Tuesday, 11-22 for anyone maintaining!!
Morning to all you maintainers!
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY! Do I really need to eat as much as I do? Lately, I've been trying to cut back my leaving a crumb or two on the ole plate. It just seems to be self-discipline that I would like to get good at or......I watch too many of those type of CSI shows. Good to see the responses to my comments yesterday. I'm always afraid to open the thread thinking everyone is going to throw me out. I've gotten good support from everyone here. Julie, you and I have struggled and it's been great to have your help. Makes me feel down right "human". Linda and Loretta, I'm just encouraged when you mentioned how you pass up cake or make a whole dinner for company and it's low carb. It helps me to be stronger. I'm the person who can follow someone in a buffet line and take what they take. I've been a leader myself many times, and at others, just downright weak. Linda, your ideas on traveling low carb have REALLY helped me -- I never leave without a cooler. Ginny, you are fantastic with good baking ideas - eating well and maintaining for _______how many years? WOW! SusSUN, Jacki, Liz, Shawnee, Roger, and I hope I didn't forget anyone! So, keep on helping this poor pilgrim. We'll be eating out this whole weekend - leaving tomorrow for Denver and returning On Sunday - oh boy! At least I don't have to cook......but I will be happy to when I return. OK Ginny, don't say a word about that game. But it was fun to watch.

Good morning Barb and those that follow or just read.
Have a great time visiting with Dd on your Thanksgiving. I know you will just enjoy being with her. Safe travels for you. I have been trying to watch portions too. Cutting down on the size of my salad and other goodies. I really like those almond thins but I am going to limit my intake on them too. I could eat a whole bunch of them at one sitting. I want to get ahead on the Holiday Season. I too have been encouraged by many that have frequented this thread. Lots of good ideas on trying new food ideas or different methods for getting that water in or exercise done. Guess that is why I keep coming back here. Hope we can help others too. TUESDAY'S MAINTAINER MENU
Walk/jog 2.5 miles. HTHs some maintainer.

Hey gang,
Back on track this week, yesterday's lunch was 3 eggs with shredded cheese. Dinner was 3 oz string cheese and some cashews, and Gametime snack was more cashews. Watched the game DH taped for me when I got home. Today will most likely be more of the same, except for football ![]() Barb, my condolences to you, but for me! It was a good, hardfought game, and you never know what will happen with these 2 teams regardless of their records. Have a wonderful visit with your DD!Linda, the old KISS theory is the best way to go. The more complicated we make it, the harder it is to keep up with. Stay safe with that winter weather, and STAY WARM! Loretta, brrr on your morning walks now. Will you get a treadmill for wintertime or 'rough it'? I saw those peaches at our SWW, and they aren't terribly expensive even. Nice to see some GOOD lc stuff show up instead of a bunch of frankenfoods. Julie, don't wear yourself out cooking y'hear? Good for you getting the groceries early in the week, you know it will be 3x worse come Wednesday. I'm not planning anything special since I only have the 1 day off, so whether we go out or eat in it will be just another meal. Off to get my shower........

Well thank you all for your comments but I'm not really strong, just stubborn.
If I would cut back on portion size, I know I would lose this 8 lbs. but I guess I would rather stay with my eating habits of these past 7 years rather than lose the weight. LOL I'm comfortable and set in my ways.Barb have a safe and fun trip. Loretta, you have been such an invaluable help. Your recipes, especially those pancakes and the almond crisps, have helped keep me on the straight and narrow. Julie, how's it going? Don't work too hard. Ginny, sorry you aren't getting a long weekend, but enjoy your day off anyway. Atkins Maintainer Brunch Loretta's ricotta cheese pancakes three eggs fried coffee, cream Dinner Marinated chicken cooked on the BBQ salad with olive oil and vinegar mashed rutabagas Blueberries in cream coffee, cream Snacks cheese almonds glass or two of Chablis. 100 oz of water |

Just checking in. Just got home from bowling and now eating lunch. Going to do something I'm hoping I won't regret but hair grows, right? I'm going to get it spiked. Whatcha think? Will I look like a 62 yo acting like a 20 yo? I'm actually chicken here but I talked it up at bowling and now all the girls are expecting me to do it. I just get so sick of doing things the same way all the time. I need a change! So I'm going to do it!!
Barb, I like your thought for the day. I don't eat much but all day long. My tummy likes it better that way. Loretta, looks like we will be making our 10,000 min. challenge goal by tonight. If not, for tomorrow night for sure! Sorry you guy's didn't join in. I know it's one more place to post. Exercise has really made a difference since I started in again. Did I miss it or are you cooking Thanksgiving dinner? Ginny, I keep it simple too. I absolutely won't bake, because I have trouble eating too much it. So ''simple'' it is!! Linda, I'm not working too hard yet? And I won't. Chuck is a great help. Now, my anxiety level is another story. Started yesterday....but I'll be better by Thursday night. Are you cooking???? Cloudy and cool here AND very foggy! So air quality is still very poor! 43° at 1:00.Off to do some prep things before my hair cut...ewww I'm scared!

Julie,
spiked hair??? My God, you are brave. Can we see some pictures? Please..... It's good that Chuck is such a big help, but don't you feel that it's time someone else to do all the work? We old gals need to retire and let the younger generation step up to the plate. Gerard is a big help too but we aren't cooking really. We will throw a turkey in the oven just to have leftovers and then go out to dinner with my brother, his family, my mom and maybe my DD. |

Evening folks......
Ya - go for it Julie, you only live once!! I have always believed and lived KISS -- except for when I bake, go out, eat at someone else's..... etc. etc. I think that just keeping it simple is the best way to avoid pitfalls. I'm stubborn also Linda -- not really strong. I always remember how you said you carried M & M's in your pocket. Ginny, is it because of starting a new job that you only have one day off? Maybe I'm thinking that the whole world is off -- those retail people will surely be putting in the hours. Loretta, does DH eat the same as you do? Of course, as I always say, if I'm the cook, then "go figure". I need to go pack....... HAPPY THANKSGIVING !! |

GO FOR IT JULIE. I have seen some older women sporting spikes. I just don't have the nerve to do it. I do wear my hair short though. Will you be having a large crowd for dinner? How many different dishes will you fix? Glad you have Chuck to help.
Barb,DH does not really eat the same as I do. He has his pretzels, potatoes and he likes ice cream a lot. Most of the main meal we eat the same we just have different additives. Have fun on your trip. Linda my step daughter would cook but I'd rather do it. That way I know what I'm eating and I have better control. She will probably cook for Christmas. She always wants to eat at noon and DH and I enjoy a very late breakfast, like 10 or 11. Am I a control freak? Dh would gladly order up a meal for us from the local grocer, but I really don't mind cooking or even doing the dishes. But I'd rather wait to do the dishes until after they go home, because I don't want to hear them complaining all the while they help. |

I didn't REALLY chicken out....hairdresser said my hair wants to lay down, duh! Plus it's fine so.....she didn't really talk me out of it but......maybe after the holidays when I can take the time to train it. She said it was possilbe but I'd have put stuff in it which I knew but said I'd have to scrunch and dry it etc. etc... I wanted EASY! If it's NOT easy, forget it. Maybe I'll rethink it ater Christmas. Dang it, I really wanted to do it. I get this way, I always want something different. Life goes on..................................
Loretta, I like to eat no later than 3:00 so I can get the dishes done and everyone out the door no later than six! Linda, I DID give up doing Thanksgiving but it keeps coming back to kick me in the butt. Last year, I ended up buying a fresh turkey and asking DD over. Remember we just got off the cruise ship a few days before so I was sick of eating out. Thought DD and I could click...hehehe we did, Nick and I both left the table in tears. lovely Thanksgiving! This year, DS and his wife are building a new house and they are crammed into a rental. DS2 doesn't cook! DD is going to his relatives this year. So.....what could I do? I hate eating Thanksgiving dinner in a restaurant! Maybe next year though. Yeah, I think so. Barb, subborn....well, I think I probably fit into that catagory too! Have fun this weekend...wish I was going with... Off to throw chicken on the BBQ |
