GARNET THURSDAY for the MVM

Continued hot (90 yesterday and expected 92 today) but humidity this AM is 57% so that is ALMOST tolerable...ah nut, It's hot as HELL! I see that Ginny, Loretta and Barb will be doing the THI over 100 dance!

Hmm,
I see that "ATTACHMENTS" says "Off" on the bottom...I'm going to test it:

We have theater tonight (a freebie) and maybe we'll experiment with a Korean restaurant since Koreatown is close to the theater. Maybe too hot for super hot food and a dinner at Baskin-Robins might be more appropriate

Shawnee,
We've given up on the car for vacation and we'll go through with the rental reservation. A "new" used car would be too nervousmaking that far from home. It usually takes me a couple weeks of fine tuning before I feel confident with a used car and I like to have all my tools close at hand and not be too far from home in case of a breakdown...not worth risking a vacation.

Ginny,
Thanks for the cinnamon tip. I have a HUGE cannister of it and I think I'll use it to powder my crotch this summer...Oh, am I having trouble with opportunistic fungal infections as a result of those three Zithromax. I'm going to hold off splitting Phonecia til I come back from holiday...I'd like to be with her after her strenuous surgery.

Susun,
Glad your DH is getting some strength back in his legs. Have him stretch his calves before getting out of bed...try to touch knees with toes (I know, impossible but TRY)...and HOLD for a few seconds.

Linda,
I am AMAZED at the lifetime of these HP cartridges...I am waiting to fill the black and it goes on and on. I found a black refill container with 30 mils at the $.99 store! LOL...too bad no color!

To all a good day!

More later.

Good morning everyone. Not much to say this early. No rats showed up to plague us last night or this morning. They probably picked on another neighbor.

Going for a good walk this morning with a friend. I'm taking my StarTunia with me this time. I haven't taken her for a walk in a couple years because she was such a pain to walk! Just couldn't stop her from pulling. Yesterday I thought I'd give it another try and she was a perfect jewel! Like Zips purdy ruby! I was so proud of her. So, she gets to go with me today too. Good for us both.

DD and grkids are coming over today to see me. Maybe I'll bbq them some hotdogs.

Hi Jacki,
Looks like a ruby but it's a lovely garnet...I was going to call today GARNET THURSDAY but I thought maybe I should stop now (before Tourmaline Tuesday and Zircon Sunday become mandatory

New Judge Apointee Roberts has few cases under his belt:
One doozy, he refused to act in the case of a 12 year old girl in Washington D.D. who was searched, handcuffed, and thrown into a windowless paddy wagon...booked, fingerprinted and detained for 3 hours.
Her crime: she ate a single French Fry on the Subway. She was taken into custody because of the lack of proper I.D.
(Do you know many 12 year olds with driver's licences, Social security cards, credit cards, or Medicare cards?)
Sounds like a doozy choice...and an almost SURE turnover of Roe v. Wade. At least everybody here is over the age of needing coathangers anymore, but if young women or those with daughters and granddaughters don't rally against this NOODGE, they are plain NUTS!

Good morning everyone,

Got a fantastic deal on a turkey fryer last night and can hardly believe it.
It was originally priced at $99, then marked down to $49 and last night I got it for $29 Now we need to get some oil. UGH on the trans fat, but I don't think there is a way around it. Gotta check that out but will still cook one occasionally. Might as well die happy, eh?

Roger, what a beautiful garnet!! Where did you find that?

Good idea to take a rental car on vacation. It would be a nightmare if your new, used car broke down while on vacation and you two don't need that stress. You two must be getting really excited about the trip. Hope the weather co operates this time.

Yeah, those HP cartridges are quite something, eh?

Jackie, glad the rats didn't show up last night.
Have fun with the grand kids and throw another dog on the BBQ. I like mine burned.

Susan, how wonderful that your DH is finally getting strength back in his legs. Keep us posted on the two month follow up and the continued healing.

Ginny, please post the "tea" recipe with the correct amount of cinnamon or just e mail it to me. TIA.
Why do most of the fried turkey recipes say to inject with spices? Can a turkey be done with out those ?

Shawnee, OMG how did I ever miss that poor Chuckster was so ill? I'm so sorry but glad he has another of his 9 lives left. Poor baby

Guess we will need to find Gerard's old fire dept. gloves and equipment before we use that thing.

Barb, I stole your quote for my sig.

Waving to everyone else. I need more coffee.
Later

Awww,
My heart goes out the Chickster too...I hope he has a good 5 years under his belt yet! I'm glad the fixup med has him back in purrrr-fect health and snagging varmits!

Got done with workout early...Gym was almost all mine. Wonderful.

Linda,
Unless you get Crisco, there's no worry about trans fats...unless you plan on re-using the oil til kingdom come. A nice corn oil should do the trick (probably more high heat friendly than the fragile omega-3 filled canola.)
How much oil do you need for a 12 pound hen?
Personally, I'd be afraid of working with that much boiling oil unless I was defending my castle against Ghenghis Khan!
I threw out my small Fry Daddy because it was so dangerous!

Here's the very nice gem page:

God, look at the variety of Tourmalines:

Hi Y'all

first off

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JACKI

Enjoy every second of your Day! ..Nice chatting with you this AM.

Zip, I swear my Bob says the same thing

LOL, waaay back when we bought our travel trailer new, we pulled it home from Portland, then spent 2 weeks going over every inch of it...under it too..checking out electrical wires, propane lines, appliances, axels..Hell, he even re-packed the wheel bearings on this brand new thing..the axels were 1 " out of alignment, fixed that..
We have enough tools in each rig to do a minor overhaul beside the road, if needed...
If a rig so much as "sneezes", Bob treats it like serious double pneumonia immediately.
So YUP, I understand bout the ounce of maintenance vs the pound of cure.

Meanwhile, enjoy your pre- vacation time, and the real thing when it happens

Oh, my GAWD..I hope you're kidding bout the crotch-cinnamon thing....You'll need a FIRE HOSE to put out the burn!

Montana, what a DEAL on that Turkey cooker! WTG ! We use Peanut oil, has a High smoke point..I think Canola and Safflower does also.
Yeah, last week the Chuckster took a nose-dive...I was to the point that I often faced with ShawnPup: Please, Grandfather, give this baby BACK to me, or TAKE it ...just don't prolong it.
Guess the ol' Chuckster still had a lil Credit left in his Creator-Critter Account, he's acting lile a kitten again.

Bob's Sis dropped by with home-grown Blooms for ME LOL, I may grow a ton of 'em, but I love the sweetness behind this caring act.

Hey to All who follow, be back later

Shawnee I'm glad your "bump" was just a bump. and I see Susun your dh is getting back into the swing of things.
Zip Cinamon where??? You r so cute. How's your BP today? You sound good. Where you two off to for vacation?

Jacki Treat yourself to something good. Those r always the best presents.

Julie, I've been thinking about you lately. Funny how the mom in us is still there after so many hurts. I hope for "everyone's" sake it all goes well in Vegas. I agree 100% with the others don't try to be the go between her & her siblings. Well, you already know. But it does take a very strong person to push through and onward with your dd. I sure hope I can do the same. I feel so guilty & ashamed of myself with my dd. I wonder if "I" am somehow responsible, but I know in my heart I was/am a good mother. I wish I could do more, but she is 20 and very determined to go her own way (except of course if I were to offer $$$) Well, I've done some reading on Bi-Polar & I'm learning & bottom line "I love her". All I can do is support & and then let go. I think your a good mom Julie.

Anyhow, speaking of that, I have my little miss 7yo splashing away in the tub and soaking the tiles in the bathroom. God give me strength

Well, nausea still persisting and I'm going for an upper GI and to see a specialist for a scope. Gotta put up with this for 2 more weeks & then some. I guess if it weren't for bad luck I'd have none at all eh?

Take care all.
Liz

Hey gang,

Tonight whupped my azz, so this will be short.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JACKI!!! Hope you enjoyed your day to the fullest!

Shawnee, awwwww poor Chuckster, glad he's feeling like himself again. Those presents are a sure sign of that! Tools?? In a vehicle??? Yep, we have that here too!

Linda, I've never measured out the cinnamon in the tea, I use a large coolwhip or margarine bowl and dump in the tea, the whole tube of sf tang (all 4 tubs) and then shake a good coating of the cinnamon over the top. I use enough cinnamon to where you don't see the tang through it. Hope that helps! I also use a wire whisk to stir it up, found that works best. I think most people use peanut oil in the turkey fryers around here, check out Sams or a similar place for it.

Susan, wonderful that your DH is having better leg strength and stamina! I know he's got to be thrilled!

Liz, did they do a good job on the van? Sure hope you get all that nausea taken care of soon, that would make me nuts!

Zip, yep, best to take the rental car for vacation.... IKWYM on worrying about a new-to-you vehicle until you've figured out it's quirks.

Barb, you have mail! Stay in the cool, no need to play around with the extreme heat y'all are having.

Hi to all our MIA's, I'm off to bed.
