Wednesday for the MVM

Hi kids,

Cool and overcast here...just fine in mid July. Weight is 205 , calories yesterday were a good 2160...practicing Stoicism...OOOOHHHHHMMMMMM!

Jackie,
Sorry you slipped. I'm sure you're riddled with the "Oh WHY did I do this?"
Now you've got a lot of work ahead of you so try your damndest to remember the feeling so you don't make the same mistake again. I am going to do some hypnosis and imprint how much effort goes into losing 20 pounds so I NEVER forget and slip again. The worst thing is the torment of the two words "For WHAT?" And the answer is something as silly as a pile of cookies or daily dessert. We mortals are a hoot, aren't we.
One word from someone who is NOT a low carbber anymore but was an EXPERT on it when he was. DO NOT extend Induction for more than 14 days...it's ALWAYS a very bad mistake...ALWAYS!

Linda,
I had never seen DACOR ranges and I looked them up...they are beautiful. Do you have the drop in that is just a flat piece of tempered glass? Four or 5 burners...what do you do for the oven? Here's my fave:

Shawnee...
Bob got a flesh colored almost invisible something that looked like a of whisp super thin almost transparent adhesive tape. It was supposed to wash off slowly but after about 2 weeks we helped it off. Unless you looked REALLY hard, the band-aid and the stitches were invisible...they even matched his skin color with the "band-aid"...like a make up counter.
He went here:
http://nydermatologygroup.com/
He praised it so much (except for the UNNECESSARY procedure) that I think I'll go there for my first facelift when I manage to amass a few hundred grand I don't need!

More later...

Have a pleasant morning.

HOT, Clear skies, no rain, yes - that's us!! Should be over 100 today!

No fires in this part of CO, but they are south of Denver about 150 miles and near Pueblo. I guess about 40% contained.

OMG Zip, you have a much nicer kitchen than I .

One more day of stoic activity and I bet you have a loss!

Hi Roger and Barb... Just a quick run in for now. I want to get to the grocery store and check out the Lowe's and other movie complex we have. By that I mean check prices :P.
It's still HOT and Humid here so we have the house sealed up and will turn the AC on as needed.

Roger, LMAO oh sure we have that range. My son had a spectacular Viking with 5 or 6 burners and two ovens.
We just have an 18 YO, 30" drop in with changeable top modules. Our burners are the old fashioned Euro disk but we can replace them with glass. Either way, the disk or glass inserts are about $400 a piece. We also have the BBQ grill insert but hardly ever use it. Our propane gas grill is easier to use and clean.
Here is it's picture.

It's a really good idea to imprint just how much effort it took to lose our weight. I hope never to go through that again.

Barb, it's good to hear the fires are somewhat contained.

More later.

Linda,
Your range is VERY nice. That one I showed IS a DACOR but I presume gas. When I left the fraternity house, the place was going to be sold and a new one was ready on campus. If anyone wanted the HUGE 8 burner ancient Viking (with like 1 foot burners with 2 griddles and two ovens,) he could have had it for free. It all came apart: I know because the pledges broke it down evey year and scrubbed the bejesus out of it. My heart broke but it went to the trashman! (Probably melted down to build an aircraft carrier for Vietnam.) Unfortunately it was perhaps 7 feet wide and with it's top shelf, 6 feet high, NOT handy for home use, at least nothing smaller than the 12 bedroom Victorian that the I called HOME for 3 years!
But you couldn't buy that stove today with a King's ransom! All cast iron so EVERYTHING could be Easy-Offed!

I am a proud man today. I bit my lower lip and got on the Stationary Bike and did 40 agonizing minutes to a heart rate of 142 BPM. Though it was cool, it was HUMID and I had a river of sweat running off me. The ride consumed 368 calories and I crawled to the showers and upstairs.
YOU guys can do it too!<hint, hint>

Crawling to the fridge for some ice cold diet lemonade!

Hi Y'all

If I were still into cooking/baking like I was years ago...WOW, I'd really appreciate the DACOR.

My current range kinda looks like Montana's...but not so expensive: It was about $800 a dozen years back. I've had the glass top ranges for over the last 20 years, not crazy bout them...would much prefer GAS, but not available on my street...
Guess I should *whine* to Bob, get a gas one and hook it to Propane...and also hook it to the Fireplace too.
Meanwhile, if I wanna cook on gas, gotta go out to the travel trailer, or use the BBQ

Congrats on the sweat, Zip Thanks forthe interesting link. Hehee, where I use my bandage, I wouldn't care if it was bright orange!

Montana, guess we are so lucky with our John Deeres...
(the way Bob likes to weld and "invent"...I coulda been stuck with something like this

Hi to all

Good to see the pictures of the Dacor ovens. Sure would like one of them. I could send you all a pic of our electric FRIGIDAIRE, probably circa 1970s. It works well though. It is the one I had to replace the oven element in. As long as it works, it's ok with me. My DIL has a new fangled oven and she has to get out the book to use it. She was still using an old wind up timer.

Congrats on that great ride Zip. Good stamina, YEAH we can crawl to the shower too without taking that ride. I never seem to work up a sweat even on my uphill climb. I must be doing something wrong.

Shawnee I agree with you But I sometimes think perhaps the Medical profession is too quick to slap "Labels" on,(especially with the younger patients) and overmedicate cause its easier for the Family and Doc deal with...
I think that my Step DGD has similar sypmtoms as Marcia with her attention deficit disorder. Different label. Marcia has not been on any meds for quite a while, no $$$, no disability etc, etc to buy them with.. She is docile and does not talk a lot (that I like) I did try to call to see if Mental Health could up our appointment, they say call back incase of a cancellation. In the mean time for (crisis) just bring her in there and wait. I don't feel that we are at that level. She has been working on her latch hook, incorrectly but that is fine too.
CONGRATS to the parents to be and to the proud GREAT GRANDMA. Do you have a sex preference for your offspring?
LOL on that lawn mower bike. Just too cute!!!!! How about it ZIP??

Hey Jackie so good to hear from you gal. Hope the projects are done at your place.

Barb LOL on the maintainers drinking their water over there. I am thinking I will let it drop or take up Vickie on her idea about the water and menu threads together. That might also get more to post if it is just one entry.

Ginny I think Marcia sure does need a good physical too. DH mentioned that also and as soon as we can get a Medicaid card that will be on the priority list. She has a very large abd (ascities?) and is frequently in the bathroom.
She wants to buy a lot of OTC allergy type meds, cough rx etc. I do put the brakes on that when I can.

Sorry for bending your ears about off. Things will get better. I really hope for the best for Marcia.

Later folks

Hi Ya Gang!

Bin doing chores at a much slower pace today! Feels good to get 'em done. Thank goodness for air conditioning. We have 41 Celsius with the humidex today up here. I think that is about 106F according to the conversion site. HOT!!!!!

DSonIL's Mom flies home to the UK tonight, back to Heathrow, Yikes!

I am finally getting back into my own routine. The party was a great success.
Hope you guys were able to open the Birthday pics.

I have work tomorrow just a group in the afternoon.

Roger,
That range is DD's, but not the little extra one on the side. Yes, they use gas, not my choice! She has a gorgeous kitchen all stainless appliances and dark wood cabinets, looks good together, along with the marble counter tops.

The scales moved fractionally again for me this morning, a nice surprize! I was swimming over at DD's yesterday, so a bit more physical activity I guess, plus all my chores yesterday.

I too am in the same boat Jacki but managing to lose again slowly.
Keep up the good work!

Wavin to Y'all and sending many

HI to Loretta, Ginny, and SuSUN

I should be outside doing something since its getting mellow weather...(well, I did pull a few weeds as I inspected my disgraceful gardens) ...seems I've lost my insentive for hard work.

Loretta, its good that M wants to please you, and tries to be helpful. Yes, I know...sometimes her help causes ya more work. Yeah, who the heck cares if the Latch hook thing is "her way"...it keeps her occupied, so pile on the praise for her work
Guess the countdown is on for the Company to arrive? Sure hoping everyone arriving will be congenial and helpful...you sure don't deserve any more stress.
BTW, how is Brittany relating to lil Leah? Does she enjoy being Big Sis?
Thanks...I'm looking forward to being a Great-granny (NEVER thought I'd say that...I was happy with just the GrandPups, but I've evolved too)

LOL on the newfangled things...we keep most everything til its obsolete, antiquated...til Bob is tired of fixing them..(he doesn't trust Repairmen)
Then when we DO get something new, my brain only has room to learn the Basics of the necessary operations.

Ginny, guess its a busy work day for ya huh? How's the GH roof project going? Just how long is your DH's "Honey do" List?
I'm anxious to hear from Kaci (but trying not to be too pushy, butt-insky, she has a MIL for that!)..about their first visit to Midwife last night..the same one who delivered her! Thanks for your well wishes

SuSUN, lil Ella's pics are adorable. Thanks for sending them..What a Sweetie she is.
That pool sounds like dual purpose: fun and exercize too!
Glad the Scale is going the right direction.
LOL, your DD's kitchen and Liz's description of her house are making me want to be a Canadian...what's the secret y'all have for the big $$$ ?! (*Kidding*)

My weight is still bouncing up and down...still jumping from HyPo to HypEr now and then, but feeling better in general...feel like I'm on the right track finally. HEY, NO case of serious Hives (just a few smatherings of minute ones) in the last month ...so I've been tempting fate, and some of my known allergies.. I can now eat Chicken and Fish! This is a damned BIG DEAL!

Hey to all who come later.

The Angel's Trumpet Shawnee wanted me to post

How about a before and after of the outside of the house, front views?

before:

after: still no gutters tho.

Oh, the smudge on the front porch is StarTunia's fault. That's where she lays.

Our next step is adding the back porch. I'll post more photos then.

Hey!! I LOVE that stove!! Fabulous!

A nice job Jackie. Do you have a bedroom upstairs or just 2 downstairs?

Aren't the flowers MOONFLOWERS (bloom at dusk)?

If WEIDER saw that GREAT ride-a-mower he's steal the idea, call it a MOWXERCISER, and sell it
on 3AM TV for 4 easy payments of $99.99. Slight shipping and handling fee extra ($79.99!)

there are two small bedrooms upstairs. Only one bedroom downstairs now. There used to be two but we used the small one for our new bathroom. Tore out the old bathroom and it is now part of our kitchen/dining area.

OMG Jackie those Angel Trumpets are awesome and what a lovely home you have. I'm very impressed.
My God you and your dh did a great job. What a lot of work though.
LOL I'm with Shawnee and see the back end of StarTunia  so how about a full picture of your fur baby?

Congrats on getting back on the wagon. We are hear for ya.

Roger, have you taken leave of your senses 40 min. on the stationary bike??? Mother of Pearl!! You won't be able to get out of bed tomorrow.

Yes that Dacor you posted is a gas stove and I am drooling and crying as I yearn for one like that. I can imagine that it broke your heart to leave that wonderful Viking but that thing was HUGE.

Shawnee, what brand is your stove? We paid about 1400 for ours about 18 years ago. Does yours have down draft vent fan? I can't find any that have those anymore except Jenn- air and they are too pricey and don't come with as many options that this old baby has.
I would love to replace several parts including the clock gear and keep it for the duration but I don't know if the company will have parts available for old models. The California distributor said the company was discontinuing them

Cooking with gas is the only way to go. Unfortunately we don't have natural gas out here either and don't want a huge, ugly propane tank in the yard.

OMG I LOVE that riding mower but hide that picture before Gerard sees it. He will want one.

Loretta, there is nothing wrong with keeping an old appliance working well if you can find the parts. The refrigerator in our basement is well over 30 years old and runs like a top.
Gerard is working on the old Sears ride on mower ( 30 + years too) and will fix that up as well as the old truck and sell them both.

Sometimes it's difficult to differentiate between Bi polar and adult ADD. From what I've seen, and they were the extreme cases, with ADD they just can't finish a task or concentrate on anything for more than a few minutes. Think Ding Bat. Like my DD. LOL

With Bi polar the are so high, running around, not sleeping, doing odd things like running up and down a hall and placing plants, pictures, chairs, anything, in the middle of the floor.

They do this for weeks at a time if they cycle slowly. If they have credit cards or access to a bank account, some have been known to fly across country on a spending spree. They also think they are the smartest, most creative people in the world and don't hesitate to tell those around them how stupid they are. They are very quick to anger and can become violent and combative.

If they cycle rapidly, this manic behavior can last for just a few minutes or several hours before they crash.

When they crash ( are in the down cycle), they can hardly move. They sit there in a complete stupor or won't get out of bed to even use the bathroom.
It's a heart breaking disease and very, very difficult for those around to deal with.

My heart goes out to you. Just do what you have to do to get her help. Are you able to contact her old doctors, explain the situation and get some meds until she sees MH?

Susan,
Congrats on the scale moving down. You can do it!! Just don't obsess over the darn scale. Kick that thing to the curb and eat clean and you will do just fine.

Don't worry about Heathrow or London. The Islamo fascists will strike some place else now. I have to LMAO because the government over there is so Fu*king Politically correct and refuse to call them terrorists, Islamists extremists, etc but refer to them as "Asian" HA!!

Waving to Ginny and Barb. Check in gals.
Hope Julie is having a wonderful time.

Hey gang,

Had a good night at work, it was nice and comfortable (drizzly today so not so hot) and everything went right for a change. The world must be coming to an end LOL!

Jacki, WOW!!! That's quite a transformation on your house! Love the trumpet too, what is it's 'real' name? Glad to see you back again, missed ya!

Shawnee, that mower is a hoot, I'm surprised we haven't seen one of them around here in rednecksville. I'd want the 10-speed version LOL! With the rain/wind etc we've been having, the gh roof is on hold pending some calm and sunny days. Got all the parts/pieces to do it, now if we can get the weather to cooperate we'll git-er-done. Keep us posted on the in-process young'un

Linda, our stove is a basic propane model, nothing special. Bought it at an auction in '97 when it was about 2 years old. I have no complaints except I have to use it LOL!! Not much for cooking/baking here. If I had my 'druthers, I would have a gas stove with an electric oven. Propane is a moister heat and doesn't bake as well as electric when I get a wild hair and do that. Our heat and water heater are also propane, I'm very pleased with the efficiency and recovery time for the WH. The good thing about propane and how we're set up is even if the power goes off, I have heat, can cook and if DH fires up the generator to run the well I have HOT WATER. Comes in handy during the ice storm power outages (we were the only hot showers!)

Loretta, are you taking your walks earlier now to be in the cooler weather? I'm sure that's your quiet time right now, so enjoy! Hon, don't worry about venting here....you're safe with us! My turn will be coming in August and then November when mom comes for visits. When is your company due in? Save some 'me' time during all this to keep your sanity!

Zip, ick-yuck on the stationary bike... my knees would be shot after that. I frequently resemble rice krispies (snap, crackle and pop), and even on my forklift I'll sometimes have to extend a leg and let the knee crack. If I'm on for too long, the resulting 'forklift waddle' can generate a few snickers. That Viking range contraption sounds like it would have been quite a project to clean. Can't imagine using anything that HUGE!

Barb, 'but it's a dry heat' LOL!!! Hope you're drinking lotza water and not pushing too hard in that heat. Did the email come through?

Susan, pics came through just fine! Ella sure is a cute one, I know y'all are enjoying her to bits. Good for you on the swim, glad you have access to a private pool instead of the 'cesspools' the public is offered! Does your DD ever do instant messaging with your DS? He'd be able to see Ella's progress 'live' if she had a webcam. Just a little closer to actually being there!

Well, all, off for a little lurk. DH is watching a movie so I have the 'puter to myself
