Good morning Linda and the gang,
Great, I don't have to try to think of a new way to say Friday! ![]() Linda, The old songs, redux, are a wonderful way to open my puffy eyes! (I smell coffee in the background...needed) I'm going to try to think of a few more when I get fully conscious. Ok, I am experimenting. I didn't take my BP meds yesterday and I hope that will be the first day of the rest of my life. I, of course, gained 2 pounds of squish as of this morning though I;m surprised it isn't more. My hands feel achey-breaky and I'll probably soak them before I get the day going and I will be VERY careful to be kind to my back becasue I KNOW what's left of my lumbar discs are a little bit bigger today. We will do the Brooklyn Museum today, since Bob worked yesterday and I hadn't planned any gym time today but I think it might be wise to get downstairs for at least 1/2 hour in the steam room to see if I can sweat this out. My experience is that it takes 4 days for my kidneys to realize they have to do some work WITHOUT the help of a thiazide. The Cozaar (losartan) does absolutely NOTHING for me so removing that has no effect but I KNOW I am very thiazide dependent. Plusses will be: 1. Slightly Higher Blood pressure uses slightly more calories 24/7 so EVENTUALLY there will be more weight loss, 2. Erector Set will work better,3. Cozaar lowers heartrate somewhat, and again, more heartbeats = more calories, i.e., higher, metabolism. 4. Since I am addicted or at least habituated to diuretics, breaking any dependency is always a good idea, especially since they have found thiazides damaging to the kidneys after multidecade use. Last time I had this kind of weightloss, my BP went to normal (well, always under 140/90...good enough) and I'm looking forward to that again. A test...let's see if coffee really IS a diuretic. I never found it so while taking thiazide, maybe today will be different. Welcome back Julie...sounds like you had a nice time. Susun and Jackie, glad you are both getting good weight loss...must feel like old times, eh? Hugs to everyone ![]()

Good morning to all......
So Linda, are we out of the doghouse yet, or do we need to to your dd and brother for the rest of our lives? That's like a life sentence to someone who is 70! Also busy with throwing things away. It's amazing what I can do without when I set my mind to it. Zip, sent a pm. Hi to all and will return later...... |

Just checking in with you.
Honey, I'm still here, haven't been anywhere. We did take DH for his pacemaker check and doctor visit yesterday. They have gotten so full of technology using a computer type notebook with all of the medical info on it. Interesting. Dh will start taking a low dose of Crestor (5mg) since his LDL was 122. I did not think that was bad, but the choice is his. Because of the stent doc thinks the LDL should be about 70. Things here are progressing, with good days and not so good days. Poor gal, everyday she waits for Sam to call her. We are getting used to each other in some ways. Zip, plain old water is a good diuretic too, if you drink enough of it. I wish you would take your rx. Don't fool around with your blood pressure. Love the pic of the $$$$$$. That will probably be the only one I ever see of that denomination. My step daughter (15 yrs old) has ADD and she has similarities to Marcia. She is Leah's half sister. She is not reliable enough to watch Leah for more than 15 or 20 min. She cannot keep any interest long enough. Not sure what they will do about her either. She will be a senior this year at hs. Not driving and probably not able to work unsupervised. Company starts arriving tonight. More Saturday, more Sunday. The walls will be bulging. We have some meal ideas planned. But they can all make their own plans when they get here. Hope they keep Marcia company. She has been a help to me in some ways. She checks in with me very often ("should I get dressed now?") You all are in my thoughts. Sorry to get so onesided here.

Loretta,
I hope all goes well for you this weekend. Montana, Love the funny! Had my morning walk today, plan now is to wash that fat doggie of mine. Have to set the 'scene of the crime' up before she gets wind of what's about to happen. Sunny day so the deed will be done outdoors this time. |

Morning,
Nice to see you back and posting Jackie! Roger, why don't I think that bill is real? Barb, you sound like me, I toss everything, even though DH doesn't think so. Loretta, company is starting again? My oh my girl! How do you do it? Hope this commotion will keep M busy and leave you alone. Hmmm not sure this is a good trade off though. Just got back from walking with DH. Am going to try and join him every morning now...IF he will compromise and go a little later than 8:00 for pete's sake. Bo is going in for a shampoo today. He's so bad I don't want to even try and do it. Then have my standing lunch date with my gf. Haven't heard back from DD. Just got a text message..saying I love you. I don't have text message on my phone so can't imagine what that will cost me. Anyhow, I expect she'll be over sometime this weekend for out little face to face. Not looking forward to it but am hoping it goes well for her. Catch ya all later...

Hi Gang!
Yes, TGIF! I am over at DD's babysitting Ella while they have their Friday night out. Barb, WE too are in the throws of clearing stuff again. The Cerebral Palsy Association picks up on Monday so have lots again for them. Feels cathartic to "let go" of things eh? I should do it more often. I have an old working computer too for them, not this one.Jacki, I bathed Oliver this afternoon too! I tried a new shampoo from the Vet Hexadene to help his skin. So we'll see if this helps. He has the "itchies" alot. His heartworm Revolution treatment is due tomorrow too. Glad to see you back in the saddle again. Great going so far 11lb in 2 weeks, yeah! Linda, Thanks for the chuckles and trip down memory lane! I heard one to add to yours, "Jumping Jack Flash, it is Gas! Gas! Gas! What are speidies please? Loretta, Yikes, more company...you are a Saint. Julie, Bath time for Bo too! Oliver does not enjoy it, but he lets me do it. Roger, Rolling in the lolly or what? What a nice pic to drool at! Where are Shawnee and Ginny? I guess you will post later tonight. Waving to Liz, hope you are feeling good. to All!SuSUN Last edited by SuSUN : 07-15-2005 at 08:13 PM. |

Back for a quick check again.
Roger, please be really careful playing with your BP meds. I would HATE to see anything happen to you. ![]() Have you ever drinking tea ? It's supposed to be more of a diuretic than coffee. Hey you can send me a bag full of those gold certificates ![]() Barb, nobody is in the dog house. LOL I hope I didn't come across sounding that. I'm way beyond that sort of behavior. Age does have it's benefits. ![]() Loretta, OY!! More company You have my deepest sympathy. Any time you need a break, run up here and stay with us. You would have your own apartment complete with a newly installed air conditioner in our walk out basement.Technology is quite wonderful, eh? Hope DH doesn't have any problems with that statin. Jackie, so were is a picture of that doofus dog? We are waiting patiently. Julie, God!! I hope you can convince DH to walk later in the morning. Sheesh 8 am is rather early for us night owls. Wishing you and DD the best. Susan, babysitting again? I'm not until next Sat. then I'll watch 3 of my oldest son's kids. I don't do it very often for any of them. Told all of my kids that I raised my kids and now it's their turn to raise theirs.. I'll do it once in awhile though. Here is a great site to learn about Spiedies. http://www.geography.ccsu.edu/harmonj/atlas/spiedie.htm Give them a try. They are fantastic!! Waving to the rest of our gang. |

Hey gang,
Don't send out the posse yet, I'm here LOL! Just been running a bit these last couple days. I'll have the weekend to myself since DH is helping some friends with new septic lines, so he'll be tied up and the 'puter will be ALL. MINE. Loretta, don't let the company stress you out, be sure to keep some 'me' time in your schedule! Have you set up your hideyhole yet? Linda, I was talking to one of our regular drivers and we got on the topic of ADD/ADHD and how the schools are pushing for so many kids to be medicated. We came to the conclusion that although there are some who do need help, the vast majority are undisciplined hooligans and the schools are not allowed to provide discipline anymore. Couple that with the government giving more funding to schools based on how many 'disabled' kids there are and it's also a follow-the-money-trail scenario. Here in the South, with parental permission, misbehaving kids can still be paddled, but I think that's phasing out. What I see is a generation of compartmentalized kids coming up, and instead of the boot in the azz that so many need, they will be medicated and pampered. This will be a huge downfall for those who really do have a problem and need help, because they will be lumped in with the rest. Just think about what this holds in store for the future workforce! BTW, loved the funnies...can relate to the 'flash' one *sigh* Zip, soooooooo when can I expect my shipment of the lovely bank notes? I need to play the lotto more frequently too! Shawnee, hope all is well on your end.....check in soon or that posse will be after ya! Jacki, awwwwww poor Starpup, the dreaded BATH!!! We do ours assembly-line fashion in an old stock tank. Those little faces can sure pout Congrats on the 11 lbs! WTG! Our doofus dog is the Nitro-puppy.Julie, so Bo doesn't like a bath, huh? Even after as many as he's had? How does he do for the haircuts? The worst our gang will do is give the long suffering looks and pout. However, a treat can get them out of that mentality pretty quick Susan, enjoy your babysitting! Barb, we need to get our butts in gear and have a yard sale here. I can be quite ruthless with getting rid of stuff, but have to be in the right mood. If I haven't used it in 2 years, it can GO!!! Off for a little lurk, then bed. Getting eyes checked in the a.m., but they won't be dilating them as I'll be driving ![]()

Hey you guy's, I didn't mean Bo was bad about getting a bath. I meant after camping he was filthy. He actually is good for his bath and loves the hair dryer. Not afraid of it at all. All clear?

Hi Y'all
Some days, I just plain blow it: LOL, the eye-finger connection failed me, so my post is lost in Cyberspace. While typing my long, informative, entertaining..and..oh, yeah..brilliant, for sure Epistle, I tried for the Minimize Icon, and hit Close instead. Whaaaah, Boo Hoo, and Grrr ! So.... to ALL here, and have a good weekend. ShawneeOH! I found this while surfing... PS: I'm not trying to make a Political Statement one way or another re this guy's opinion...just think his ideas on DRUGS score a Bulls-eye One Nation Under Drugs--Legal Drug Cartels Continued Posted at July 2, 2004 08:25 PM in We are watching Big Brother . Okay, it wasn't enought to convince everyone that they are mentally ill in some way. Either depression, bipolar, ADHD, or something else. If you are not mentally off-balance, than something is wrong with you. And if you are, then out come the drugs. Oh, the drugs. The dreamworld of the drugs. If only one day, everyone could get a drug that would make them just like everyone else, then we would have the perfect world. We could fine tune them. Give just enough of this drug, a little of that one and each one of us could walk around reacting to everything the same way. We would see news footage of a war in our happy little drug induced bliss world and cheer on the soldiers. Go fight the evil doers. Make the world safe for democracy. Get rid of all the radicals or give them drugs so they can be the same way. It doesn't matter what we were told. The drugs would think for us. We wouldn't have to. It would make the ditch diggers happy to dig ditches. The trashmen happy to be trashmen. And it sure would prevent the awful influx of hope. Hope is no longer an acceptable state of mind. Be happy where you are. Be the best little citizen you can. Maybe the drugs can influence your vote. With a plastic smile, you walk up to the booth and sign away another one of your freedoms. Why? To be safe. Your mind is in order now. You can watch the little box that talks. A man comes on a tells you that terrorists are out to get you and this is the only way to prevent them from flying a jet into your house. Sounds logical. But on the drugs, everything does. But thats the way its supposed to be. How orderly the world will be then. I can't wait. The rich will keep their wealth with on threat from the middle and lower classes trying to sneak in where they don't belong. The end of initiative. After all, most who try fail, right? And that causes depression. The little happy pills will nip this in the bud, stop it before it even begins. Just imagine. If you were born to a family of migrant workers, you can now be happy to be one. No struggle to better yourself or get education. You can be as happy as a pig in slop. After all, that's what the drug companies think of you. No more civil diobediance either. You will blissfully bow to authority once you are happy. No more stray thoughts of freedom. Because freedom causes pain. Too many options cause pain. Withe the aid of these pills, your thoughts are clear and you become an integral part of a whole. Like a cog in a big...oh, wait not a good analogy. Like part of a big happy family where the government becomes both your mother and father and guides you in the right direction. No need for competition, because we will level the playing field. Studies of genuises in the past have shown that their high IQ's also came with some mental problems. Just look at John Nash. We will give them drugs when they are children and they will become just like yours. No bell curve, no summa cum laude. No honor roll. Everyone will be equal and everyone will be happy. Yeah, well you know what: **** THAT! .............................................. And this is interesting: http://bipolar.about.com/od/celebrit...brities_ab.htm
