MVMs giving Zip a break Sunday, July 17

Hope you are all doing well. I'm off to bed but thought I would give Roger a break and start us off.

Sunday is going to be a laid back day. We will BBQ something like Rib eyes and vegetables and maybe take a trip to see the carnival. LOL. Haven't been to the Strate show since I was a kid. Maybe a ride on the Rockets is in order. http://www.strates.com/train.htm Guess I'm entering my second childhood.

Oh who else just LOVES this commercial? I LMAO every time I see it.

Hi Linda and everyone,

I mentioned STRATES to Bob and he went wild...he's nuts of Carnivals and Circuses...he even ran away from home for a couple weeks to join a circus...back in 1493 or thereabouts! Anyway he said to tell you he NEVER missed STRATES when it came to Messina when he was a kid. Oh we saw on the back of our favorite dairy products (AXELROD yoghurt, cottage cheese<really the best>, sour cream,) that they are made by Crowley Foods, Binghamton (would it KILL them to put a "p" in it!)

God almightly...
my medicine chest is like a siren singing a lovely song about hydrochlorothiazide trying to cause waterlogged sailors to stop and "have a few." But I shall remain strong and squish my way to freedom from this curse. I actually hear a teeny part of my brain saying "just take ONE to get you over this hump." Just like heroine!

Theater was good. A one-woman biographical show about the transformation of a mixed breed Jamaican (Stacy Anne Chin) who was abandoned and raised by her maternal grandmother and wen on to bcoome one of the stars of the DEF POETRY JAM (Tony winner on Broadway.) She was talented enough to be portaray herself both as a child and evenetually as an in-your-face--motherfu%*er "Newyorican" out-Lesbian." SHe is a beautiful, nubile woman whose every word is poetry and who's every movement is dance. Good Italian dinner afterwards (chicken parmesan over linguini/carrot soup/Caesar salad.) Found some nice everyday glasses (16 ounce) so we bought a dozen. Been looking for them hor awhile...everybody tries to foist off 12 ouncers.

Shawnee,
Sounds like a nice trip. I like the black stripe down the middle of your ass!L

Julie,
I think you did GOOD too!

After two days of overwalking the streets...and NOT getting paid for it, I'm doing Linda one-up and doing ABSOLUTELY NOTHING today...I think we'll even order dinner in from somewhere! Now if I could ONLY talk someone into stirring my coffee and finding my flip-flops!

BIG upcoming event is the BOLSHOI BALLET. THis is the first time in the States in 18 years, when we saw them do Spartacus. We will go July 30 and get standing-room (orchestra seats are $200+++) but standing behind the Orcheestra seats is $20. They are bringing 200 dancers...imagine the cost of the operation! For THIS, even Zip will STAND!

Good morning everyone.

Early start to the day here. We took our old garden shed out because it will be in the way of the new back porch/deck. Last night we went to Home Depot and bought a brand new vinyl shed. Will look much better than the old metal one.

This morning at 6am we were out back with shovels in hand to dig out and level a new spot for it. WHEeewwww, we are getting too old. Have the spot dug but now we have to make sure all is level. I got hungry and had to come make some breakfast. Needed a break anyway.

Anywone have a spare shovel and is just aching to dig or get dirty....come on over!!

Hi Y'all

SUMMER is really here today, gonna see some Nineties. The watering hose will be my new best friend.

So, What's the Plan for Today? ...are we all gonna run away and join the Circus? I refuse to be a Pooper-Scooper for the Elephants...

Hope everyone is doing well, emotionally...physically...and on target re WOE Plan, whatever it happens to be.
A few good things about Summer warm/hot weather:
Easier to drink extra water
Feel less inclined to eat, period
Veggies are cheaper !!
The oven stays OFF, no baking goodies.
Spending more time OUTSIDE

Here's Positive spin on a Negative defect:

An elderly Chinese woman had two large pots, each hung on the ends of a pole which she carried across her neck.

One of the pots had a crack in it while the other pot was perfect and always
delivered a full portion of water.

At the end of the long walk from the stream to the house, the cracked pot
arrived only half full.

For a full two years this went on daily, with the woman bringing home only one and a half pots of water.

Of course, the perfect pot was proud of its accomplishments.

But the poor cracked pot was ashamed of its own imperfection, and miserable that it could only do half of what it had been made to do.

After 2 years of what it perceived to be bitter failure, it spoke to the woman
one day by the stream.

"I am ashamed of myself, because this crack in my side causes water to leak out all the way back to your house."

The old woman smiled, "Did you notice that there are flowers on your side of the path, but not on the other pot's side? That's because I have always known about your flaw, so I planted flower seeds on your side of the path, and every day while we walk back, you water them. For two years I have been able to pick these
beautiful flowers to decorate the table. Without you being just the way you are, there would not be this beauty to grace the house."

Each of us has our own unique flaw.

But it's the cracks and flaws we each have that make our lives together so very interesting and rewarding. You've just got to take each person for what they are and look for the good in them.

To all of my crackpot friends, have a great day and remember to smell the
flowers, on your side of the path

...............
Later

Shawnee

Hey gang,

Another vote for a lazy day here. Gonna take care of the kids and 'chids, then take care of ME LOL!! I didn't crack open my new HP book last night, so that will be on today's agenda. Thought about making a Sam's run, but have decided against it since I will have to leave early tomorrow to get my new safety glasses in the works.... so I can leave a bit earlier and do it all in ONE trip!

Shawnee, this crackpot is fixin' to water some flowers soon Glad you're finally getting in some summer weather, now the 'maters will have a chance to strut their stuff.

Jacki, OMG SHOVELS!!! Don't they make tractors with scraper blades for that kind of work??? Y'all just be careful and don't do too much especially in that heat! We want pics, as usual too.

Linda, ribeyes sounds good to me. May just have to go look in the freezer and see what I can find.

Zip, too bad y'all don't have Wallyworld, they have 16oz glasses by the skid-full.

Hope all are having a great day!

Just here asking for all your strength as DD is coming over to air the past ONE MORE TIME. I just had a long talk with Chuck as to what I'll say and how I'll say it. He had some good pointers and know what I will talk about now. I told him I didn't want to go to the wedding even if this turns out good. Hmmm he said maybe but if I didn't want to then we won't. Wonder how far in the past this woman will bring up this time. I think I will emphasize to live in the moment from now on. I feel your support already and am geared up with a half of 1mg Atavan. Hmmm maybe I should take a whole one. I'lll be back and fill you in. dreading this!!!!

Shawnee,

The rationales some people will go through to hide the fact they are CRACKED is amusing.

Ginny,
When we get a car, WallyWorld will be our first trip, Costco the second. How's the rain been for you...it looks dreadful on the weather maps.

Julie, good thoughts to you re your visitor. Do what YOU need to do to be happy and content.

Zip, today is partly cloudy and warm. Still haven't fired up the a/c

I'm almost 1/2 way through the new HP book, it's as good as it's predecessors! Gotta check and see which ones I do have and round out the set. For anyone who hasn't read them, they're extremely well written, fun to read books. They may have started out geared towards a young audience, but even in the first book there's things that only adults would pick up on.

Enjoying my Sunday.....hope y'all are too!

WEllllllll, we spent 5 hours talking and crying. Lots of misunderstanding but love pervailed. Once again we'll try, try again. So should I go to the wedding or not. DH thinks we should. I didn't want to before I talked to her but now I'm up in the air about it. Give me your ideas please.

Honies, I'm home and that makes all the crackpots present and accounted for????

I bet you didn't know that you knew a hero? I tried to save someone from heat stroke this weekend and was successful!

We went to Grand Junction this weekend where it is 102 in the shade. I went to the store for more supplies (it was a party you know) and saw this elderly guy, well dressed, and just sitting on the ground with his head down. I went over and asked if he was ok. He just shoke his head no and I called for someone to call 911. Then I got water, ice ,paper towels on his forehead, etc. By the time the ambulance came he was feeling better but still took the ride. The crew said he was lucky I could recognize heat stroke. Made my day!!

Julie, I don't feel as if I could tell you what to do about the wedding because I wasn't there to hear the conversation. Only you know if she will return to the usual state of bitterness one week after the wedding. Good Luck!

Ginny, what's HP books?

The circus? I could be the lady on horseback or blow smoke out my nose (that's an old, old joke from my young and dumb days). We will NOT do cotton candy because it's too high in SUGAR.

Jackie, you expect manual labor? I'm on vacation.

This was # 5 of "Into the West" - arent there 6? I've been taping and only watched the first one so far.

Zip, have you thought of some small "doggie" you could train to fetch? They are good at slippers, I used to train "disability dogs" for MS patients in my younger , I can save the world , days. BOLSHOI BALLET - wow that's exciting. How long will you have to stand? I'd come to NY for that!

Till the morrow...........

Hi kids, we are finally back home after having a nice day lolly gagging and then a trip to the Strate Show. Took some pictures to show you all, but I'll have to load them on the hard drive, shrink them and put them on Photo island. Maybe later.

Never did get the steaks cooked. We took some burgers out of the freezer instead but decided to just have eggs LOL. It's really too hot to eat.

Bob wouldn't recognize the show now. The rides are all different. No rockets, darn it all. Might have even considered trying it again. Yeah, right

Both of my older sons worked at Crowley's right after they graduated from high school for a few weeks. It's right down at the bottom of the hill and left a couple of blocks from us. My brother's good friend is the manager there. Love their products but am disappointed that they got rid of an old Cottage cheese "flavor". It was called spring salad and was wonderful!!

Ah go ahead and put a p in Bingo town. LOL

Iwould stand for the Bolshoi Ballet too, and am green with envy.

Jackie, You will enjoy that vinyl shed. Got one ourselves a couple of y ears ago to store the riding mower in as well as other garden stuff.

Shovel you have to be kidding.

Shawnee, this cracked pot did water today too.
UGH, on your 90's. You should put a bathing suit on and run through a sprinkler while you are watering your gardens.

Ginny, So is this the first eye exam you had at Sam's club? Been thinking about it myself but had a horrible Esperance at Sears. Made me gun shy. My old eye doc was great but he is so expensive and we no longer have insurance benefits for eye glasses. Damn it all!! Our wonderful, previous employers don't provide eye or dental benefits in the retirement package of health ins.

Enjoy that HP book. Never have read one myself.

Julie, I don't know what to tell you, but do know if it were my dd, I would go unless she pulled some other CHIT. Just follow your conscience.

Barb, you are our hero!! Good for you. Far too many people would have just walked away.

Off to shrink some pictures. Later

OK here are some of us at the Strate show.

they still have this crazy side show.

Gerard is really fixing up that old sears tractor to sell.

Mom's lovely backyard where we enjoyed the cook out Friday.
The fountain

Mom hiding in the shaddow of her BBQ pit.
