Hi Rae

I do a combination of low fat and low carb. It works fine for me. I really did follow Atkins stictly. I think I stared out with Sommersize by Susan Sommers.
In the back of my mind I count the carbs, calories and fat content, but I don't actually make a tally sheet.

That's what I think I want to do. I was say I want to do more of a "south Beach, than Atkins. Lower fat, lower carbs, and lower calories. Do that sound like you??
Do you have any idea on Calories, fat, carbs you consume??

My son did South Beach and lost a lot of weight.

I probably (guestimating) consume 1500 calories on an average day. Carbs probably more like 50 or 60. Fat I am not sure but I try to stay at 1.5 sat fat per serving of whatever it is.

I meant to say that I did NOT follow Atkins induction.

You will do fine. Just be patient and realize that this is a change for life. There are some great tasting lowcarb ideas on this web site at Recipe help and suggestions and also in the Recipe room.

By the book only. Atkins really isn't high fat but it's moderate fat. Fat keeps us satisfied. I don't buy into that BS that cholesterol causes heart disease for one thing. It's inflammation and nothing more.

I have no idea of how many carbs I eat now, and I've never counted anything but carbs early on in my lc journey.
Any of you can always check out the Golden bb's menu thread to see what some of us eat.

Do whatever works for you.

I do Atkins by the book, except I skipped induction. I am steadily losing weight and learning to continue eating this way for my lifetime. It's my lifestyle now, no longer just another diet for me.
