flat land and I am used to running up some hills here. I should have entered the 5 K since there were not very many of my age group in that race. No prizes, just the satisfaction of winning. Company coming today. DH"s DD and her husband. Hope they can help him get the boat in so he can get some quality fishing in before the surgery. The crappie season is on. to all.

YAHOO Loretta! That's great and yes all that running or walking up hills is what did it for you. I'll keep DH in my for April 17.I was just thinking the same thing: I always have a break coming up....... Back to the old grind stone tomorrow, then in 7 weeks, the summer is upon me. I'm planning on going back to WI to see mom and all of the other relatives, and DD's graduation in MN is in June. I also have a trip planned to NM and WY and then school will start again. Ginny, I have exercise equipment in the basement also -- if I had known, you could of come and gotten it for free!! Actually, I like using free weights instead of machines. But of course that treadmill sits very close to my heart right there in the master bedroom. Susan, continued and for you and your family. Are you getting your food plan back on track?Liz and Jackie, great work -- both of you look like you are in excellent shape. Till the next time.......... Barb

I've often wondered how others do it and I believe it's by eventually eating sesibly, low fat, healthy carbs. I on the other hand have sacrificed to enjoy my beef fajitas (minus the tortilla) or my ribs on the bbq. AND I'd love to hit 130, but to do that, I'd have to start exercising as well. That just seems too much of a sacrifice. I'm nervous when I see the scale slide up so I just cut back on my carb intake and have found 30 are what I need to keep being lazy I guess ![]() |

prayers r definitely coming your way from me. I'm sure God is watching over you all. I would Love to add fruit. How many carbs do you think you eat a day? I do not exercise ladies I can sometimes get to about 50 - 60 carbs if I keep it clean, but I usually cheat once a month on something stupid like the pizza plus the crust and find myself going back down to maintain. I know if I could kick up a work out, I could kick up my carb intake, but my excuse is my MS wears me down and I just say 'to heck with it' EXCUSES, I know. Possibly with warmer weather around the corner I just may start a routine on my lunch hour.KUDOS on the TATER TROT RACE. Now don't tell me you eat potatoes as well???? I'm jealous of the fruit as it is ![]() |
