MVM SATURDAY

Hi gang,

Moist gluey air continues but at least the temps were fanworthy overnight.
Nice clipping Shawnee: unfortunately ALDOUS HUXLEY said it in his novel BRAVE NEW WORLD back in 1932. He called the drug SOMA:
Quote:
In BNW, happiness derives from consuming mass-produced goods, sports such as Obstacle Golf and Centrifugal Bumble-puppy, promiscuous sex, "the feelies", and most famously of all, a supposedly perfect pleasure-drug, soma.
Hey, if anyone wants to re-read the book:

http://www.huxley.net/bnw/

God bless the Internet...free for the reading!
Poor pharmaceuticals company have spent the last 70 years catching up with his vision.
The REAL **** is the the fact that as soon as a drug is REALLY good...it's declared illegal and banned like LSD, Quaaludes, heroine, barbiturates and amphetemines...onl;y the truly AWFUL drugs remain in the pharmacopaeia like prozac, haldol and their evil sisters.

Linda,
Never fear for the zipster: the reason I am going OFF the BP meds is that in my heart of hearts, I think they are doing me more harm than good! I keep close monitoring and last night after 60 hours off the meds my BP was better than usual (all readings WELL under 120/80.) Water bloat from my withdrawal from the diuretic is another story but my kidneys will adjust. Seems like I'm carrying 2 pounds of water and though it feels miserable, that extra quart isn't as much as I had feared! Nuts, Ihad planned to drink tea last night and forgot all about it...today for sure.

Theater this afternoon.

NEED COFFEE...I'll be back later.

Never fear Barb...here's our weather forcast...
"Saturday
Highs: 67-73
Mostly cloudy to cloudy with decreasing showers and some clearing possible in the afternoon"

Is suppose to warm up to 80 tomorrow but I'll believe it when it gets here. Our summer sucks!

Not much going on today so will curl up with a good book and just relax. Haven't heard anymore from DD. We'll see...

Zip, I could never read a book on the internet. How can your eye's do it?
Yep, tea should help the bloat and staying away from carbs. Oh yeah, what a concept?

Mornin', Y'all

LOL, Zip...now that I have (some) of my brain back (de-fogged of HypoT symptoms)..You expect me to USE it?!
Thanks, I read the first page...and wanted to scream, maybe cry..or both. But can't do that, for fear of having a drug shoved down my throat.

I watched th 5th installment of Into the West last night. Arrogant Custer met his Waterloo..er, Little Big Horn. Not the greatest depiction of that Event...but in the aftermath, the scenes of a dignified half-breed Lakota mother, offering tobacco as she asked the Great Spirit for a good Passover for her battle-casualty son...well, its still haunting me, it was so authentic.
Then came the child Assimilation and Removal ..Carlisle Indian School in PA.
Can ya tell I'm an emotional sucker?

YUP, Julie...where's Summer? We've only had a glimmer or three of it so far.
Good Luck re your DD, and remember your DGD's mature advice

Hey Busy Barb
Hope that busy has some fun in it.
Think I'll go to a lil Country "get together" today, outta town. Maybe see some piglets, I need a smile or two

To ALL, CONTENTMENT

Hi Julie and SuSUN...and THOSE who drop in later

We spent several hours at a Teeny-tiny Country Fair (my fav kind, up close and personal)

NO MULES, but this little half-azzed fella was a sweet substitute

Then we had a great drive thru the mountains...Roads with names like Cherokee Lane, Badger Road, and Wipiti ..(wipiti means "elk")...magnifico views overlooking the Columbia. Life is good.

Hey gang,

Had a nice lazy runnin' around day today, just goofing off mostly after my eye exam. Upon review, I do still have eyes, but they will be requiring bifocals, or at least the one eye I DO see out of will require it, and the other will be for 'cosmetic' purposes. I reckon hit 40=bifocals LOL. At least the job will be paying for them since they will be safety glasses

Shawnee, what an adorable little guy! Could you convince him to talk to you? Those little country fairs are fun, usually everyone is really friendly and it's not so commercial as the bigger ones. This year I'll probably be able to put some plants in our fair again. The last 2 years we were either gone or had an orchid show so I didn't have time to fool with it.

Susan, as I was driving home tonight I saw quite the light show going on, so we'll be in for some t-boomers tonight too. Stay dry!

Julie, hope all goes well if you do meet your DD for a discussion. One thing you could do is tell her 'anything you have to say to me can be said in the presence of my counsellor'. If you're worried about her pulling attitude, playing games etc, you could set it up with a councellor as a mediator. A good one will not tolerate any bullchit (from anyone) and knows what questions to ask as well as how to ask them. They will also allow each 'side' to have their say and not let someone talk over another person. Just a thought.....

Barb, hope it's a fun busy you're having today!

Zip, I much prefer my reclining part of the couch for reading... I do enough in this computer chair as it is

Hi to all our MIA's! I'm off for a little lurk, then will stick my nose in the new Harry Potter book.

Running in real quick to say hi to everybody.
I'm taking my fans apart and cleaning them. Think I have too much time on my hands?

Roger, I may very well join you in ditching those damned BP meds. This afternoon, my blood pressure crashed to 79/58 and I thought I was going to pass out. I even had Gerard drive me to the ER at Wilson Regional Medical center, but didn't stay because there were 5 ambulances there, so I took a chance and came home. I don't think the other two hospitals in this area are very good at all.

So what did you see at the theater this afternoon?

Hi ya Barb. Enjoy your weekend.

Julie, Send those temps this way. We are suffering with heat and humidity.
Glad you got out with DH for a walk this AM.

Shawnee, AWW!! Love that cute little critter. Those small fairs are wonderful, eh?

Watched Into the West too. Damned Custer got just what he deserved. One would think they could have expanded on that Battle much more. Have you ever been to the Battlefield? G and I were there and it was a powerful experience. This series is really a heart breaker. Look at what they did to our people Just awful!!

Gotta finish cleaning those fans and give my brother a call.
Later.
Waving to everyone else.
