I am new to maitenence and was reading the

discussion about lack of intertest in this forum. I am interested. I have been adding back carbs but not counting them. I eat yogurt and ricotta with peanut butter and cocoa. I also occasionaly have melon or berries.I haven't had any bread or potates or rice as of yet . I am sort of fearful. I am speculating about eating an atkins bar. It "seems"' to indicate it has no sugar alcohol but I am sceptical. It has 22 carbs, 2 alleged "net" carbs. It might be silly but I am scared to death to eat it! What do any of you think? I ate a quaker oatmeal lo carb bar that had 9 carbs and 2 "net " and it seemed to be okay! Also I am going out to a buffet for Thanks giving and don't know how vigilant to be. I know dessert will be a no no, but whatever do I do about hidden sugars in everything else?

Hi Saracat

Good to hear your response expressing your interest. How long have you been maintaining? Congrats on getting that weight off, your stats are very impressive. I only had about 20 pounds to lose, but have kept them off so far (about 4 yrs now). I have eliminated for good, potatoes, rice and other white flour products.

Are you into baking your own low carb "treats". Those bars and other manufactured items are really not all that healthy for you and sometimes they even do not tell the truth on their nutrition labels.

Almond thin crackers are really great and easy to make.
Here is the info on them: Almond Thins
You can make them on the sweet side by using Splenda and cinnamon instead of a "cracker" of garlic etc.

glad you posted your interest.

Hi Saracat and welcome to the wonderful world of maintaining. congratulations

Many of us maintainers add in plain yogurt, ricotta etc. Those things are just fine if you can maintain and still eat them.

As Loretta said, stay away from those processed products and do try the almond crisps. They are wonderful!!

Here are a few links I saved from years ago about the bars and such.

I have many, many more links but I think you get my drift.
