THURSDAY ** Maintainers!!

The luncheon was excellent, especially the dessert!

Actually, she had grilled seasame chicken and pork loin and salad and fruit bowl, various breads, and dessert. The salad was so good. First she put bib leaves on the bottom of this huge oval shaped dish, covered that with romaine. Then there were apple slices, chunks of cheese, walnuts, and the dressing drizzed over. I asked how she made the dressing and it was oil - no vinegar- with garlic, anise, lemon and few other spices.

I will mention the dessert since it LOOKED so good and I was drooling watching the people at my table eat it. Chocolate brownie cake with whipped cream on top with sliced almonds and chocolate sryup drizzed over the top.

We are having rain/snow for the rest of the week. Don't like driving in it either. Used to when I was young and careless.

Yes, everyone should get someone to shovel that darn white stuff -- too many heart attacks doing that!

Later.......

Good Morning Barb and all that follow,

It looks a promising day out there, all the snow has gone and the SUN keeps trying to break thru the clouds.

Barb,
Wow, that luncheon sounds delicious! Glad you were able to resist the choc-cake.
Yes, DH still shovels our driveway, the young lad next door is always looking for odd jobs, we had him look after our driveway while we were away and he did a fairly good job. DH doesnt want to give in just yet. He tuned-up the snow blower, so he is all set to go at it. I help on the shovel days too, good exercise and fresh air if you take it easy.

I have a meeting at 3p.m till 5p.m. at the office, then I plan to leave a tad early to get to my aerobics class for 5:30p.m. I am packing my gear so hopefully I will manage to do both.
I hope to be back later.

Y'all have a great Thursday!

Hi everyone,

Just a quick run through right now. I'm off to the grocery store to pick up some ingredients for the soup recipe posted by Carolyn on the Golden. It's soup weather

I'm going to use stew beef rather than ground beef and have everything but celery and the beef.

Barb, that luncheon sounded absolutely delicious!! I just may make that salad for one of our holiday get togethers.

Wish we could find someone to plow our driveway (125 ft long) but G. still says he likes to do it with the snow blower and actually bought a new one this year. The old one was a ride on thing.

Susan, Glad to hear your "company" has finally decided to leave. LOL Hope the meeting is informative.

Waving to everyone else. Gotta run.

Hey gang,

We also had our holiday lunch yesterday at Ruby Tuesday's. That is a good place to stay on plan.....even with LC cheesecake for dessert AND they list carb counts on their 'healthy eating' section of the menu! The chicken with mushrooms, bacon and swiss was quite good, broccoli was steamed and still crisp (love it that way), the only problem was they were out of the mashed cauliflower & cream and subbed me a baked tater (without asking). They should really know better than that, I hadn't had a GOOD baked tater in a LONG time, so down the hatch it went. Back to normal again today

Barb and Linda, y'all please be careful driving on that nasty slick stuff! I'm so glad the days of shovelling are behind us. Now if it sneauxs that much, we just wait it out cuz the roads aren't passable anyways! I think our county has 1 plow truck, so they keep the state roads relatively decent and salt/sand the hills. They also do a preventative spray on the interstates if there's a threat. They're getting a little smarter

Loretta, up in MN when I was a kid, we had a secondary drive that was up a steep hill. Only used it in the decent weather, my Dad left it alone during the winter months. The main drive was flat (tuck under garage) and he had a little snowblower he used on it. Don't miss that stuff one bit!

Susan, glad your roads are cleared from the pretty days! Is your walking path paved? Good for you braving the cold and getting in that walk. Hope your times work out right so you can make your class too!

Julie, I agree, once you sweat and your hair gets it, a shower is MANDATORY! Can't handle having 'stiff hair', and when I was on the dock I came home like that many times--directly to the shower!

Today I have a pretty normal day, but DH will have to pull the fuel pump out of the van AGAIN as it quit on him yesterday. We dragged the van home last night when I got home from work (loads of fun in the dark). Have to find the reciept for the one he put in a few months ago, I think it's the lifetime warrantied one......makes me wonder WHO'S lifetime

Off for a little lurk........

HI to all of you.

Celebrating my 4th year anniversary today of maintaining. I have surprised myself by maintaining for so long.

Ginny I see on your sig that you have made it to 8 years of maintaining, I must have missed your anniversary. Probably not too long ago. CONGRATULATIONS WELL IN ORDER!!!!!
Didd't know that a resturant offered mashed cauliflower. I have been making mine with mayo lately instead of the cream cheese and I prefer it that way. They must be popular at Ruby's. I have not had a real baked potato for a lonnnnnnnnnng time. Sorry to hear about that fuel pump. Steve has a never ending list of Honey Dos. How is the new job going for you.'

Barb that luncheon sure sounds like an extvaganza. Sure was not your average school luncheon. Congats on passing up that cake. Be careful on that rain/snow crap.

Susun glad to hear that your DSIL is heading for home. My goodness that time went fast.

Linda is Gerard's new snow blower a rider too? LOL on getting someone to shovel for us. Most everyone that lives in our area is retired. Not any young kids around at all. I will just let the crap melt this year and park at the top of the driveway until it does.

Julie dang I hardly ever work up a sweat when I exercise. Just feel cold most of the time, but I do warm up some when I jog.

Hi Gang!

Thanks for the encouragement, yes I did make the meeting, left 30 minutes early and made my aerobics class. So got 60 minutes in, fell asleep earlier watching TV, hence I am up at the 'puter right now.

I managed to cut the carbs today hovering around 20 Carbs right now, first day really back at it, since I returned.

WTGG! LORETTA! HAPPY 4TH ANNIVERSARY!

YOU long time maintainers AMAZE me! I hope to join you all one day.

Ginny, yes my path is paved for my brisk walking. When I used to go with DD and Sassy it was all grassy with those muddy pathways. LOL DD has no time now for those leisurly long dog walks.

I need to change my signature to Dec.

Waving to y'all!
