Monday - November 21 for Maintainers

Morning to all.........

We had a really fun weekend - shopping, visiting, etc. The weather was just perfect. But..... I understand you mid-westerners and easterners will be getting some deep artic cold and the white stuff!

After reading yesterday's posts last night, I knew that if I waited until the morning I wouldn't insert my foot into my mouth too deeply. But the teeth marks on my tongue are hurting so I'm going to have to say something. I don't want to hurt anyone's feeling but I believe that mine are - everytime it's mentioned that others don't post. What about the people who are here? Aren't they worth their weight in gold? In my opinion, I think it's time to stop crying over spilled milk and get on with it. I feel badly over whatever happened but - hey - what else can be done? Begging didn't work.

I agree with you Linda about the whinning driving one crazy but, that's why I don't post very often on some other boards. I don't know what to say to someone who eats a whole pie and then can't figure out why they are not losing.

I think Julie would post more often if we talked about maintaining stuff. I agree that it's difficult and just the support does a soul good.

I've been maintaining now for two years this new years and I'm proud to have great friends who have helped on this journey.

Mornin' y'all,

A rainy Monday for us here, supposed to get cold again *sigh*. Yesterday was gorgeous. DR and company left @ 11ish since they had a 5+ hour ride back home. We had a really nice visit, and they will be back in mid December since Liz's son graduates from college at MTSU in the 'Boro. It sure was good to see them! My eating habits went down the tubes for the weekend, but I'll be able to rectify any damage shortly (my choices, my problem!) and my trip to Sams yesterday stocked me up on some legal stuff I'd run out of.

My words of wisdom today are: don't do any more damage than a week of clean eating can rectify! I think that's part of how I've maintained for so long. Life can get in the way (and the choices we make), but it is a lifetime journey that we're taking here. So, now I'm back in the saddle again!

Barb, glad you had such a fun time this weekend! So are you in the Holiday Spirit now? I'm having a hard time getting my tail in gear this year for holidays, mostly I think it just doesn't feel like they're this close I'll have to get moving with it since I'll have to mail things out fairly soon!

Loretta, MMmmm on the prime rib! I just love that stuff. Having a dinner like that at a restaurant with all the family is the way to go. No stress, no mad cooking spree and best of all NO CLEANUP! Are y'all going to plan to do that frequently now?

Linda, IKWYM about those who think just adding a diet coke will get them there. It is a lifestyle change, but I think too many people aren't willing to continue it, they'd rather whine. I'm proud to say I'm the healthiest eater in our office, and my goal (like it is every holdiay season) will be to avoid the temptation of homemade treats, especially the sugar ones!

Julie, back when I first lost the weight, I was @ 120 and stayed there for quite a while. Then I settled in at 125 and I think that's a more natural weight for me. I have still got a little pooch to the belly area, but I think I'll have to keep it since if I drop back to 120 I wouldn't be able to buy pants that fit (long enough)! They don't start the talls/longs until I'm in 8's for dress pants or 6's for jeans, and then they're hard to find at that! Also at 120, I had some people tell me I looked too thin. Anyways, now I can maintain pretty easy, and if I do go off plan it isn't hard to get back to it. Are you gearing up for the big T-day? Will others be bringing dishes to help?

Hope all are having a good Monday..... I better get a quick lurk in then hit the shower

Barb you are absolutely right and I'm very sorry for bringing it up again. The people here are more than worth it.
My whining will stop. If those who don't post are that childish to hold a grudge, so be it.

As for maintaining, it would be nice to see more post here but I would have nothing of interest to offer since I've been maintaining all these years. Guess I have it down pat and those who are having problems would get sick and tired of me repeating " Just eat clean and follow the book".

It really irks me to see them trying to add back in the high carb crap that got them here in the first place. Then they wonder why it's so hard to maintain. UGH!!
If this were an open bb, I would say exactly what I felt like saying to them. Unfortunately it's not so I'll keep my mouth shut

Winter storm watch here so I need to get a couple of books to read if we get snowed in.

Barb I was so happy to see your post this morning.

I especially agree with your statement: I think it's time to stop crying over spilled milk and get on with it. I feel badly over whatever happened but - hey - what else can be done? I think we need an invitation for the maintainers that lurk here to post and share with us.
That is what we are all about now that we have reaced our goal. First time in my life I have kept my weight off for this long. I value all that continue to post here and appreciate the friendship and insight they bring with them.

Ginny thanks for your words of wisdom on maintaing for today:

So true. I think that everyone of us develops a system that works for us. I myself look forward to a weekly "treat" and that seems to be able to help me get back on track for another week. Well it has worked so far.

Linda I guess the whining will never stop. IT is just a part of the plan. I think what you have to offer is so valuable.

I've had a good day today. Went to my morning coffee group with the church gals, then headed out to Target. Bought some new plates (RED)f or the kitchen. My kitchen is red and white and have always wanted red plates, cups etc. My new SS check is working out just fine!! Also got a few Christmas presents bought. DD new DH has 2 kids that will be coming from Indiana after Christmas. So got those done. Then ran in the grocery store for last minute dinner preparations and it was a mad house!

I too am afraid I'll put my foot in my mouth here. So I'll just keep quiet. Hard to believe but I can when I want.
I've spoken what I feel and that's the end of it.

A new day..... to all.
