WEEKDAY Check-ins for Maintainers

What's the deal?

Not enough people interested in keeping this thread going?

I see our "friends" posting on other posts, so..........must be my deo. again.

Susan, please don't give up -- this is a difficult time and "diet" or "weight loss plans" are not top priority. BUT, you do need to take care of yourself! Start cutting out what you don't need one day at a time. STRESS is never good to our bodies and we need to supplement some good food to take care of ourselves.

Everyday that you are there helping is getting better....... right?

Ginny, how far away is your mom? I feel badly that you are going through this right now - strokes are bad news no matter what age.

Loretta, results from those tests yet? We don't want to keep those fish waiting -- they might swim away.

When you run out of projects - ya right! - Linda, head on over this way and I'll keep you busy.

Julie, frustrating NOT knowing what is wrong ! I'm sure your doctor has covered all of the bases, but......... are the values going into stomach and leaving in good shape? How about sugar? How about fiber? Our HS school secretary just had stomach surgery - for the second time - to replace those values. THAT is major surgery! She had repairs in the past but now they are replaced. She's been sick for so long and now doing ok but recovering is quite long.

Spring Break has me running around visiting and being a bum.

Hi Barb and everyone. Not much going on here at the moment. We are just waiting for some parts to the new range to come in. Had to make some modifications.

Been busy with another project that I'm working on and will let everyone know later.

Take care.

HI Barb and Linda

Well the report is good on Dh's heart and that should not be a problem. One more test today after seeing the Internist. He says we need a pulmonary function test. We will do that today at 1. This sure is a little nerve racking not knowing when but we will take it a day at a time. Lots going on this week too plus DH's daughter from Texas will be visiting toward the end of this week. Not sure how long she will be staying.

Susun I agree with Barb and you should try to get in control of your eating if you can.
In the long run it will be worth the extra effort now. Just do one thing daily that will bring you back in line.

Ginny sorry to hear that for you mom. Hope she does not lose much mobility. She will be in my prayers.

Barb I guess life just gets busy sometimes or we get other priorities going on and slack off somewhere. I do miss getting in here more often and might try to do that even if I just write a line or two. Enjoy that spring break!!!!!

Linda that "other project" of your has peaked my interest. What could that be???
Decorating, dieting or planning a vacation. How is Gerard doing? Any more problems with the rash????

Take care and hugs to all.

Hey y'all,

Thanks for your good thoughts and prayers re mom. She is about 8 hours away from us in Charlotte NC. As of yet, there's no news, but my DB will let me know if there's any changes. I'll probably try to call him later when I have a cell signal (free from my cell to his), I know if anything did progress he'd have let me know. All I'm wanting is for her to be pain free and worry free. The Alz. has damaged her brain so much that there is no 'recovery' really for her, so keeping her comfortable is my main concern. She has progressed to not always knowing who DB is.

Barb, hope you're having fun during your spring break! I haven't had one of them in so long I don't know what I'd do but it would be fun trying to figure it out!

Linda, the word 'modification' around here usually means creative mechanics Sure hope that's not the case with your new stove! What's the new project???

Loretta, glad the tests are coming in good for your DH! Hoping he can get all this done and over with so he can enjoy the pretty weather we're fixin' to have and catch a bunch of fish. We're supposed to be in the 70's this week so it looks like winter's finally give up.

Susan, glad things are going well and that your family will be down soon. It will be a good pick up for y'all to be together. If you do just one thing, like eliminate sugar, you will see a big difference.

Liz, I'm really glad the baby is cleared of health problems. You will get through this, there is nothing that He can't help you handle if you let Him.

Julie, to you, and hope soon you have some resolution to the stomach issues. It's got to be so frustrating to be on a liquid diet! Check in when you feel up to it.....

Off for a little lurk and then some quality time with the 'chids

Hugs and Prayers to ALL OF YOU - US It seems allot of us are struggling in our own worlds. Your right Ginny, God has the wheel and he is AWESOME!

I haven't been posting here too much lately b/c 1- I'm not "maintaining" and 2 - I'm lurking and looking for a secret weapon to blast that fat off my body.

Found some info on fasting. It sounds so good, but I'm hopeless when coming off. I did that fat fast and was so happy... until I started regular food. AND I've heard benefits really kick in after 3 days? I know Jesus did it for 40 days... ?? Anyone have any thoughts on fasting?

Geez, didn't even know you guys were posting here anymore. Sorry.

As of Monday I'm off the liquid diet. It didn't help one iota. All that's left is a CAT scan Friday..all I know at this point is food is going through my stomach at a snails pace and though my intestines at a fast rate. Very unusual for it to be different my regular doc told me. I don't see the specialist until the 19th. Grrrrrrr I have been keeping them jumping calling though. I still didn't hear about the biopsy reports but I'm assuming at this point "no news is good news."

Dang, I hate to do this but I've got to run. Appt. and then lunch date.

So I'll be back but prayers for all needing it today.

Well ladies guess what I did today?

I got laser hair removal under the arms - YE HAW

to me. $$$ but considering no more waxing, or shaving I couldn't be happier.

As well, I also started a water fast. Day one and although I'm hungry, it's not unbearable. Apparently it's suppose to detox my body and it helps in the healing process. Pretty interesting read. I've come this far so I'm almost half way. Tomorrow at lunch will mark the half way point.

Ah Julie, the fluids rn't helping? Any clues or ideas of what YOU think it might be? I remember when they kept coming up with nothing on my tests. I didn't care, I honestly just wanted to DIE. I remember pulling my hair out from the pain and frustration. Who gives a 'you know what' just fix it! I absolutely LOVE DOMPERIDONE. Do you think they could just rx something to you? Trial and error in the meantime? I'm almost tempted to suspect the esophogus isn't functioning properly - ONLY b/c that's what ended up being my problem. Good luck hey? Hey, did you ever go to your daughters wedding? I know you wrestled with that for a long time?

Liz and yikes on the laser hair removal. Did it hurt?

Water fast, eh? I don't think that's something I would try. I like food too much.

Julie, what a PITA waiting that long for the specialists appointment. I sincerely hope you find some answers.

Ginny, it's so difficult to care for someone with Alzheimer's, no matter how much we love them. Bless you and your brother's hearts. It is a very hard job.

LOL our new range instillation project isn't that bad. DH had to take the side panels off and order the optional set that would fit a 29" cut out. So no real problem.

Loretta, we are waiting for good news about your DH.

Are they considering an epidural anesthetic for his surgery to cut the dangers of a general anesthesia? My mom always has that for any abdominal surgery and has had no problem. She had a third of her colon removed a couple of years ago and did fine.

Project? LOL did you get my E mail?

Thanks for the well wishes ladies. The laser was like a pick. I felt it, but it was way less painful then waxing and done almost instantly. I could smell the hair burning ewwwwwwwwwww But oh so cool!

Well, day 1 of my fast is over. Today is day 2. I feel hungry, but it's manageable; weak; calm; relaxed; light in spirit and clear. It's such an awe? Does it get better? I'm detoxing my body - that's my main reason. Secondly, I want to be closer to God and they say this is a religous experience and thirdly, if I lose weight in the process I say "BRING IT ON"

Hey does anyone ever hear from Zip? I often think about making a homemade 'mushroom' soup and pray for a morel to come back up in my garden. I think Spring has finally arrived here with 51 degrees. Or what about Shawnee? I wonder if it's still snowing up in her part of the woods?

Ginny, I sure would like to be in Tenessee this time of year. That sounds like my kind of weather. Not too cold and not hot, breezy and cool, sunny and crisp - just the way I like it. Any word on your mom? Did you see the movie 'The Notebook'? My Sis in law's grandmother had alzheimer's.

Take care ya'll. Day 2 of my fast begins now. Not sure what I'm going to do on day 4 this Saturday for my Birthday? I will just be coming off my fast and that is the most important time! I'm thinking I may blow it with a steak dinner or something. They say as long as I take it slow i.e. steamed broccoli the first hour; clear soup the next; low carb shake and hoping a fajita from Mexican town minus the tortillas. I think it might be murder on my digestive system on the first day, but we shall see. I'm hoping I can do this sensibly.

Have a good day all.
Luv Liz

Special Be healthy, Be a good mother, wife, friend, and be happy. I don't think I'm being realistic, but a girl can dream Looks like my MS takes the healthy part out. Good mom? Still working on with two sick girls whom I love to death; Wife? Well, that's not going so well either so if those aforementions don't stack up, it will be hard for me to be happy. So I guess I'll look for the little things for now. Like my little girls arms around me, kissing my face. Fitting into my size 8 pants and getting this dang fast over and done with

My tummy hurts and as for being close to God? Well, I'm asking who could allow such a torturous death of their ONLY SON? He did it for me? I don't get it? I don't think his torture has anything to do with the forgiveness of my sins? Hmmmm Did anyone see that movie about Jesus Christ? Just the commercials were too much to bear

I'm sorry about the falling out with Zip and a couple others. Glad to see you all here
