MVM FRIDAY

Good morning kiddies,

I am starting to go up on the scale. At 209# this morning and I can feel that MOST of it is water retention, fingers and knees feel it bad. Of course, a weakness for sherbet has done us in so I passed an ediat by fiat: NO MORE SHERBET IN THE HOUSE. In weather like this it is impossible to say no to it and the A&P isn't helping selling sherbett at $ .99 in raspberry, orange, lemon and rainbow. NO MORE!
I am working too hard to have some cool sweetness ruin it...I'll look for the diet popsicles at 15 calories again.

Bob is seeing the first Bolshoi presentation today, SPARTACUS (leaving for the ticket line at 7AM for an 8 PM curtain . That's the one we saw 20 years ago so I won't bother. I am holding out for THE PHARAOH'S DAUGHTER next Saturday.

Liz, we are going to PLUM ISLAND, MASSACHUESETTS for a couple weeks. We have Bob's cousin's beach house since they are in Africa.

It looks like more HOT for us today with temps again going over 90. I'll do my shopping early and spend some quality time in the gym's quality air conditioning. Oh did I appreciate yesterday morning at the gym almost all alone after that concentration camp environment the night before! THey changed sign on door... from POOL will be OPEN August 1. to "sometime" in mid- August.
Remember, this started as CLOSED JUNE 14TH FOR APPROXIMATELY A MONTH. I'll be amazed if it's really open when we return. I'll freeze membership for the trip and re-freeze until they open the pool.

Have a fulfilling Friday.
HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JACKI
(My sister Jackie also had hers on July 20th...small world!)

Good morning all.

Zip, I hope it cools down soon for you.

Cool and rainy this morning. Feels so refreshing. I want it to stay cool but I hope the rain eases soon so StarTunia and I can take a walk. We've been very very good this week.

Hope y'all are having a good day.

POOL PARTY !!

You will note that this picture was taken with some snow still there but Hot Springs was comfortable.

I'm getting tired of it being so hot but today should ONLY be 100!! Yahoo!

Zip, I would imagine that the heat would make anyone retain fluids. Of course it is the fault of the A&P for selling those items. Glad you and Bob are taking a vacation -- sounds good, an island!!

Jackie, was your birthday on the 20th? Cool and rainy, please don't make me feel jealous.

Loretta, still with company? Julie, camping some more? How are the Mariners doing this season?

Linda, Shawnee, Ginny, Liz, and any lurkers, have a cool one!

Hi to all

Finally getting out from under the company PILE. Marcia is helping me clean house. She does have lots of energy. Glad she got to visit with her siblings too.

Barb I love that new avitar of yours. Holding those water bottles too!!!! WTG. WE are HOT HOT HOT here too. Are the fires out now?

Zip how is that bp doing. Mine sure has been up a little higher than I want it to be lately. I am chalking it up to stress.

Jackie I have your bumble bee in flower on my desktop. Thanks. When does school start for you all? The kids here go back around August 4th or 5th. Some the nexty week.

Back later, I hope. Got to go and supervise.

Barb that snow looks so nice right about now. Are weather is sticky and around 92 degrees.

Zip, going to the Atlantic sounds heavenly about now as well. No whales around there hey? But birds are something. It just sounds so nice to be at the ocean and hear the waves beat up on the shore. That should also sooth any high blood pressure problems. I'm nervous for ya. You should have your meds "just in case". There is nothing like vacationing at an emergency room in a strange place. How is the BP today?

I know you r an internet explorer. If you have time check out
http://world.std.com/~jegan/plum.html They have tons of tourist info and things to do or to enjoy while vacationing on Plum Island.

I went for my upper GI today, so I'm hopeful. I think that helicobacter pylori bug is back to haunt me. I had an ulcer years ago and thought I got rid of the littler bugger, but I think he's the culprit for my misery these past few months. I hope that's it, I'm getting low on good manners as this problem persists

Hey gang...got back from ShopRite...BRUTAL in the sun!
Anyhoo, this is my NINTH day with no BP meds and last night I got the following numbers (each represents three readings and I discard the high and low systolic and the high and low diastolic and record the middle as the hour's reading:

7PM: 134/77
8PM: 126/72
9PM: 126/71

These numbers are BETTER than with the Cozaar and the HCTZ (diuretic.)

The noticeable difference is that my heart-rate is in the 70's instead of the 60's. Must be the effect of the ARB drug (angiotensin receptor blocker, i.e., Cozaar (losartan))

I'll bring my BP drugs, my Lipitor, my allopurinol, and my nitroglycerine...never opened a bottle yet. Insect repellants galore and LOTS of benadryl for when I get eaten alive anyway. I'm sure the Jersey mosquitoes will even follow me up (the Jersey Mosquito is the State Bird! ) I even have 12 of those ancient unfurlable sticky flypapers with tacks for all over the house!
All vitmins will be left behind and we will have to make do with a bottle of UNICAPS!
We WILL be bringing our telescope and binoculars. May LEAVE the telescope there as a THANK YOU...there is NO SKY in the NYC metro area. On a clear night all we can see is the MOON (if it's full!)

Toughie might be WATER. We were told the tap (well) water is safe but AWFUL. We'll bring what we can and there a Ranger station with a DEEP aquifer well that everybody carries bottles to! (I feel like Lewis and Clark!) I hope we can find a CUTE Indian guide...Keemosaabi!

One bike in the garage so we'll only have to take one of ours!

OMG, school starts next week for some? That is downright disgusting. Glad you don't have to go back so soon, Jacki.

Zip, you are so funny. Being left without the comfort of home will be good for your ole eastern pioneer spirit. I believe that Lewis and Clark could probably drink the water from the stream (no pollution). We have well water and I don't drink it because it tastes funny but is good. How do you get on the island, ferry? Lucky you, should be nice and cool.

Liz, hope the upper GI gives some answers to problems. You are right about listening to those waves.

Loretta, taking a break between company, good, and do something for you. You are lucky to have M to clean for you. I've been going through cupboards, drawers, etc. and throwing out, out, out. I'm sure M could do a better job because it means nothing to her. I just wait until I'm in a good "get rid of it" mood and dig in.

Fires Loretta, are almost out around here but still start at anytime in the State with dry lighning. We are hoping for some real storms with rain for this weekend. It will also cool things down.

Later

Hey glad that your bp is ok Zip. Hope it stays that way. I think of you whenever I get around to checking mine. I wonder how Linda is doing with hers?

LOL on those gin bottles. Love it!!!!

Barb my soul is starting to feel better as we wash up the floors and get those refrigerators cleaned up. Funny how that works that way.

Liz at least you have some answers with the H- Pylori dx. That is quite a common disease. I hope that's it, I'm getting low on good manners as this problem persists So true. It was like the company. At least I saw a end of the tunnel. Wish I could say that for Marcia too.

Yikes, I almost didn't get here today. Tomorrow I'll be babysitting from early afternoon till after 10 PM. UGH but at least I'll have a nice Pool and dinner out with the three kids. They are 6,9 and 10 so it won't be bad.

Ran around and then had my son and family stop in this evening and then watched the last of "Into the West". Cried a bit at what those B#stards did to my people.

Oh and I finally found a fresh turkey so it will be in that new fryer on Sunday. Wish me luck I sure don't want to burn half of this county down. Turkey, salad and asparagus will make a nice meal. AND the turkey will take less than 45 minutes to cook.

Ginny, we did get peanut oil BTW, and I did find some Cajun seasoning and will try a little in one part of the thing.

Roger, OMG on that fluid retention but on that nice low BP. Mine is all over the place again. Damn it all.

Bob must be really, really, really into the Ballet to stand in line from 7AM. YIKES!!

You sound really prepared for that vacation. I would suggest taking some bottled water to drink and for coffee if that well water is awful. Just chuck several gallons in the trunk of the rental car. Remember it's not like you will be really far away from civilization and a grocery store

Happy Belated Birthday Jackie. So just how old are you now kid?

OMG LOVE that cartoon.

Barb, been watching the news and reading the western state news and am really worried about those darn fires. It's good to hear that yours are somewhat under control.
OK now move over, I'm coming into that hot tub.

Loretta, It's so good to hear from you. You were missed. Nice
Nice to hear that Marcia is helping you clean. It's best to keep her busy.

Liz, bummer on that H-Pylori being back. At least it's treatable with antibiotic therapy but do stock up on Monistat

OK so were are Julie, Susan, Shawnee and any other MIA's?

Hey gang,

Well, DH bit the bullet today and fired up the a/c. After a day of re-roofing the greenhouse I think he deserves some comfortable air! So far he has the west side almost done, I think he'll take tomorrow mostly off for recuperative reasons (stiff and sore, no impromptu dismounts) but he wants to be DONE with it. Still pretty hot here, I about roasted at work in the trailers this afternoon. Got a little running to do tomorrow, but the rest of my weekend should be pretty quiet.

Got DH's anniversary gift taken care of today. One of the guys at work was looking to sell a Sherwood surround sound system, so I forked over the $$. It has the receiver, bass unit and 5 small speakers. We'll get it hooked up and take a test drive soon. Our anniv. is Aug. 2, this will be 18 of them for us!

Barb, is there room for one more in that hot tub? Sure hope your rain materializes and it cools off for ya!

Jacki, on that cartoon! Did you get your walk in with Star?

Zip, your vacation sounds really fun and relaxing. Have you ever used one of the Brita pitchers? They work very well and the element in them lasts a LONG time. The guys use one in shipping (our water at work SUCKS), but I carry mine from the house (we have excellent well water). They just fill it up, stick it in the fridge and in a short time have a good bit of GOOD water.

Loretta, glad you've got your house 'back'! I know, as much as you enjoy seeing certain people, it's always good to have things back to normal.....even better when those you don't necessarily want visiting get gone. Sounds like they kept M busy. Were you able to get in any 'me' time?

Linda, on the go again, I see! Did the cajun seasoning (very good, by the way) come with the syringe? If not, WallyWorld has them pretty cheap, and they have measurements marked on them. Depending on how you like the meat seasoned, there should be many different choices out there, or recipes to make up your own. Did you see my tea posted in yesterday?

Liz, sure hope the dx of pylori is accurate... My DSisIL had a bad problem with nausea and was treated for that, but although it did some good (along with everything else the drs prescribed) it didn't take care of it. What finally worked for her was a holistic chiropractor she came across! He found out that her gall bladder was bound up because her spine was out of line. 4 cracks later, the nausea DISAPPEARED!!! Of course, then her gall bladder went into hyperdrive for a short time and she had some herbs to take for that, but it settled down nicely for her within just a few days. The gall bladder tests showed it was producing, but what they didn't discover was that it wasn't allowing it OUT like it should. She has to watch her diet still, but can eat most things that she wants without problems.

Hope our MIA's are having a wonderful evening!

Off to lurk, then bed for me.
